Yoshi’s Woolly World Trailer Showcases New Power Badges And Amiibo Support

Showing a mix of new and old features, the new trailer for Yoshi’s Woolly World brought to you by Nintendo UK’s Wii U YouTube Channel showcases gameplay, amiibo support, and more:

While we knew amiibo were going to be used in game, the trailer showcases that the Splatoon’s Inkling Girl amiibo will also be compatible.

Power badges, modifiers that will help you get through a level by granting you extra abilities, are briefly featured. These include:

  • Play alongside Poochy!
  • Clear the course!
  • Grab items with Yoshi’s tongue!
  • Improve your speed!
  • All-you-can-eat watermelon!
  • All-you-can-eat fire watermelon!
  • All-you-can-eat Ice watermelon!
  • Pull items to you with your magnetic force!
  • Power up Ground Pound!
  • See hidden items!
  • Immunity to fire and lava!

Yoshi’s Woolly World will be available on Wii U on June 26 in Europe, and Fall 2015 in North America.

  1. As I feared, they’re making this game way too easy for casuals. I was hoping for a blend of fun and challenge like Yoshis Island on snes. Guess it’ll be another epic yarn…

    1. At least the badges are optional. Nintendo has been making a lot of accessible for a younger audience, that’s both a good and bad thing, but most of the time these modes or features are optional.

    2. I think that the goal to introduce badges is the opposite. I mean, they are to make easy the game for newcomers, but the game without them is going to be challenging. Anyway a think is hasty make a judgement before play it. Nice day.

    3. I heard every buyer of this game will get a visit from the Nintendo-mafia! They will force you, by putting a gun to your head, to use ALL of the things that make the game easier!
