Tsubasa Sakaguchi, the co-director of Splatoon, has revealed in an insightful interview that he and the rest of the team were extremely surprised to see gamers reach level 20 so quickly in Splatoon. He admitted that the team recognises that once players reach level 20 there isn’t much left to do in the game and hints that further content should expand this level cap. However, he isn’t at liberty to reveal anything just yet.
“When we were designing Splatoon, reaching level 20 was going to take quite a lot of time,” says Sakaguchi. “Learning the game mechanics with the gyro sensor – we thought that would take a lot of time. In that sense we’re surprised that people have reached the level cap in such a short time. We’re actually really worried about those people – worried that they’re still sleeping and eating! We recognise that a lot of people have reached level 20, and that there’s not much left to do in the game. There’s not much I can announce today, but I hope you can look forward to some future announcements.”

I prefer the gyro sensors. I can react quicker. I tried switching to standard controls, because people were saying all over the internet that it was the “definitive” way to play, but when I switched, I was TERRIBLE. I didn’t even know how to move lol! I realized it would take me a long, long time to learn how to use those controls versus controls I already knew how to use with the gyro.
So I switched back to gyro and now I’m fine.

It’s not THAT difficult to reach level 20, even more if you have the ranked battles with scores going over 3000 points.
I reached level 20 in like 2 days. I was obsessed with the game, but I haven’t played it in a while now.

I’m so glad I skipped this game, like, – I know some of you are enjoying it, that’s cool, but I would have been so disappointed after a few weeks. (I know I’d loved it at first) But I can’t afford to blow $70 on an unfinished game.

$70? Devil’s Third and Fatal Frame are my most anticipated Wii U games this year. Xenoblade X lost my interest months ago. They should’ve kept Shulk.
Shulk can suck my dick, the story ended good, there’s no need to continue it, it’s a completely new story, you sound like some of those smashtards that only know him from smash.
I was in love with Xenoblade Chronicles long before Shulk was in Smash & even I think they should have kept Shulk. Shulk wanted, wished even, to meet other people from other worlds & this game would have been the perfect chance to grant that wish. Just because his story ended good doesn’t mean he can’t pop up in someone else’s story to help them out when they could use a strong ally like Shulk. But I will still be enjoying Xenoblade Chronicles X when it releases here even though it’ll be missing some characters that I want to see again some day.
Oh & it would have been fucking awesome if we got the chance to have Fiora pilot one of the Dolls. What a missed opportunity. :/

4 hours is fucking retarded! That’s why I quit playing after a while because I’m sick of playing the same shit over and over again. 2 hours would’ve made a little more sense. The lack of maps is the reason for the 4 hour bullshit.

The only time I hated Splatoon was when a group of Japanese players with “1BM” on their names monopolized the arena and forced other players out by throwing the game.
Literally standing outside the spawn area with other “1BMs” from the other team until the time runs out.
Anyway i don’t know if leveling does anything to the Inkling but if it does, higher levels (even just 50) would be ice. And more maps so the choices will be 3-5.
I’m guessing they did that to play in a lobby with only their friends. Like, making others leave so their friends can join. You can’t really blame them, considering Nintendo simply didn’t bother to include custom lobbies in the game at launch, but instead forces us to play in lobbies with random matchmaking only.
Wow, so if that trend continues then it will catch on and become a thing. It happens in Smash Bros when I play sometimes.
Team matching starts in August so it be a major problem.

I’m saving for Fatal Frame 5, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Devil’s Third, Samurai Warriors Chronicles 3, Star Fox Zero, and a PS4. Oh & I’m very strongly considering Etrian Odyssey Untold 2: The Fafnir Knight because I’m really enjoying this lengthy demo of the game. In fact, I’ve been up all night playing it & I’m still not finished with the demo. lol Well I probably would be done with it if I actually speed ran it. But I’m having too much fun to run through it.

The gyro controls for Splatoon are what Metroid Prime 3 did for how first person shooters or in this case a third person can work! Gyro control took me awhile but it’s so much faster and accurate that the traditional way it blows my mind way others can’t adapt… It’s the closet to a keyboard n mouse than what the competition won’t do.

It doesn’t take long if you play for a long period of time. When I first got it I’d play for hours at a time, six to eight in one session. When you get a good group of players that stick around (or friends to join) you just keep playing. Hopefully this means they’re going to raise the level cap!
