Shuhei Yoshida Has Reacted To The Newly Discovered Nintendo PlayStation Console

The recent discovery of what is thought to be a Nintendo PlayStation caused a huge buzz on the internet with a number of popular culture sites reporting on it. If there’s anyone to ask about the project then it is Shuhei Yoshida, the President of Sony Computer Entertainment’s Worldwide Studios. Yoshida was working at the company when the prototype was going ahead and says that he actually played some games on the legendary device. However, he didn’t want to spoil the mystery, so he wouldn’t confirm or deny whether it is in fact the real deal.

“When I joined Ken Kutaragi’s team [in 1993], there was a system called ‘Play Station’ that had both Super Nintendo cartridge support and some disc game support. Actually, I played some games [on it] as well.”

Alas, the exec made it very clear that he couldn’t confirm whether the recently surfaced “Nintendo PlayStation” device was legit, but he did give a cool reason.

“Somehow, I think it’s more fun to keep it kind of a mystery.”

Thanks, MasterPikachu6

      1. There have been rare NES games sell for nearly 100k. And this console is far more rare than any NES game.

    1. Way more than 10k. More like 100k, or even higher. Maybe One Million and Im not joking.

    2. I just want to see a video that proves it can play SNES and PS1 games, then I will admit it is rare and valuable :)

        1. I think he streamed himself playing some games on Twitch, but I only heard about that here on MNN through a comment so I can’t verify how valid that was. He should sell it for big bucks!

          1. No in a video he released he said he had no power supply and didn’t want to try anything random. He didn’t want to damage it.

  1. ….Howcome in DK 64 Squawks complains that he can’t lift up TINY Kong, yet in DK 2 he can lift BOTH Diddy AND Dixie, both of whom are bigger than Tiny. Is Tiny hiding an extra lot of junk in her trunk or something? Like seriously. She has to shrink even more to be the same weight as Diddy & Dixie? First World problems? Nah Nintendo World problems yo!

    1. >>>And an abomination that must be destroyed at once just like the human cattle>>>

      1. Shut it bitch. Actually i think it would be cool if nintendo and Sony worked together. Shows that companionship actually fucking exist in the gaming world.

        1. >>>Once they get rid off their shallow graphicwhoring and less movies in their machines then perhaps a temporary>>>

          1. Oh Nintendo has it problems as well. Way too many cry baby bitches in this fan base. Get rid of that and Nintendo’s dumbass decision making. Than the Alliance will be so successful that ratchet Microsoft will be blown out of the water.

            1. You’re the biggest cry baby Ass Bitch of them all. You weren’t even alive when this system was made so shut your as you would say “ratchet” ass up.

                1. >>>I can present all the evidence about you but then again, the empire needs some warriors>>>

                  1. Present it, write it down, take a picture. I bet you can’t present fucking shit. Lol

        2. I concur, a Sony/Nintendo companionship seem like a good duo. Sony handles the hardware & marketing hype. Nintendo can handle the the quality software.

          1. >>>It’s funny how some of you wants an alliance, you have the results right in front of you, the Sonyans want it all, there is no cooperation on fair terms>>>

    2. yeah i said in a previous article i won’t believe it until someone from nintendo or sony confirms it, but now i believe. holy cow.

  2. It’s official, this guy has one of the rarest video game console prototypes in his possession. Though I wonder how much it would actually cost when sold.

  3. It could sale for hundreds of thousands of dollars. It is absolutely THE rarest video game console out there.

  4. I would love to have it. No way in hell I would sale that thing. Not even for a shit ton of money. Thing is too awsome.

  5. Shuhei Yoshida is probably my favourite person of the entire video game industry, and this just makes me like him even more. He’s such a cool guy.

  6. So this thing can legitimately play PS1 games, or is that just a false assumption and it’s really designed to play Nintendo-specific disks that never existed?

Weirdest split in business ever. They created their greatest rival, and in the same run made those CDi games a thing. Too bad Argonaut and Rare also had to suffer from the same swing, with the latter dying.

    1. Most likely it does not play actual PS1 games but whatever game(s) that were created for demonstration.

  7. Wouldn’t it be branded “Play Station” though? I thought they combined the two words after they parted ways? I suppose it still copuld have been on the prototypes if they were considering one word, but I dunno… I thought the logo font was different, too.

If this is real (below), it shows something similar for the console, just rainbow colors instead, but the controller has a different font and is two words:
