Nintendo Says It Has No Problems Transforming Beloved Franchises, Despite Fans Outcry

The initial response to Metroid Prime: Federation Force at this year’s E3 probably wasn’t what Nintendo had anticipated. However, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime says that the company has no problems transforming beloved franchises and making them feel new again. Reggie also said that fans shouldn’t worry about Metroid Prime: Federation Force and asks them to trust him and the company to ultimately deliver a great game.

“We’re taking our great IP and transforming them and making them new again — making them fresh and appealing for the fan who feels they know the franchise. But we’re giving them new things to enjoy.”

“What the fan at home saw was something in the Metroid Prime universe that they weren’t expecting. The reaction has been negative. There’s no sugar coating it.”

“This is an example where fans who aren’t able to get their hands on the game may be at a bit of a competitive disadvantage. Everyone who has played what we are showing regarding Metroid Prime, they’ve come across really pleased,” he continued. “My ask is that fans trust us.”

“Mr. Aonuma has said that he is challenging many of the conventional wisdoms of Zelda gaming in this new Zelda, and that’s what we do. We believe we have to do that to keep the franchises fresh,” Fils-Amie said.

“We believe that in order to propel the franchises forward, we have to be the ones to constantly challenge the paradigms, challenge the conventional wisdom, challenge what we thought was the essence of the particular franchise, and a particular form of gameplay.”

Thanks, MasterPikachu6

    1. Let’s face it. The problem with Metroid Prime Federation Force, isn’t the gameplay, it’s the fact that it’s been 5 years new since the last Metroid game and even then, that Metroid Game wasn’t even well recieved. Plus, it holds the highly praised title of Metroid Prime, which makes people think that they are being teased and mocked about the fact that almost everybody wants a Metroid Prime 4. I guarantee you, if this was announced alongside the next true Metroid Game and as was just called Metroid: Federation Force or even announced as a 3DS launch title, then I bet that nobody would complain about this game and many would be willing to give it a chance. The problem isn’t the game itself, but rather the timing of the announcement. Well, that’s what I think anyway…

      1. I agree Taker. It looks like a fun game. My theory is that MP4 will be a launch title for NX. Nintendo has been talking about how much they know that’s what we want, Reggie said stay tuned, and someone who’s name slips my mind said he hopes other games at E3 can hold fans attention until the metroid they want comes out. Sounds fishy to me.

        1. I personally hold no opinion on if this game looks fun, as the only Metroid Game I have played is Super Metroid, but even then I only played for about 20 minutes because I didn’t really get what I was doing, because that was the first time I have ever played a Metroid Game. So as such, I don’t know what is considered ‘Fun’ in the context of a Metroid Game. That being, said, now that I have watched SomeCallMeJohnny’s Metroid Marathon and now have an understanding abojt what I should be doing, I will be gojng back to Super Metroid at some point jn the future.

      2. You know what? That’s very well said, and I tend to agree with you.

That being said, I think I speak for most of us when I say, “Fuck you Reggie. We have no problem spending our money elsewhere.”

        1. Pretty much. I mean, me personally, I won’t be getting the NX at launch. I am going to wait for a few big name titles to come out and maybe a small price drop from launch price and they release a few good bundles, before I decide to get an NX. That being said, I might won’t get the NX at all, if Nintendo don’t advertise the NX properly. If they don’t advertise the NX properly, then Nintendo hasn’t learnt their lesson from the Wii U, but if they do advertise greatly with the NX, then I will eventually get the NX. That being said, I don’t regret buying the Wii U Launch Day from a useage stand point, I use the Wii U more than any other bit of tech I have ever owned. My only regret for buying the Wii U at launch, was that I missed out on getting some great bundles. Like the Wimdwaker HD bundle with the Cool looking Gamepad Design or the Mario Kart 8 bundle, because I love Mario Kart.

            1. Agreed. Although having cash in the bank, the company brand/aspirational value is dropping full steam.

      3. I think it was more of the art style and slightly childish look of it. plus while every one has bin wanting a Metroid tittle that can live up to sifi shooters of the modern time , and with the online vs mode we excpect. and instead we get something that looks like its for a 8 year old

      4. I also agree. i would say that Metroid Prime is probably my favorite out of all of them and not seeing a Retro led sequel yet is disappointing especially with the march into HD.

        1. Agreed. A HD Metroid would be kickass…….As long as they don’t go down the Other M route…

      5. I think if they removed the MP name, and give it it’s own name.. and treated it like a new IP, people might have been a little more willing to accept it.
Maybe call it.. Galactic Federation Force… and remove the MP name.
In fact that should have happen to begin with.
        But he damage is done.
Nintendo has to realize, they kinda gotta be careful about things, or end up pissing a lot of people off.
But sadly, i don’t think they care.

        1. But the Galactic Federation is from Metroid so it would still technically be apart of the Metroid IP

          1. Yeah, but the name would not be there. People would be none the wiser until WAY later. They could have gotten away with that more than having the MP name there.

            1. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

Like how it came as a shock to people that first played Metroid & knew nothing about it discovered they’ve been playing a woman the entire time.

              1. On the NES, yeah. Back then it did not phase me.. as i owned a Sega Master System first, and played Phantasy Star 1 first and the main character was a female there, Alis Landale.. so when i eventually got to play though Metroid, it was not much of a shock.

    1. So let me get this straight? When Uncharted drops it’s multiplayer, ND is like “Deal with it” but people still stick by them, but having Nintendo say this, it pisses you off? By your logic Hyrule Warriors was a sign if ignorance to right? You don’t need to buy the game and same with me. Obviously people won’t buy this crap.

        1. The Nathan Drake Collection, although where he thinks people aren’t pissed off about it, I don’t know. And why people feel the need to bring up something that has no real relevance to the actual problems Nintendo has of it’s own, is beyond me.

Plenty of Sony fans are very angry at the news and think it’s bullshit that Naughty Dog is doing that for this collection. What’s dumb is the one problem isn’t even comparable to all the fuck ups Nintendo has made over the years. Naughty Dog makes one mistake after a pretty good track record, and all the sudden it’s comparable to every mistake Nintendo has made? Okay.

It’s only in the collection also, and why would anyone buy the Nathan Drake Collection anyway? You could buy each game individually for cheaper and get the multiplayer intact on PS3. Also who buys Uncharted to play the multiplayer? Seriously, not saying people can’t enjoy it, I didn’t think it was that amazing, but it isn’t a multiplayer focused game begin with and I can’t imagine someone specifically buying that type of game for the multiplayer alone.

You have Nintendo making a lot of multiplayer focused games, that do not include any form of online multiplayer. Which is even worse, if you want to compare shit like that.

Pretty sure plenty of Nintendo fans have put up with their mistakes for a long time and just stuck by them, again the problem with that is you can only make so many mistakes before you lose the trust of a person.

So nice try with that fanboy bull crap. Problems are problems, and just because Sony or Microsoft might have problems, doesn’t make Nintendo’s excusable, either. The other huge difference as of late is that Sony and Microsoft have actually been listening to their fans, unlike Nintendo.

          1. That’s one of the most aggravating things I see by fanboys. It’s so fucking retarded. Nintendo fucks up. “Well Sony did this. Or how about Microsoft did that.” Fucking retards. Has absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand. Because they fucked up it’s ok for Nintendo to fuck up? I don’t give two shits about the other companies. We’re not talking about them. It’s the true sign of a fanboy. And it’s also a very clear show of desperation because they have no substance to their argument. They have no valid points, so they bring up someone else’s fuck up and ignore the topic at hand. Glad I’m not the only one that notices.

      1. The difference between this and Hyrule Warriors is that around the time HW came out, we knew about Zelda U and that it was coming, and Skyward Sword and Link Between Worlds were still fresh in our minds. With this, the last Metroid game that came out was the god-awful Other M that nearly destroyed the series and we hadn’t heard a definitive word about a new Metroid game. Then they show us Mega Blocks Soccer: Space Edition and dare give it the Prime name when it looks NOTHING like what Prime is. They pretty much pissed on the fanbase and called it rain.

    1. Then it’s up to the fans to take action: We need to create a new Metroid game, a new F-Zero game and a new Ice Climbers game ourselfs

      1. Unfortunately, we don’t know who is truly behind all the casual shit. Iwata, Reggie, and Miyamoto all speak out of both sides of their mouths. So just because Miyamoto isn’t doing the hardware doesn’t mean it won’t be casual. Miyamoto said this in an article about casuals: “Their attitude is, ‘okay, I am the customer. You are supposed to entertain me.’ It’s kind of a passive attitude they’re taking, and to me it’s kind of a pathetic thing. They do not know how interesting it is if you move one step further and try to challenge yourself [with more advanced games].” And yet we still see casuals being catered to.

    2. And your statement couldn’t be more false. The current Wii U library, and several upcoming games, show they aren’t catering to casual gamers. In many cases, they’re trying to appeal to both. Pikmin 3, Mario 3D World, Bayonetta 2, Wonderful 101, Smash Bros, Splatoon, Xenoblade X, Mario Maker, and Tropical Freeze are only for casual gamers? Another day, another dumb comment on MNN.

      1. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

Sure, the Wii U started out this way but there seems to be a growing trend of catering to the casual market. The decision to go mobile was apparently just the start. :/

  1. Man… what’s with these titles lately? You guys are really trying to rile up your easily excitable readers…

  2. I am so happy that Nintendo is doing this. I could care less about this fanbase because they are nothing but a bunch of whiny cry babies who want things done their way. They cannot accept new ideas and they are afraid of change.

    1. It’s not that we as a fanbase are “whiny cry babies”, it’s just that Nintendo failed. When I think of transformations, I think of Call of Duty. They transformed their gameplay in AW with the Exo mechanics, but left everything else virtually untouched. THAT is a very good use of transformation: adding something small yet dynamic that makes its fanbase pleasantly surprised while new fans (like me) say, “Oh wow, let’s do it!” This “metroid” title, however, changed TOO much in a single game. Its art style, switch of main cast, storyline, AND gameplay have been altered beyond recognition. The Metroid fanbase has the right to be upset, because they didn’t transform Samus -> They pushed her out of her spotlight. I think Metroid fans can agree Nintendo is acting like the Galactic Federation at this point!

    2. People love to accept new ideas, when it actually makes sense. A lot of things Nintendo does, make absolutely no sense and the only people who think it’s a good idea are them for the most part, and people like you.

All you people ever have to say is the same bullshit, get better arguments will you? While the people capable of actually thinking for themselves, come up with several points as to why these decisions suck, and all you guys can come up with is that we whine?

Damn, you sure know how to make a point.

That’s like being a company, taking a product survey to gauge the interest of what your consumers would want from you, then making something completely opposite to what any of your consumers ever wanted in the first place. Yea, that makes plenty of sense, doesn’t it?

This has nothing to do with new ideas or change, and the game is clearly such a half assed effort.

I find it pathetic that more people can’t see this. It had nothing to do with Nintendo wanting to break the mold. They just thought people would eat this up just because it has Metroid in the title.

And their excuse is so that older franchises don’t become stale, are you fucking kidding me? If anything this will literally tarnish the franchises name. Any new comer to gaming, who has never played the other Metroid games, will think of this crappy title in the future as an example of the series…

Again there is no logical explanation as to why this game exists, other than Nintendo trying to use the name to sell the piece of crap game. Same goes for any other crappy Metroid spin offs, which again you ‘d think Nintendo would have learned from, but that is nothing new coming from Nintendo.

  3. Personally, I’m glad that Nintendo has the balls to do this despite the outcry. Those who say Nintendo needs to “listen to the fans more” are nothing more than entitled brats.

    1. Well they still need to for the sake of relevancy and interest but I will agree that change isn’t always a bad thing. The game is still shit to me, but at least they made it a spinoff and at least has Samus involved.

    1. The thing about that was that the Metroid Series had no spinoffs(to my knowledge,) between Super Metroid and Metroid Prime, so the fans didn’t feel like Nintendo were just simply avoiding making a proper new Metroid Game. Where as yes, the space between Metroid:Other M and now is 5 years, but the fact that many people think that a spin off is being made instead of a proper Metroid is what infuriates people. But it might be worth it if the next Metroid is really good.
On an Semi-Related note, I think that the reason why nobody has a problem with F-Zero in Mario Kart 8, dispite the fact that it’s been like 10+ Years since the last F-Zero game, is because at least Nintendo made good use of the franchise in Mario Kart 8, by adding Big Blue, Mute City, the original Blue Falcon design (not the one from Mario Kart Wii,) and 200cc, as an experiment to see if the fans REALLY want a new F-Zero game. And some are holding on to that potential idea and saying that F-Zero in Mario Kart 8 wasn’t even a bad thing.

        1. Prime Pinball came out a mere 1 year after Metroid Prime 2, so I don’t see that as a problem in terms of release. Because 1 year isn’t even vaguely long in terms of Video Game releases. I mean look at how many people complain about yearly releases. They clear don’t think that 1 Year is very long.

          1. I’m about people taking their time with ideas instead of rushing it like COD, and assassin creed

  4. Honestly, people wouldn’t be bitching anywhere as much if they had released the game as just “Federation Force” and made passing comments like “oh yeah, by the way this game technically takes place in the Metroid universe and Samus will show up in it at one point”.

  5. As the owner of the IPs, Nintendo is free to do whatever they want with them. But many times, they need to be more open-minded and look at what people want to play, many times people don’t want to play “something transformed to make it new again”, people just want to play a new entry in their favorite series. There is a reason of why does Mario Kart and Smash Bros. always are successful, they barely change what makes these series comercial sucesses.

    1. I think they are going for the younger types as Metroid is more for older kids. The Metroid games never sell well, at least in comparison to their other franchises. Do they probably saw this as a step to widen the fanbase.

      1. Hmmmm… nice thought, Metroid is really not that popular, most fans love to remind of Super Metroid and the first Metroid Prime for being excellent games (as for myself, I cleared Super Metroid a bunch of times), so, I believe that people who felt instulted with this game were waiting for a brand-new Samus adventure on the same scale of the titles I mentioned, at the same time I can understand their rage (despite not being the appropriate reaction), I want this game to be good, as always, because this is important.

  6. What the people complainning about this game REALLY needs to do in order to make Nintendo hear their insatisfaction is quite simple: DO NOT BUY THE GAME!! Instead of make 100 petitions that people forget in the following day or cry and whine along the entire internet, simply don’t give your money to Nintendo in order to have this game hurt them where it matters for Nintendo, if you want to show you hated the game at first glance, don’t buy it!

Petitions doesn’t change a game, comercial failure does.

    1. Yup. Got that covered. Didn’t buy splatoon either. But I’m only one person!
Who do I gotta fuck to get a proper metroid sequel!!

            1. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

It won’t be finished til sometime in August and just because it doesn’t need voice chat doesn’t mean it wouldn’t be fun to have it for those of us that like to actually talk to people. If we come across some immature idiot, we can just mute them.

    2. You’re saying don’t buy the game, but did you read the article?
Everybody who has played it loves it.
Just buy it so Nintendo knows that people still want the Metroid franchise.

      1. I said this directed to the ones who insist to bash the game, since asking these people to shut up is not enough. I want to know more about the game, I wonder if I will like it.

  7. Yeah…it better be a spinoff. W/ that hope in mind, the gravest offenses re this matter for me is the attention to 3DS instead of Wii U, & the unmet anticipation of a new mainline Prime on Wii U.

More importantly, where is the 1st-Person Adventure shooter genre? Prime or not, has anyone encouraged it to expand beyond 1 IP & only 3 games? I’m tired of Nintendo having such a monopoly on genres, which seems more & more the case each gen. FPA Shooters, Kart Racers, 3D Platformers…if it’s not Nintendo, it’s indies or both, but rarely 3rd parties anymore. Yet not a single gaming company is innocent, all have genre monopolies, & all have even killed certain genres…thus all are punished, publishers & gamers alike.

  8. “Fresh” – as in, It looks like Nintendoland? And animal Crossing party looks like the last 10 Mario Parties?
Way to keep it fresh Reggie!
Tell us to deal with it and stop with the fucking bullshit excuses. You re-released the Metroid Prime trilogy in the eShop as well as made a big deal about other Metroid VC releases ON PURPOSE. To get us excited for a new metroid game. (which is exactly what happened) – So in addition to not getting a metroid prime sequel, you also kinda used and manipulated the fanbase.

Just release your fucking game and stop treating us like morons.

    1. You got excited all by yourself. You can’t blame anyone for that. Also, how the hell does this look like Nintendo Land?

Gasp, another blind hater. Just stop whining; if you don’t want it, don’t buy it. No one cares about your moaning on a WordPress article. You sound like a self entitled brat. But it’s okay, there’s plenty others on here.

      1. I’m right about what I said, and I’m not the only one that feels this way. Nintendo doesn’t spend day after day making excuses and apologizing jusg because I’m disappointed.

It’s called Brand Equity, Brand loyalty, and a B2C company can’t afford to burn through it like Nintendo is.

      2. It doesn’t look anything like Nintendo Land, the Metroid Blast minigame on Nintendo Land looks about 10X times more Metroid than this shit.

  9. I really don’t hate the game it sounds like it has ideas, not a fan of the art direction. I do find the idea of playing as the FF cool, since we really don’t see things from their eyes. I also feel if the game did have a better style fans may have not reacted this way, in a way it windwaker all over again.

    1. Nintendo Tetrarch Quadramus-NX

      >>>Like I’ve said a few times in previous threads, you can’t compare Metroid to all the other Nintendo franchises, Metroid is supposed to be a dark, barren and a serious type of game, it does not go with any type of cartoon chibi nonsense style at all, it’s like turning the Alien movies into chibi crap and nobody wants that except imbeciles>>>

      1. The art style is NOT chibi. Please, look up chibi on Google.

This is more comparable to a Fisher Price toy.

      2. Sorry man, we old-school gamers are becoming irrelevant. All Nintendo franchises are being redesigned for kids. They like it, they are defending it, and if they get their parents to buy it, the old franchises will go away and become a set of board games. Nintendo wants to crank out as many games with the least amount of effort since noone else is making games for thdm anymore.

We saw the rebirth of gaming, and we’re watching the end. Kinda interesting to be as old as we are and seeing it come full circle.

Nintendo will be full-tilt mobile/casual in a few years, NX will not be a power house, instead, a platform to allow you to game across multiple platforms.

QoL…I’m guessing it’s canceled. Apples phone, Fitbit, etc will ensure Nintendo’s tech is obsolete on arrival, it was jyst something to keep all their investors from jumping ship. Now they have amiibo.

I wonder if even half of those that bitch about our bitching even know what the Metroid Prime trilogy is, or even played it?

        1. Nintendo Tetrarch Quadramus-NX

          >>>I’m sure the QOL will be for Japan only, the west is done for anyway>>>

          >>>I’ve said it a few times before too, if there isn’t at least 2-3 things that really appeal to me in the next E3, I’m going PC Master Race as a primary source>>>

  10. Eh. They’re your IPs, Nintendo, feel free to do whatever you want with them. The only true voice we as consumers have are your sales numbers.

  11. My Nintendo News needs to seriously chill with the titles of articles.
Like, no, that’s not what Reggie said.
They are just trying to make him sound like a complete ass.

    1. Chozodian Emissary

Agreed, first Star Fox Zero’s co-op mode is for “little kids” and now Nintendo has no problem transforming IPs “despite fans outcry”? They’re just trying to rile up the readers…

          1. No, you’re an entitled brat who expects to get whatever he wants when he wants. You expect everything to be exactly what you want and when it isn’t exactly that, you spout bullshit that the gaming market is crashing again, when it’s not. This is one goddamn game, and it’s going to be a good one, even if you don’t like it. I’m sick of this bullshit of “oh my god Nintendo is going downhill,” or “oh my god Nintendo is becoming a casual kiddy company”
            No. Fuck you.
            That’s not happening.

  12. thenintendoreviewer

While what he’s saying makes sense, you also can’t stray too far from what fans love about the series. And I’m not just talking about Metroid. I mean all game series’. I’m sure this is fun to play but you should still make a main series home console Metroid Prime game. 3D World is fun but people like me still want a Sunshine 2 or SM64 sequel. See my point? Trying to be new is good when it’s not too far from what we loved about the older games and what we actually want.

    1. Nintendo Tetrarch Quadramus-NX

      >>>Instead of changing the main franchises all the time, they should use all of these ideas to create new IPs instead, just look at Splatoon, it’s successful because of marketing and new FPS type of game>>>

      1. Exactly! There’s no need to mess with a great series. Use these ideas for new IPs, especially since Nintendo hasn’t had any new ones in a while aside from Splatoon.

  13. 1. Wow a bunch of retards in the comments section don’t like the game don’t buy it and ya retards won’t even give the spinoff a chance
    2. Sickr eats shit yo and my Nintendo news has had several click bait articles wording shit all wrong and or much differently then what was said and trying to make if sound bad when it’s normal nintendo talk and or something good

  14. That’s not what Reggie said at all. If you actually read what Reggie had to say it actually isn’t all that bad. It still doesn’t change the fact that Reggie needs to get fired before he fucks up the rest of Nintendo.

  15. It will flop but tyey’ll act like it was a success, idgaf they not gling to have my money. Why they dont cancel this shitty ds like game? Fuck u reggienand iwata.

  16. Sickr I don’t know if you’re actually illiterate/retarded or you just love dumbasses getting riled up just by reading the title.

  17. Did a corporation just ask us to trust them? Rofl See, this is the kind of absurd shit you get when you start kissing the feet of big business. There was a time when they felt like they had to fight for OUR trust. Now, they demand that we just trust THEM, & if we don’t, fuck it, they’ll fall back on the armies of brainless corporate slaves that now outnumber us. I wouldn’t trust Nintendo as far as I could throw their building. We don’t have that kind of relationship. This is business not a fucking friendship. Give me what I want, I pay. Fuck trust. I can think of a bunch of people who said “just trust us guys it’ll be alright”. Let’s start with Stalin, Hitler, and go from there.

  18. And yet, look at New Super Mario Bros. Sure, soon we’ll be getting Maker, but before that? Nintendo should have taken their own advice.

  19. Nintendo Tetrarch Quadramus-NX

    >>>-“challenge what we thought was the essence of the particular franchise”->>>

    >>>Don’t you dare apply that nonsense in the main Metroid games by turning them into chibi garbage like this so called spin-off or else I’m done forever>>>

                  1. Nintendo Tetrarch Quadramus-NX

9: The Inevitable Heat Death Of The Universe

“…The universe follows the same rules as any thermodynamic system, and they all end up the same way: with heat evenly distributed throughout. If we extrapolate that to our universe, we wind up with all of the matter evenly dispersed throughout—in a cold, dark, boring mist. Eventually, the stars will all wink out, one by one, and there won’t be enough energy left to ignite new ones. Finally, the entire universe will go dark. Matter will still be there, but in particle form, and its motion will be totally random. The universe will be in a state of equilibrium, and these particles will bounce off of one another without exchanging energy. We’ll be left with just particles in a void.”

                      >>>I’d like to have you as my Information Sub-Commander>>>

    1. I personally, will be picking this game up as the gameplay looks very fun. Hopefully, the game has some story going for it. I’m ok with Nintendo trying new things with the Metriod series is alright with me. People need to chill out. Metriod on NX is a better idea then Metriod on Wii U at this point.

    2. Me neither, honestly. As long as 3rd party developers work on the actual titles so that nintendo can still focus their studios on the actual IPs.

    3. xD Nintendo you are stupid.I already can say that the game won’t sell well.It looks like shit.Give me a Metroid for Wii u in HD.I want to see my Samus how she kicks asses.Sorry nintendo but we all know you can’t do anything right:That’s why the Wii U sucks and look at Sony.Their Consoles never struggle Fu** you nintendo.

    4. another stupid FPS i dont know wyh nintendo focused on FPS games on metroid series. they can make a remake for the super metroid SNES or make a platform 2 d or 3d but not an FPS we hope one day they will think of us really and make great games like another advance wars – goldensun – a true castelvania (not the last one i give it a 5/20) why not making a captain tsubasa plz NINTENDO think about older game espacially making a new resident evil like the super resident evil revelations 3D and thanks

    6. I hope it’s worse than Code Name Steam. So Nintendo actually gets the fucking point, that maybe they should listen to what their fans actually want every once and a while. Obviously not every moronic fan, but there are plenty of fans who have excellent ideas, and it’s very stupid of Nintendo not to take those ideas to heart.

It isn’t hard to tell a sensible fan from a delusional one, either. And I honestly don’t think it’s that much to ask of a company to actually listen to their consumer. Wouldn’t take much effort, hire one person to sit on a computer most the day compiling ideas from fans that they think are the best and most reasonable ideas, have Nintendo review those ideas and take the best ones into consideration.

I don’t think they realize how happy it would make people, if they did something like this. I mean just look how well Sony and Microsoft are doing with their fans as of late, they want something and they’ve been listening and giving it to them. Sure a lot of Nintendo fans may not see the appeal of a Final Fantasy 7 remake or the Last Guardian, but guess what? Sony fans have wanted this for a long time and they actually listened. So how is that a bad thing? Microsoft fans have been wanting Rare games and backwards compatibility for ages now, Microsoft listened. Did people not see how happy their fans were to see these companies actually care what they think?

What is Nintendo doing? Other than saying please understand, Reggie with his endless excuses and shallow way of thinking, and people waiting for these promises they make to actually happen, promises that they made years ago. I mean how long have Nintendo been talking about a unified account system or making a system for the core gamer, that always ends up more focused on casuals and is still stuck with the same crappy account system… Exactly my point, too god damn long.

      1. We’ve had a new Kid Icarus, a new Punch-Out, a new Pikmin, two new Donkey Kong Countries, OoT and MM remakes, new Star Fox, everything all over these 6 years or more. Geez, they do listen. Nintendo’s not only Metroid.

    7. Fucking damage controlling to the max. Face it Nintendo, your “transformation” of Metroid Prime is just a huge failure, that’s turning such an amazing atmosphere of loneliness into fucking party-game for kids. Good job.

    8. No, Reggie, you don’t change the core elements of a franchise, I know you don’t give a shit about Metroid, but you wouldn’t change the main Mario series into a life simulator, or the main Zelda series into a dating sim, would you?

    9. I’m glad I’m at least not the only one not happy with Nintendo and it’s current descisions.
I have a WiiU and a 3DS, tons of games, and recently Splatoon, but I’m not going to pretend everything they do is right, Amiibo Party and federation force the flagships of what’s wrong with Nintendo right now, the worst thing is that Federation Force wouldn’t have been so bad received if the gap between Metroid games wasn’t so damn large, and they rubbed salt into the wound when they confirmed they have not even started working in a new one and if they did it wouldn’t be ready until the next Nintendo console, they haven’t even said they WILL start working on one, I hope Federation Force flops and Amiibo Party too, also wanted a REAL Animal Crossing game for the WiiU and this is what they do, they are so out of touch with what their fans want it’s mind blowing, nobody asked for a Codename Steam either and look at how that flopped, failure will have to be the way to teach them, I guess.

Also screw Reggie, he seems so agressive in his interviews these days, like trying to talk down a child and convince them about what they really want, it’s infuriating.

    10. Yes Sir, got to keep these franchises fresh. Now, to get started on New Super Mario Bros NX, where Mario rescues Peach after she’s kidnapped by Bowser for the 513th time.

    11. Metroid fans are such fucking whining children.
It’s just a fucking spin-off. They’re probably testing the waters for Metroid NX.

It’s not like the Wind Waker situation where it was a MAIN LINE game being trashed by its fanbase. And that was pretty pathetic as well, since Wind Waker >>>> Twilight Princess.

    12. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

Transformations, eh? Fine! If Nintendo & their white knights want to play it that way, I demand a Mario game where, instead of jumping on the enemies heads or backs or kicking them & punching them, he’s using actual guns like a Desert Eagle or a Winchester Rifle or runs over them with his kart, leaving a body in a pool of blood behind! How’s that for transformation, Nintendo!?
