Today, Ubisoft announced the development of ZOMBI, an upgrade of the acclaimed survival-horror game, coming as a digital download for the PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One and Windows PC on August 18, 2015.
After being one of the Wii U flagship titles in 2012, ZOMBI returns to challenge gamers on multiple new platforms to find out how long they can survive in dilapidated, infected London. For the second time in history, a great plague has shrouded the city in a fog of death. Thousands have died, or worse, been infected by a sickness more gruesome than death. Once again, this fear-fueled first-person shooter invites all players to dive into the horror, chaos and tension found in the best of the genre. The nail-biting survival experience has been optimized for PlayStation4 system, Xbox One and Windows PC, using the power of the latest generation of hardware to bring gamers to a new level of horror.
Players will experience the original oppressive and intense elements that made ZombiU so innovative. The bug-out bag is a necessary component for survival for each player as it contains all the player’s tools, inventory, first aid kits, maps and more. With permadeath, players are faced with a death mechanic which puts them in the body of a different survivor each time they die. In order to retain the equipment they previously gathered in their bug-out bag, they are forced to track down their old, infected character. Should players risk it all to get their bag back or start scavenging anew?

It’s not an upgrade its been degraded, now your stats are on the tv, and they axed out the multiplayer, this is prob gonna be a bare-minimum release on those systems, and I hope it fails miserably, like many said before now it’s a generic zombie game.
The game is also a digital only, you can’t buy a physical release, a major downside for collectors like me :O

From what I hear, ZombiU is like The Walking Dead: using a gun in a city full of zombies is a very bad idea as it draws way too much attention to yourself. Not many zombie movies use the fact that zombies can still hear & that using loud weapons like guns does more harm than good.

That’s 830K in nearly 3 years. Less than half a million of those sales came from its first year on sale, which also makes ZombiU the most successful third party game on Wii U… That’s not something to be proud of when third party games barely sell for crap on the system.

Is it some class of shooter? Not really. Most Resident Evil games have guns but they are far from being shooters (Resident Evil 5, 6, and the Chronicle games are the exception, though. Oh & the Mercenaries game.) Same thing applies to ZombiU.

No it was shit. Had game breaking bugs. I spend 16 hours my first playthrough and somehow I skipped an objective and completed the next one so I couldn’t progress and had to restart the whole game. 2nd playthrough got about 12 hours through and my guy died and fell through the game world into abyss and I couldn’t go retrieve a key item from my zombie self so again I couldn’t progress. Sold the game to EB Games for like $3 lol it was shit.
Majora’s mask had epic gamebreaking bugs when Nintendo re-released it, and like MM, Ubi patched them. Besides, it wasn’t even for everyone or everytime.

I actually loved ZombiU, but I play for fun, not graphics. Yes, it was very glitchy, but I thought that kinda added something to the gameplay, kind of like the original Resident Evil games. I was really hoping for a ZombiU 2 that would fix the problems from the first game. Ubisoft screwed us, yet again, so I have no desire for Zombi to succeed on any other platforms. If anything, maybe this will encourage more WiiU owners to try out this game. The use of the gamepad was amazing and probably the best it has been utilitzed by a game.

That would be funny. This entire debacle is funny, really. Everyone is to blame for this. Ubisoft for being assholes, Nintendo for not making the Wii U easier for 3rd parties to develop for, the people that defended Ubisoft, the people that defended Nintendo, the people that didn’t buy the game even after it was patched, etc.
Developers have said that the Wii U isn’t difficult yo develop for, probably a lot easier than it was fir PS3.
The problem isn’t the hardware. I guess the penny will finally drop for people when the NX comes out, “Hey the NX supports UE4” still has no third party support.
Part of the problem IS the hardware. Sure they can develop for it but that means they’d spend a lot more time making the games work on the Wii U than they will for the PS4 & XB1 since it’s vastly different from them. Most developers these days prefer multiplats over exclusives & the Wii U is not very multiplatform friendly if they want to get all versions out at the same time. So as I said, everyone is to blame, not just Ubisoft.

Actually it started out as a 360 game and hastily ported to Wii U, which really shows if I’m being honest,
I liked the game it used the gamepad well but it was nowhere near a stand out title.
Those saying that its the best use of the gamepad ever haven’t played Deus Ex,
I did play Dues Ex, and have since traded it, while ZombiU still provides suspense and fun years after release.
Dues Ex was good, but
1. Totally different genre. We are praising ZombiU for being an epic survival Horror, not a shooter-adventure.
2. The NPC’s in Dues Ex kept saying the same thing, and different NPC’s would say the same thing as others. AC4 has way better NPC’s.
3. Yeah, DEx used the gamepad well, but it wasn’t as good as ZombiU. In ZombiU the thrill was Heightened by using the gamepad as your bookbag (bug-out bag) and it felt like you were really exposed when using it. It was amazing use of the gamepad in terms of gameplay AND adding to the ambiance of the game.
Back off ZombiU or I’m coming after DEx! :)

I’m a Ubisoft hater but for the right reasons. They did screw us more times than not… but we, both Ubisoft & Nintendo fans, along with Nintendo had a hand to play in all of this. Can’t blame one without the other.
The one-sided “Nintendo can do no wrong” Ubi haters are the most annoying, but I’m mostly over it. I’m just defending one of my favorite WiiU games on this post. Literally the triage of Mass Effect, ZombiU and Little Inferno jept me from selling my wiiu after six months when it was obvious no help from Nintendo was coming.
Mass Effect 3 was actually going to be one of the games I bought for my Wii U back in it’s first 6 months on the shelf but changed my mind when I heard it cost the same as the Mass Effect Trilogy for the PS3.
Yeah…that pissed me off as well, but I caved, and am so glad I did. Mass Effect 3 on the WiiU was the best version of the game, the online multiplayer is so fun, I still play it today. It just keeps you coming back. Voice chat is GREAT for the multiplayer, the graphics are gorgeous, the gameplay is great, the story is great. The interactive comic to catch you up with the series was fun… If you like adventure/shooter/RPGs, you are really missing out.

You may not know this, but there are a lot of Nintendo sites that post wayyy more obscure and random shit than MNN. At least a year or so ago when I left for a month or two and came back because it’s simply the easiest way to get all the news on Nintendo and the few bites about other stuff in the gaming industry.

Yet another “Wii U exclusive” getting ported to another system, only this time, it’s the competition and not the 3DS. Other than Pikmin, Star Fox, and Xenoblade Chronicles X, is there even a reason to own a Wii U right now? Most other games it has that are any good are all on the 3DS as well.

The Wii U has some great exclusives still, Pikmin, Star Fox, and Xenoblade Chronicles X are not the only games worth buying for the system.
How about system sellers like Smash? There’s a 3DS version. Hyrule Warriors, the only Zelda game out for the Wii U right now (Zelda Wii U now having a TBD date, some saying it’ll just be put on NX instead) is being ported to the 3DS soon. Amiibos? Now they have 3DS functionality, so no reason to buy one for those either. Trust me, I would love to get a Wii U, but its exclusive library wasn’t big to begin with, and actually seems to be getting smaller as time goes on.
The 3DS has sold X4 more than.the wii u it would be a bad business decision not to support it. Especially as it dominates Japan.
Hyrule Warriors on 3DS, is probably down to tecmo just as much as Nintemdo, think about it…
The Wii U has quite a diverse library of games, mostly exclusives, Splatoon, W101, Bayonetta, Monster Hunter, Mario Kart 8, Tropical Freeze, Mario 3D World, Cpt Toad (I could go on) are all fantastic titles. Nintendo’s problem has been getting these games into people’s hands.
They pushed Splatoon and look what happened it’s selling really well. The system has great games but sadly the awareness isn’t there. Nintemdo really need to sort out their promotion dept.

The real problem with the reviews, is they aren’t really for the same game.
You take away a huge piece of the gameplay (the gamepad), like others said, strip out multiplayer, add an Assult rifle? (I can understand adding melee, but not an assult rifle.)
So, they are claiming Justified praise for a game they are not really releasing on other systems. It’s a varient, and I will agree with those that are saying Ubi is changing the game. Will it sell? IDK, but it won’t be the same experience.

I don’t think it’s going to sell well because it WAS on the WiiU. I think many XBox One/ PS4 customers will:
1-Categorize it as a generic zombie game
2-Not buy it to get back at Ubisoft for giving a 3rd party game to Nintendo in the first place

They did market the game, it was a pack in at launch and it was all over UK television at the time, I remember seeing the ads.
Nintemdo have actually mentioned Ubisoft games in their own ads, they even made Rayman a trophy in smash. Ubisoft on the other hand seems like they blew their Wii U ad budget on Just Dance.

The Wii U actually had a good launch, post launch was actually the problem, in 2013 basically nothing happened.
ZombiU was a strange choice for a pack in, but actually did okay for a new 3rd party IP.
hopefully it sells well and a better sequel comes along.
