Monster Hunter X Expected To Sell 2.5 Million Copies

Capcom has understandably ambitious hopes for Monster Hunter X, the next installment in its massively popular Monster Hunter series. According to Siliconera, Capcom expects to sell 2.5 million copies.

Last month, Capcom said in a financial report that they expected to sell 2.5 million units of a “title related to Monster Hunter” for the Nintendo 3DS by March 31st, 2016. Back then, everyone just figured Capcom was talking about Monster Hunter Stories, as it was the only new Monster Hunter game announced at the time. That wasn’t exactly the case, apparently.

Monster Hunter X will be released in Japan sometime this Winter. A Western release for the game has not been announced as yet. Read more at Siliconera.

  1. As much as Capcom have really disappointed me over the last 5 years. I really want this to do well for the company. The sole reason I am buying a PS4 is because of Street Fighter 5.
Hopefully when they announce Resi 7 next week. It will be a return to form for them.

  2. 2.5million? Easy.
It will sell 2.5million in only japan. If western released probably another 500k-1m.

  3. I wonder why the jump to 3DS and not WiiU. Same reason(s) with the other companies ditching the system?
Not regretting the sell of MH4U so far, since this has been announced. And it sounds like a crazy amount of improvements to core gameplay alone.
