BBC iPlayer Is Now Available For Wii U Owners In The UK

Good news for Wii U owners in the United Kingdom as the BBC iPlayer is now available to download on the Wii U eShop. The application is a 94 MB file and provides hundreds of hours of entertainment from your favourite BBC channels in both HD or SD. The application also allows for off-TV viewing on the GamePad.

Thanks, Joe F

    1. unfortunately no, it’s a British channel available in UK only. i am not 100% sure but even the common wealth (i.e. Canada, Australia) don’t have access to BBC iplayer.

Why would you want it? Do you watch the BBC???

I only know one person, personally, in the U.S who watches the BBC network and it’s because this person is OBSESSED with British culture. I’m not particularly fond of anything that comes from the BBC. I did watch the first episode of The Tudors on Netflix though. It’s the kind of show, I think I could get into, I guess.

I also like Being Human, but I like the American version better than the original British version.

I would say that the BBC is really for British people.

  2. The more features the Wii U has the better, I can’t understand why it’s taken so long though considering PS3 had it years ago.

  3. finally we have BBC iplayer on the wii U. from all the home console in the last gen, BBC iplayer works best on wii. I expecting the same quality or even better on the Wii U.

  4. Haha yes you americans always get the short end of the stick, you will never feel the joys of ‘antiques road trip’ and ‘Homes under the hammer’

    1. Thanks for the article! For those who live outside UK and want to access BBC iPlayer you can use UnoTelly as I do to get around the geo block.
