Inafune: Mighty No. 9 Is My Child And Mega Man Is My Foster Child

Mighty No.9 developer Keiji Inafune is best known for creating the Mega Man franchise and has seen plenty of success with the series. But it’s the Mighty No.9 franchise that Inafune describes as his child as its his own personal pet project away from interference from Capcom. He goes on to describe Mega Man as his much-loved foster child.

“One difference between Mighty No. 9 and other games, Rockman, for example, is they’re both my children. But if you’re making it in a company, it’s kind of a foster child. You want to raise it in a certain way, but you’re going to have interference from other people, from the true parent, which is the company. It’s complicated. Mighty No. 9 is my child. I can raise it any way I want. I don’t have any restrictions. So it feels different.”

        1. More like someone took his child away in a divorce settlement and now he’s replacing said child but having another one.

          1. That’s what I want to know. If so, that’s a huge slap in the face for mega man fans everywhere. This is making me pull my mighty no 9 preorder right now.

              1. If you think I’m being dramatic, then obviously you’ve never read up on all the controversies surrounding the mn9 kickstarter, including having that sjw Dina as a community manager who made things worse? Don’t believe me? Ask the Internet aristocrat or EventStatus or check out “the Dina disaster” on YouTube.

        2. F*ck Inafune, f*ck all of this BS. I supported Migthy#9 Kickstarter and I fully regret doing that.

He and his team acted like greedy bastards, the game seems to be lame, and was pushed back a couple of times.

            1. nafune got $4 million out of this game’s kickstarter and blew more than half that budget on other unwarranted shit like the MN9 animated series and the MN9 movie. Literally nobody asked for this shit. No one. Especially not BEFORE the game’s set release. I’m also willing to bet Inafune used some of MN9’s budget for both the Red Ash kickstarters.

Since we’re on the topic of MN9, let’s talk about the game itself, shall we? It looks like shit. This game is scheduled for every major gaming platform right now and so far it looks like a mid-era Gamecube game. I don’t care how cheap this game is gonna be on release compared to other games. That is fucking unacceptable. I hope the delay means they’ll actually take time to fix it up but I doubt it.

The dashing mechanic or whatever you wanna call it is just ridiculous. Judging from pre-release gameplay, it looks like Beck is able to one-shot certain enemies with it no problem. He also seems to be able to do it at will without much risk. It just seems way too safe and easy.

Inafune played you all for suckers and you just can’t seem to realize that. Open your eyes.

          1. He looks nothing like X. Put them side by side – you’ll see.

He’s a generic knockoff of classic Mega Man. It’s lame.

        3. Megaman’s real father is Akira Kitamura. Inafune just created some ugly fanart of Megaman. And Zero.

        4. Galactus The Planet Devourer

You know what just occurred to me? The Legend of Zelda for Wii U still doesn’t have an official name. Or at least we haven’t been told what it is. That bugs me.

          1. Yep. They lock him in the basement and show everyone pictires from when he was younger and talking about how much they love him.

          2. Inafune is milking you dambasses and you are and are just damage controlling it like the sheep you are. lol

        5. well I think he just saying that Capcom interfered too much with the development process of Rockman and therefore he did not have carte blanche on the creativity side. With Mighty N 9 it’s a different process since he is in charge of the whole process and he keeps reminding us about it.

So at the end it will be interesting to see if mighty 9 is better than ay Rockman games. If it’s not the case, then Capcom was right to interfered and he will have to have a very good excuse if the sales are not good. As far I am concern I may pick the game when I have no game to buy on the wii U.

        6. Sorry, Inafune. You’re failing big time.

I used to be a fan, but you’re just doing all kinds of crap these days.
