  1. The leaker already said what rainmaker is!!! you have to burst it’s shield and carry it to the enemy base!!! and your friends have to protect you while to carry and it’s too heavy to super jump with!!!!

    1. Hey there. The e-mails go to Sickr, so I don’t see them. I just found this myself, but thank you for sending it in still! I’ll amend it :) Sorry!

      1. Like the other guy said, Ignore the idiots constantly bashing the sites. They think they know how this works, and bashing the bloggers and the site makes them feel important.

MNN is awesome. One of the MNN bloggers is a very good friend of mine and I’ve been a supporter for years. These types of comments are always going to happen, and I’d take it as a compliment if I were you guys. The more successful MNN becomes, the stronger the critics will get.

I love the range of news, I love the occassionl gaming news that isn’t purely Nintendo news. I love having one go-to site.

        Keep up the great work.

      1. I have to agree with you on this. That guy was quite rude, and thought he deserved a medal for tipping in.

        Tsc.

            1. It’s really an apology for those that have sent in emails in the past and haven’t been credited. They go to me, so if someone else writes a post up those that email in do not get credited. A shame, but it happens!

              1. Nintendo Tetrarch Quadramus-NX

                >>>Leave the useless cattle to me Sickr, they have nothing better to do than complain or fight me>>>

    1. I had moderate to good fun playing it. Ranked battle is where it really shines for me, as you really have to work as a team to get the job done. Super fresh customization, decent single player. A problem I had is when your team is doing nothing and you have to carry it like a mule and just cant win no matter what. You can also read MyNintenoNews’s Review here

          1. I try to fill my special gadge as I move towards the zone, most of the time I succeed and use it for a defense, aka, ink strike. because I finally got a good team and coming in at least second place of my team, I finally reached -B rank.

              1. that bubbler is a pain in the ass to get around, I’ll admit that and glad some of them use it near me when I’m in trouble. the best skill I have is all ninja, both super jump and swimming, thanks to those they never see me coming once the spotted me and continue to shoot in that same direction when I have openings…SPLAT, SPLAT!!! YOU DEAD…

                1. The bubbler has the disadvantage that it significantly increases your knockback, so they can push you back if they have a long range weapon. But if they don’t, DEAD indeed!

                    1. i just want to point out the people who are spraying the rest of their map are doing so to build up their special weapon, I’ve watch a person who would do it nuke the splat zone giving their team the early capture and they would win every time

                    2. or they can build up their special by splatting, you know, the SPLAT ZONES… or the enemy base. There are parts of the map that are significant to splat and there are parts that are not…

                    3. Now that I think about it, the hole point of the ranked battles is to control and protect the zone itself, My point of the whole conversation, that they don’t protect the zone after they claim it. As a result, I get killed alot and lose.

          2. I’ll admit, I go off on my own a little and build my special (mostly because I use weps with the Inkstrike which on most maps can take the point/make the opposing team lose control in one shot), but I make sure to keep constant tabs on the point.

Any more info and I’ll spill my full strategy, and Marie says it best:

“My strategy is not to talk about my strategy.”

          3. You paint walls to ambush in them.

You paint “random parts of the map” to charge up your inkstrike to cap the point by inkstriking one half and attacking the other.

There is alot more strategy to ranked than meets the eye.

            1. So how do you assume that the people who I mentioned were painting walls are people who “ambush in them”, or that the people who I mentioned were painting random parts of the map are people who “charge up their inkstrike to cap the point by inkstriking one half and attacking the other”?

      1. Thanks, man! I played it twice, during the global testfire. I thought the game is okay, interesting enough. But the main problem actually is that I’ve been having some financial restraints which are preventing me from buying some stuff I would like to. That’s why I’m on the fence yet.

    2. I felt that same until i just dived in and bought it. it’s one of those games you have t play to actually like it.

    3. I’m with you.
I’m waiting. I’ll but it when they add VC so I can talk and hang out with my brother. Dad and friends when gaming, OR, i can get it for $30-40 …maybe.

Doesn’t look like a bad game, but I’m not paying $60 USD for a half-baked game that Nintendo didn’t release fully functional. Online isn’t exactly doing that great either.

Xbox live has deals. You can find 1yr subscriptions to Gold access for only $30 $60 at the most. (never pay full price, MS always has deals for Gold mbership.)

If I can get an XBox1 for under $300…I’m picking it up…wait, does it play Blu-ray?

Until then, I played 2 hours of Mass Effect 3 (WiiU) def. The best version across ALL consoles. Straight Right made one hellava great port, and it uses the WiiU in every way I want. Chatting with friends while coop against enemies. Totally great for VC strategy.

So yeah, no splatoon for me. Just not there.

      1. PS, the reason I want an XB1 instead of a PC, is I don’t have to worry about upgrading my PC. XB1 streamlines developers so I get most PC games without worrying about if my specs are enough. They make the game work for ME…not the other way around.

Not sure. Again. Might just move away from serious gaming for a while. Going to start a Youtube channel late this year, so that will keep me busy. :]

          1. I believe they buy a digital copy which they download onto a external hard drive, they just have to run a program that can read it and in script the data, it’s not efficient enough to run the game, they literally just get lines of code, preview images, and any finalized footage in the game

          2. Actually none of the “new” content is an actual update. Its all on the disk and gets unlocked at certain times when nintendos servers say so.

The actual updates you see being downloaded are bugfixes and perhaps balance updates.

  2. I wish she would have written. “Thanks kevin…get a life you fat neckbeard ”

Locked disc content is crazy. Give me the game I paid for now. Not spread over half a year and have the nerve to call it free. Additional content can be made for a dlc pack

      1. “Free” – as in they may give you the full game eventually. Like MK8, Once they actually give you all the features you PAID for, I guarantee they will start charging you for DLC. Not really a big deal for them to give you features you already paid for. :)

        1. Take off the tinfoil. It’s not some sort of conspiracy. They’re just letting the content out slowly so the game stays fresh and feels new every week. It also helps people get adjusted to new maps instead of being thrown in over their head, which should be a good thing for all the kids playing.

And you know what? It’s awesome. It’s a good system, and I wish more games did it like this.

  3. I defend it for one reason. Only because they wanted people to actually have skill to unlock the other gear. Sure they could have given more but I can respect the fact of letting people hone there skills and reward them for it. Instead of giving you the best weapon in the game and not knowing how to use it.

    1. This and the whole world gets the opportunity to enjoy these weapons one at a time together. Though I’m still using the very first gun only.

  4. Still missing shittons of content plus chat and at $60, fuck outta here because I’m not going hypocrite and support Nintendo dosing the same shit the stupid ass fans bash third parties for.

      1. I can’t say the same for you. You recently went all crazy over someone posting something or taking credit or whatever some shit like that. What was that about? And ya say I lose my shit so easily. lol

          1. That E3 proved everything I needed to know but what really crossed the line what them fucking up Metroid again and I waited years for its return to its great roots and what we get is a fucking soccer mini game with shitty Chibi graphics…

From that point on, I quit Nintendo.

            1. Good for you. I don’t get why you’re still on here if that’s the case then, but maybe there is some deeper meaning. I’m not going to criticize, but I will say one thing as a closing note. Nintendo’s E3 was in 4 parts. In my opinion, The Smash Mini Direct-Which was decently good, The Nintendo World Championship’s-Which was awesome, The Treehouse Event-Which was pretty good and the Digital Event-Which quite frankly was a disappointment.
The majority of Nintendo’s E3 was really good, but the only disappointing part of their E3 plans was unfortunately the most important of them all, which is why people say that Nintendo’s E3 was disappointing. The thing is, the Digital Event started off so promising with that intro and smooth transition into Starfox, but then after that, it went downhill and the Yoshi’s Wooly World and Super Mario Maker part was, in my opinion, the only other good parts of the Digital Event. But that poses the question, was our expections just way too high to actually meet? Especially after last year’s Digital Event. Also, should the Treehouse Event be used as the place where they announce new games, I mean, 18 hours (3×6 Hours) is way more time to thoroughly show off new and soon to be released titles. I mean, how about they structure it like this, Quick Introduction-Trailer-Talk a little about the game-Show live gameplay of the game. Each game gets a about Half an hour of screen time. Would that make things a little better?

              1. They basically already do this with their TreeHouse Live segments, albeit the trailers are constantly being played at the event and separate on Youtube. If there were no Digital Event we would be complaining that there wasn’t one and still complaining about the questionable games. It’s as you said. Nintendo’s E3 was good, but disappointing where it mattered the most. I watched the TreeHouse segments for all of their great games and in hopes that the disappointing ones would shed a glimmer of hope, mainly MPFF. Saw some good stuff especially Fast Racing Neo and the Titania stage in Star Fox Zero. Fatal Frame solidly has my interest still and am greatly looking forward to it. I just want Xenoblade at this point. I’ve seen and heard enough that I do and don’t like about it. And I know I’m going to get a lot of hate for this but MPFF looked fun. I loved seeing some of the familiar Metroid enemies. like hoppers and the space pirates, and the intensity of the missions as it looked when it was played in the TreeHouse. Yeah, it would look so much cooler if it was like the beginning of Echoes or the Bomb Mission in Corruption with the more mature look, but maybe we’ll get something like that in the future.

          2. Nintendo Tetrarch Quadramus-NX

            >>>He’s been done with the empire for about 6 weeks now and yet still comes here calling others hypocrites, how about go joining that PS4 then you claim to hate as well hypocrite?>>>

            >>>But just wait, he’ll probably reply again saying he’s done with the empire and so called fanboys and still linger here>>>

        1. I'm a Boss Ass Bitch

It’s nothing. I’m off my meds. I act really shitty when I’m not on my meds. So Thats What That Was about. People should learn not to do or say stupid shit though.

    1. Urm, where you getting that from? People bash 3rd parties when they CHARGE us for the locked content. That isn’t what is happening here. They’re giving it us for free. See the difference?

      1. I mean the fact that they’re releasing an incomplete game early is polar opposite of Nintendo’s philosophy especially after they just said this: “Delayed games are good and rushed games are forever bad” which is aiming towards most of what third parties have done to screw their own fanbases and Nintendo dares repeating the same going against their word. That’s why it’s a bad thing. See the fucking difference or are you still suffering the “Stupid Fanboy” Syndrome?

        1. Nintendo isn’t repeating that here nor going against the quoted words you mentioned. The content that is already there on the disc is being given to us for free, albeit over time. Based on what we now know is locked in the game and would have known later anyway, you cannot say that the game was rushed out and thus incomplete. It’s not the same as the content being there locked already and then having to pay to unlock it like what some other titles have done.

          1. Then WTF they launch the game incomplete at full price then? Why not just wait another month to completely add all of the content and then some? Or is it you fucking dumb fanboys completely forgotten what makes a terrible move on games?

            1. In all seriousness, are you trolling right now? We’ve already established that all the content is there and I already mentioned that it comes out over time for free and with a purpose. Any extra content beyond that is definitely extra, and we may pay or not pay for it. But all of what they said in the Splatoon Direct, minus the Splatfests, is already in the disc. There is no waiting another month to add all of the content in the disc because it’s already there. If you wanted more than what we are already going to be given through unlocking parts, then that would take more time to develop, but they would still be doing the same thing they are doing now and releasing that content over time.

    1. Just Xenoblade 3D for now…which has been amazing I mighy add. I’m finally finishing the game since I can play it anywhere. A little at work, close the lid, play a bit before bed. Epic game. And most don’t know just how great the story line gets after 40 hours or so. It’s like reading a well scripted scifi novel.

  5. This is why I am not getting Splatoon for a long time, I dont care if its “free”, content on the disc that needs to be unlocked through DLC and updates is complete and utter bullshit. That excuse they give for “so everyone can unlock at the same time” is complete crap, if that’s true then they should have not put the content on the disc at all and added it as real updates, they basically took a game full of features and gated everyone from having access to it as soon as they got the game. I would be fine if they wanted to do something where you reach ranks to unlock the stuff, but forcibly making people unable to access stuff they put into the game until they feel the time is right is just scum bag levels of low, they might as well just released the game as Free 2 Play for the base game and then make all the extra content payed.

    1. What’s the issue? Patience is virtue. You’ll get the stuff, and you’ll get it for free. Why complain? You’re making it sound like they’re pulling an EA and charging you for locked content. All this is is a way of making the game have a longer life, and a way to keep it fresh and exciting every week. It’s a good thing.

    2. ……..you’ve got to be THE DUMBEST SON OF A BITCH ON THE PLANET!! So you’d rather pay $60 for the game. & another $39 for a season pass? Or $7.99 for wardrobe #1? Then $8.99 for wardrobe #2? Then $5.00 per level? Then $1.99 per paint gun? With over 45 different weapons in the game. You’re saying “Fuck You Nintendo & your FREE QUALITY GAMING! I perfer to pay a total of over $100 for a got damned video game that I’m more than likely gonna trade in about 2 months from now”

I’d heard about “Helen Keller Fanboys” being blind, deaf, & retarded but I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD ACTUALLY MEET ONE!! Lmao

        1. Whatever Helen Keller was back in her day. Even she would admit (after being taught by the miracle worker) that these “modern day casual- ACHIEVEMENT POINT MOTIVATED- Graphics whoring- DLC OVER PAYING”- are complete IDIOTS!

But….you’re correct. Helen Keller was indeed deaf, blind, & mute. Not retarded.

  6. I had a feeling the maps were already on the disc…there’s no indication of any kind of external download whenever a new map gets released.

  7. The developers claim the locked content on the disc was done as their strategy to keep the interest of the online community instead of releasing it all on the first day and honestly I can understand.

On my stance, what keeps me playing an online game is the community and the communication. Sadly there is no communication in Splatoon so I doubted I would play for a long time but the concept was fresh and something new. Whoever knew paint- sorry, inking the ground could open up so many possibilities? The colour rotation was an excellent idea as well because even if you play the same maps over and over again, the colour rotation keeps it fresh and the constant change during the battle as to who has the most area controlled offers that strong re playability.

I knew though if all the content was released I would had been finished by now but instead they are slowly unlocking the content which offers me a reason to return to the game for. If ONLY it had custom match making and voice chat with friends at the VERY LEAST, I would play it for so goddamn long, you would see my first beard grow. I agree with this strategy but the only thing I disagree with is the lack of options you are given in the beginning. Not modes but custom lobbies, communication in your team and a way to CHANGE WEAPONS IN THE LOBBY!! Other than that I agree with their strategy. Oh and nope, I’m not one of those fans that bash third-party developers on what they do. I’m a fan of Nintendo for different reasons here.
