Playtonic Games’ crowdfunding campaign for Yooka-Laylee has now drawn to a close with over £2 million raised in total. The 3D platformer shot to Kickstarter success when it was funded in under one hour after launching on May 1. Within just one day, the developer had smashed its £175,000 funding goal and raised a staggering £1 million. And over the course of the past month, the gorgeous platformer – which features Yooka the green chameleon and Laylee the purple bat as the game’s two adorable heroes – has managed to surpass Playtonic Games’ expectations by achieving every stretch goal issued.
Yooka-Laylee completed its round trip journey yesterday and checked off the final stretch goal, adding free DLC to all those who backed the game once it releases. Tipped as the spiritual successor to Banjo Kazooie and from the brilliant creative talent from Rare games such as Donkey Kong Country, Playtonic Games has concluded its Kickstarter campaign with a whopping £2,090,104. Those who still wish to donate to certain tiers, however, can still do so for a limited time via PayPal at the developer’s website. To celebrate the success, Playtonic Games thanked all backers involved with an update on its Kickstarter page. Yooka-Laylee is set to come to various platforms, including the Wii U, in late 2016.
47 days ago we started this Kickstarter campaign – our first Kickstarter – with little idea of what we were letting ourselves in for.
We know how to make games, but we didn’t know much about Kickstarters. We’d taken plenty of advice from plenty of people, but really didn’t know how it would turn out. We were still amending and tweaking the Kickstarter page minutes before we went live, to see what could be added, what would look better, what could be said more clearly.
The rest of course, is history, but through these past 47 days we’ve felt an incredible level of positive support from everyone, whether they opted to back us or not. For that, we are extremely grateful!
What’s next? Well, some sleep (right now), then onwards to create a game that, at the end of 2016, lives up to your expectations, and that in years to come you can look back and be proud to be involved with. Raise your virtual glass to the next exciting installment!

Not for Wii U besides this and Zelda that I can think of sadly. Are there any games besides those two coming out for it that we know of next year?
Of course there are more wii u games coming out next year that you should know of but that’s the mystery with Nintendo they only give you scraps of information of games coming out until that year which they are supposed to come out
I’ve been following nintendo for probably a lot longer than you and I know of their mysteries and such. Except the mysteries in recent years haven’t been good and they really just don’t have much to show.
Fire Emblem X Shin Megami Tensei is 2016 I’m pretty sure for North America. Also Retro’s Metroid Wii U will be next year, it and Zelda will be the Wii U’s swan song.
Let’s hope the retro metroid is true, I don’t know why they wouldn’t have shown it at all or even mentioned it if they plan on shutting down the wii u soon. And even still that’s just three games for the whole year. E3 they are showing the NX, and I HIGHLY doubt they are going to reveal it at E3 and put it on sale in stores the same day or anywhere close to it, so that essentially means 3 console games from nintendo on either system next year. That will mark the worst console drought yet for them I believe (though could easily be mistaken).
Atleast some developer is ready to make 3D platforming title for WiiU and hasnt atleast yet ditched it in favor of NX.

NX doesn’t even have a prototype yet lol, you can’t make a game for something that doesn’t exist yet that would be stupid. Nintendo has stated NX is a new CONCEPT, meaning it hasn’t been made yet.

I cancelled my pledge cause I wanted to use the money now to buy a Ness amiibo online. I’ll buy it next year when it’s out! Looks awesome!
God bless these people, really. Getting famous developers to develop games through Kickstarter is a great idea, I hope to see more of them jumping into this kind of business strategy soon.

We will see them ditch the wii u version next year which is exactly why I will never help fund through kickstarter. Take my money and run you will not. I support the games by purchasing them when they actually follow through with their word.
Doubt it, the game is running on Unity so yeah.
