Get Ready For A Live-Action Mighty No. 9 Movie

Okay, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard about the Mighty No. 9 live-action movie — murmurs about the script writing have been around since early 2014. However, today Legendary Digital Media, Contradiction Films, and Comcept have all formally announced the live action film. This is not Keiji Inafune’s first stroll with these groups — previously they have partnered with them to produce Dead Rising: Watchtower. For some PR-intense press releases, feel free to check out the following buzzword heavy statements by Tomas Harlan (partner at Contradiction) and Inafune (in that order).

We are thrilled to be working with the great Inafune-san on Mighty No.9 and feel so fortunate that the Legendary Digital team shares a common vision for the live action adaptation of this very special video game.

The announcement that Legendary Digital is collaborating with Contradiction and comcept on creating a live action project based on Mighty No.9 is really amazing, not only for myself and the rest of the team at comcept who worked on the game, but also for all the fans who have supported the project. This collaboration will give our creation the ability to reach people all over the world. Thanks to all of your support, we have fulfilled another one of our dreams.

Mighty No. 9 will be published by Deep Silver and will launch September 18th.

        >>>At least they have some talent and they are all better humans than that ape>>>

                    1. Lmfao! He likes backstreet boys over Justin beebs. Oh how sad. So much jealousy.

    1. Howcome in DK 64 Squawks complains that he can’t lift up TINY Kong, yet in DK 2 he can lift BOTH Diddy AND Dixie, both of whom are bigger than Tiny. Is Tiny hiding an extra lot of junk in her trunk or something? Like seriously. She has to shrink even more to be the same weight as Diddy & Dixie? First World problems? Nah Nintendo World problems yo!

    1. I agree, I don’t see this ending well. Why can’t they just do something like the pikmin shorts?

    1. People already like the concept so they figure it is worth jumping on the hype train. It is just like how people cosplay as characters before games or movies come out. Only, with more money involved.

    >A live action Mighty No. 9 movie
    >Live action

Animated, ok, but live action… Why.

      1. Yah whats up with that, I mean isn’t there like Several other villains that could grab some spotlight? Scare crow has always been a favorite one of mine and I don’t even follow the games at all. Just the idea is awesome. A scarecrow causing chaos. Love it.

        1. Black Mask as a villain for Origins to hire assassins to take out Batman was a clever feat but quickly died when it’s the Joker cod playing as him which is bullshit. As for Arkham Knight, boss fights are disappointing and again, they whored the Joker with a cheap ass mean to bring him back for which 1. I thought Batman cured himself and 2. I though Mark Hamill said he’s retiring doing his voice work at least for the games.

          1. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

Well considering being the voice of the Joker has been the one thing Mark Hamill has been banking money with, I can’t blame him for having a hard time actually staying away from the role. Not to mention I bet he loves hearing all the positive feedback he gets from his fans of his voice over work as the Joker.

            1. Not to mention that he also said the same thing about playing Luke Skywalker in Star Wars again. He once said after the original trilogy is done, he’s done. Now, here we are 30 years later starring in Episode 7 as Skywalker. XD Dude can’t keep a vow can he?

                1. He actually appreciates his fans and delivers. That’s why he’s great at his job and talents. Nintendo is nothing like that. They’re slowly converting into another EA except EA isn’t as sly as them.

  2. No Zelda movies. NO mario movies. Other than that, go nuts on any of them. I enjoyed the Final Fantasy movies, although Spirit’s within im not sure had anything to do with the games (don’t quote me on that, feel free to correct). Street fighter was good for me personally but I was young when I saw it first so add that up, for a movie based off the characters I feel they were represented very well. Won’t bother seeing pixels or whatever it is, no bro love for Sandler.

      1. Ok, I will say I actually liked the Original Mario Bro’s movie. But I did NOT like the way the Koopas or Bowser was represented. It just looked like a semi futuristic Mario themed city without the Mario Kingdom life. My cousin has a HUUUGE cut out of both of the actors standing in front of a big metal M. Its gnarly, he’s never gonna part with it… :(.

(Maybe Ill kkk..kk Kick him in the shins and take it!)

        1. Lol. An animated movie would be awesome I mean. I don’t think live action works at all with Mario. Even if it is a really good actor.

          1. If the art style was done correctly and the movie wasn’t overly packed with cheesyness of any kind I could be into that.

          2. Did you ever see the Mario Cartoons from the 80s & early 90s? They were awesome. The Super Mario Brothers Super Show was great, loved Super Mario Brothers 3 cartoon, and loved the Super Mario World cartoon. If you watch those cartoons you’ll get a little taste of what helped shape a lot of old school fans perceptions about the Mushroom Kingdom nintendo in general. There was also Captain N: The Game Master and The Legend of Zelda cartoon.

  3. I’m only hyped for the animated series. Live action is a bad idea.Sometimes company’s make bad decisions. But this is to far. I don’t want to see Justin Bieber wearing mighty no 9’s cloths.

  4. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

The hate for live action video game movies is strong in this article. Sure, most of them end up being a far cry from the games they are based off of, but there is the occasional successful one. *cough*ResidentEvil*cough* And if you ignore the fact Doom is supposed to be about demons & dead people pouring out of Hell as the Apocalypse has begun, the Doom movie is a nice guilty pleasure. Same goes for the Super Mario Bros, Street Fighter, & Dead or Alive movies. Sometimes, you should just watch movies simply to pass the time as you ignore everything wrong with them, whether it be the unrealistic stuff or the blatant ignoring of the source material if it’s based off something else.
