Tower Control Is Coming To Splatoon Tomorrow At 7pm PT In US

Update: 2nd of July for Europe

Tower Control, a new game mode, will soon be added to the already available multiplayer modes in Splatoon. This mode will be added to Ranked Battle, which also includes Splat Zones. The objective of Tower Control is to ride a single floating tower into the enemy’s base. Both teams rush toward the tower, which is initially placed in the center of the map, and the tower will start moving automatically once a player climbs aboard.

But beware: Riding the tower will increase the chances of being splatted, as every player has his or her target on the tower. Riding the tower alone is pretty tough, encouraging randomly selected teams of players to team up to accomplish their goal. Just like in Ranked Battle and Turf War, players will be rewarded for working together as a team. Surrounding the tower and protecting the player riding the tower, using each stage’s features to gain an advantage, and supporting each other are the keys to victory. Tower Control will be available at 7 p.m. PT on July 1. Fans can tune into a special Treehouse: Live with Splatoon Tower Control at 3 p.m. PT today to get a sneak peek of the new mode on http://twitch.tv/Nintendo.

The Splatoon game also features themed events called Splatfests that let players choose their allegiance in a popular argument and then compete against the opposing side in online battles. The first Splatfest for players across the Americas takes place all day on July 4 and asks players to choose which is better, dogs or cats, one of life’s great debates. Right now, players can already choose their allegiance in-game and receive a special in-game T-shirt showing support for their side. As players battle in Splatfest, they can rank up and earn in-game Super Sea Snails, which can be used to further customize and improve their gear. The winning team at the end of Splatfest will also receive bonus Super Sea Snails. Stay tuned for information about additional Splatfests.

Since Splatoon launched exclusively for Wii U on May 29, Nintendo has added a variety of new content, including new maps and weapons. The game will continue to be supported through new downloadable content, including an update in August that has more robust matchmaking options. 1. It is pretty damn empty, I’m not going to lie. I mean I knew it was to a degree, but I didn’t realize how bad it was until I bought it myself. And people give other companies shit for doing this, Nintendo should get the same amount of shit for releasing Splatoon like this.

Nintendo needs to stop doing this period, and find a better way to prolong a games life. Like I said, this is why I’ve gotten so bored of their previous titles on Wii U lately, and don’t even bother going back. They take so long to release content and it seems to be a trend with most their games lately, they want to keep content locked out for the sake of keeping the game around longer.

They can still do that, but how about giving us a more complete product first? Because Splatoon is far from complete, and I would not recommend that any person pay $60 for this game right now.

At the moment it might be worth $30, maybe even $20. It’s bad enough the single player is lacking, so short and so easy. Then you get into multiplayer, and there honestly isn’t much more, other than a better challenge.

        1. But you don’t seem to get tired, posting the same thing three times in a single news! Or maybe you just like to complain? :/
And by the way: May I ask which level you are and which weapon you prefer?

    1. I know right, I haven’t even had the game for 4 days and I’m already getting bored of it. What kills me is the lack of maps and modes right now, and the fact you can only cycle through two maps every 4 hours… They better add more maps to rotation, cause you end up playing the same map over and over again.

I also hope they add some more variety to the maps, I’m already tired of all this shipping container, industrial crap.

Would also be nice if they added more to single player, it was too easy, and it was the same thing practically the entire time. Other than the few differences between the bosses.

Was kind of disappointed in the plaza also, it’s cool and all, but I wasn’t aware that all the people in the plaza are just shells. Would’ve been a bit cooler if the plaza was fully online and you saw actual players running around in it, even if it only displayed a limited amount. The plaza just feels so lifeless to me, because of that.

It has a lot of potential, I’m just getting tired of Nintendo’s game plan these days. They did it with MK8, Smash Bro’s and this also. I get so bored of these games so fast, because any new substantial content takes so long to get released. In Splatoon’s case it’s a little worse when everything is already on the disc apparently.

They also need to get rid of amiibo exclusive crap, I have the splatoon 3 pack, but I don’t want to open it, and I think it’s crap their putting content behind amiibo’s now. Or at least make a way we can use amiibo without opening them, if we don’t want to.

        1. That’s weird. I got the three pack as well still in the box, but I’m definitely ripping into them one day and using them.

  1. I saw the 7PM thing thinking it was today…which would mean EU get it tomorrow..but now I’m sad because it’s not tomorrow. It’s Thursday… :(

  2. This game just keeps getting better and better. It seems that I could (and have been) play this for hours many days a week and never get bored.

  3. Thank goodness.

I hope they release content for this at a steady rate, cause this type of crap kills me. It has a lot of potential, but I know I’m not the only person who is already getting bored of the game, and I have not had it for more than a week.

This game is seriously bare bones, people were not exaggerating… It’s not okay for anyone to launch games like this, and I really wish it would stop, but it only seems to be getting worse in the gaming industry.

    1. As someone who always has to play the same stages in Smash with his friends, I understand a bit. I want to play everything first before settling on what we usually do in the end, but we do usually find what we like the best and play it the majority of the time. However, like you hoped, they do release content for this game at a steady rate. Between different weapons, modes, and Splatfests that content is different.

I haven’t gotten tired of the game, mainly because I have a lot of games to get to and work. Gaming takes a lot of time in my life. I am still using only the first gun in the game and winning top ranked most of the time regardless. I still have not purchased anything new, but I will some day. Even the releases are too often for me. lol

I agree with the way they are releasing it and us not having to pay for it. Makes finding other people online a cinch, though I don’t think that really would have been much of a problem. I haven’t really seen it done like this before in other games. Less content and less often, already in the game, and for a price I have seen. However, if that is not your quibble with this then yeah, I can see how that would suck for you.

    2. Im am in disagreement. Yes, the content at launch was bare. That was intentional. they wanted everyone to have the same time to learn the basics before they introduced new stuff. This way slow learners or people who couldn’t blaze through the game all day because of life wouldn’t feel left out.

Speaking personally. yes, i did get a little bored of this game. So i played something else for a while, let it get a bit fresher and then came back. You don’t have to power through everything like theres an achievement.

      1. Really, people get bored while playing this game? I’ve played this game for 6 hours straight, me and a friend taking turns, and I never got bored. Every stage is so different and there is 4 every 4 hours. Every gun feels different and there are a TON of those. Every game mode makes every stage and weapon feel even more different and fresh. And then every match is so different it’s hardly every even close the same. It’s crazy how fresh and new this game feels, it seems they add a new gun or stage every other day, and now a new mode. I don’t see how you could get bored.

      2. I play plenty of other games as well. The game is still bare, and I didn’t even buy it right at launch. Only having had played it for 4 days off and on, today being the 4th day. It isn’t like it’s the only thing I’ve been doing or playing, either.

I also feel like the single player is enough to get your bearings straight. And there aren’t that many maps at the moment you’ll be playing, so it isn’t hard to learn fast how to play them. I understand what you’re saying about leveling the playing field to a certain extent, but it’s still too bare in my opinion.

They could have released the game with more content, and still added more later on. I enjoy it a lot, but because there is barely any content right now, it gets boring quickly. I’m even using several different weapons just to spice it up. As to why I’m just hoping these updates come quicker than the ones in Smash and MK8 did.

“So i played something else for a while, let it get a bit fresher and then came back.”

Unfortunately that doesn’t really work for me. Just playing another game, is not going to change what Splatoon has to offer for now. It will still be the same thing to me, until it gets more updates.

“You don’t have to power through everything like theres an achievement.”

What is there to power through, anyway? Honestly. The single player is super short and very easy, and there is barely any multiplayer content at the time being. It doesn’t take much effort at all to get through all of the content it has right now. Other than maybe using every single weapon, and actually being good at each one. Even worse for people like me who have always been naturally good at shooting games.

I don’t have a problem with them trying to give people time to learn the game, but what about people who are familiar with shooting games already? Why can’t there be a better balance of content for players like me, and just enough for casuals to be able to grasp onto.

That’s my entire point. I haven’t even been playing this non-stop 24/7, and I’ve still managed to get through everything it has pretty much, besides mastering each weapon. All within 4 days of purchasing the game. I don’t see how that amount of content is excusable in any way, and as I said I didn’t even buy the game at launch, and I still think it’s too empty.

        1. I bought the game at launch and there are still stages I haven’t played, and weapons I haven’t bought. I don’t play the single player because the multiplayer is so much fun. Maybe if one day I somehow get bored of the multiplayer I will go play single player, and that’s what I’m holding it off for. Only thing is, I don’t see getting bored for many MANY months.

    1. Lol, tell me about it… I know it’s old as hell, but that is when voice chat really comes in handy. Especially in ranked matches.

      1. I would agree with that, except the only people you would have to say anything to are SO STUIPID there is no way they would listen. Personally it’s not to needed and I wouldn’t use it, but it should be in the game blah blah blah, this is an old argument. I bet they will put in voice chat with friends though, in that August update, it doesn’t go against any of there reasons why they didn’t want to put it in. Plus the August update is supposed to be all about match making options with friends and stuff right?

    2. Yea sometimes you get in with a bunch of people who have no clue what to do. You just look at them and say how in the world are you level 18 you play like a level 3! And some people don’t have a clue about splat zones. All they do is run off and act like its regular battle and splat everything but the zones! I just want to go and ring their necks! But usually my team is really good and we win, the games can be really close though, it can get scary;)

      1. My teams exactly! I’m the one carrying my team to win! I usually am the one that turns the match around and be come the offensive side! But other times I’m left behind by my own team..

  4. Can’t wait!

and fuck all you people bitching about the price and “lack of content”

nintendo is gonna support this game with downloads for the next like 4 years!

Look at it like this say there’s a game type you don’t want to play it right now so you don’t and a lot of people do play it and eventually they stop playing it and then you go to play and there’s no one there. they fix this problem. And if you don’t see that problem you’re just a fucking noob when it comes to online shooters
