Poi, which looks set to be a charming 3D platformer inspired by the likes of the iconic Banjo Kazooie and Super Mario 64, is now up on Kickstarter. The developers are requesting $80,000 for the game to appear on the Wii U. Poi has already been greenlit on Steam and the team hope to have it on Wii U in 2016. If the project looks like your sort of thing then you can help fund it, here.
Thanks, Hugobajoagrano
This looks promising!
Fund your own game.
If you haven’t notice, they have pretty much half of the game running. If you add up a few backers base on what they are asking for, they will have the money for the game in no time. And to add, what they are asking for as a kickstarter is basically pennies compared to others *cough* Mighty Number 9 *cough*. I’m funding for something that actually looks fun.
I am also getting a Wind Waker vibe from the art style and how the levels are islands.
Me too! Especially that later night seen when you could see the wind. Very much a windwaker vibe.
Kickstarter is out of control.

FUND YOUR OWN GARBAGE STOP USING NINTENDOS GAMES AS COMPARASON
Exactly, they can’t make their own games, only games that are based on others, are “spiritual succesors” etc. Right now, Kickstarter is a place where come game designers that left their companies (Iga, Inafune) or people that are making games “inspired” by other games. While I have nothing against people like Playtonic, Iga, Inafune, I don’t like all those guys who are making games inspired by something: UCraft crap, this “Poi” thing etc. Game designers! Mario 64 and Banjo Kazooie came out nearly 20 years ago and after those 20 years, you can’t create your own ideas? Just write on Kickstarter that your game is “based” on some old classics. Seems like the only key to success for them.
The gaming industry needs more 3D platformers, so shush
yea we do but not complete ripoffs of others but still this looks fun XD
Ugh, you’re a teenager aren’t you? You fail to realize that they are making games close or similar to these idea, because these like Mario and Banjo were good and continue to stand the test of time. They’re still better than most games that have been released for PS3/4 and 360/One. Kickstarters flock to Nintendo because no company is supporting Indie like Nintendo.
the reason there is less AAA games now a days is because they take longer to make now, the companies who are pushing out their games as fast as they can, ubisoft, are releasing glitchy messes
@Sickr: Here’s the first 75 mins on Devil’s Third :D
Despite what unskilled journalists (same ones that couldnt handle w101 and crawled back to the casual AAA games) are saying, i think Devils Third looks awesome. Thanks for posting that vid.
No prob! Yeh dude, I respect opinions and that but at the end of the day, it’s YOUR OWN opinion on what should determine you purchasing any game or not. I can’t wait to get it myself. Looks like loads of fun. Day 01 for me :)
no mouse gyro no touch screen tactical play no wii remote mouse aiming
it is a AAA game clone pro pad is NOT CORE SHOOTING its selling out to the very PS4 XBONE BONE HEADS PLAYING SO CALLED AAA
CASUAL GARBAGE TANK CONTROLS ITS ON WII U FOR GODS SAKE
GIVE ME UP TO DATE >>>CORE<<<< CONTROLS
You’re the most casual piece of shit ever you young ass fucking retard
@Sickr I’m also going to be doing voiceover for Bizerta : Silent Evil :D He’s a supporting character in the game and will have a good connection with Ash, the main character!
Yay for you nobody cares stop with all your self promoting bull shit
How about you just send that to the Contact Us section like you’re supposed to…
Looks like shit :/
I really think this game looks promising. It needs polished and hopefully gets funding. I’d definitely buy it to add to my Wii u collection.
Animation could be a little less stiff, but the charm is there and definitely a big inspiration from Mario. Looks like fun, but I don’t know if I would back it, my hopes are set on Yooka-Laylee.
Yooka Laylee does look good. I wish I had the money to spend on the backer package that let’s you voice a character in the game, which would be flipping awesome.
Back on the subject of Poi, it looks really good and after tweaking the mechanics, controls, and visuals a bit it will be a very nice game. I go to Nintendo specifically for their franchises and platformers which are rarely seen on other consoles. Its nice to see some developers still care about these games and make them.
I’d take a simple platformer over an over complicated “AAA” title any day and if I had the money right now I’d probably fund it, and if/when it comes out I’m definitely buying it (physical release if they’d make it). It’d be nice if they were like Yooka Laylee and offered backers a free copy of the game and other goodies like that.
I cant wait untill the kickstarter era is over…….
We need more games like this. Sadly I can’t contribute, but I do this game gets enough support and heads to the Wii U. The game needs a little polish as well.
contribute WTF RE YOU SMOKING CRACK
kickstarter and fundraser is a fucking CLEAR AS DAY pointer the industry is FUCKED
You do realize only idiots take you seriously, right? You caps lock way too much, dude, and it makes you look like an idiot.
no one cares, Yooka-Laylee is coming from real devs of Banjo-Kazooie and then theres Rare Replay aswell to get proper 3D collect a thon fix.
This looks like Zelda and Mario series bad a baby
I think it has a Ni No Kuni feel which had art by Studio Ghibli (sort of ponyo like) and I really enjoy their films.
Everyone saying that people need to fund their own games, and have to get some originality instead of ripping off some other game from the 90’s. Shut up. These people aren’t ripping them off, their just making the game in the same genre ( just like evryone else) if they hadn’t said, ” A game similar to the likes of Mario 64 or Banjo Kazooie, you wouldn’t be saying that. This games looks so amazing and has tons of charm, and I can’t wait to play it
Ok.
GAMING IS ENJOYING GAMES NOT DEFENDING A INDUSTRY
U SHUT UP
Ironic, you defend Nintendo like it was your left Nut. Whatever though you typing contradiction.
>>>Probably a tad better than the human Lenny Kravitz exposing his…>>>
Well in his defense it happened as an accident XD
Can we get a gif for anyone that not aware of what happened? Lol I’m kidding of course.
>>>Too late, several are already out there>>>
I meant on this forum post lol again though, I’m only kidding.
>>>Maybe someone does it regarding Sasori as usual…>>>
Is that clown even around anymore? I know his fakes stuck around, but I havent seen him a long time.
Sasori is still around actually. He’s actually rather tame these days compared to the Church of Sasori loser/losers.
>>>He posts sometimes, but many will never forget him>>>
I guess I’ve been missing his post then. Haha No, I don’t think I’ll ever forget some of the stupid things he’s posted.
You’ve probably went right by his comments a number of times & never even knew it. xD I’m trying to remember his current name but it’s not coming to me. *tries to knock down the road block in my head but it won’t come down* Damn it!
I probably did, I haven’t been as active lately so I kind of rush through the articles abd comments. Hell, had I not gone to IGN I probably would’ve missed the Mafia 3 trailer.
I wish they’d add more funding options though… it’s either $1 or $20+, they need more options inbetween 1-20
Then comment on their kickstarter, commenting here won’t help.
Here’s how this will work, they’ll get their funding, decide they can reach a much broader audience with the PS4 and Xbox One, release the game there first alongside PC with a “Oh yeah, we’re still working on that Wii U… you know, challenges of the platform and all…” statement, a year will go by with no Wii U release, then they’ll say, “Yeah… about that… developing for the Wii U was harder than we thought it would be so we’re not going to be releasing the game on it, but we’re very hopeful about NX and anxiously await an announcement on it from Nintendo.”
I get your joke but that won’t happen, maybe the others will be added but U can definitely handle a 3d platformer like this it ain’t project cars or even close graphically.
No thank you, im not supporting your attempt to get the game on the Wii U. get your game on the eShop and then I’ll support you.
Eh, the character looks boring and I’ll forget him by tonight. Gonna pass on this, where the hell is hat in time at……
I don’t like the character’s look either.
Yeah, it’s a shame too. Love the genre, and it sucks its dying out.
I probably will too, but if I see this on the eShop it’ll come right back to me.
Haha, yeah I seen your comment above. I hope the main character goes through some changes, or I’m not even gonna consider it.
Maybe if they’d come up with something creative instead of trying to feed off of everyone’s nostalgia with these “inspired” games I’d be interested.
after project cars im done with kickstarter
I don’t know if I’ll fund it, but I will definitely keep an eye on this one.
“Did you ever want to play as Ness in a Super Mario 64-esque game? Well now is your chance with Poi!” Please tell me I’m not the only one thinking this. >.< It looks like fun, though. I'll take it… if it ever hits the Wii U that is. To those complaining about how generic the character looks, I guess you don't like Ness much either since he doesn't exactly stick out either.
I don’t have a problem with the character design, but I also think Ness is a little different. He was deliberately intended to look like an everykid (in fact, when you’re playing Earthbound, it’s entirely up to you whether or not you even want to name him that), and he was designed in the era of the NES when you were pretty limited with what you could do anyway.
No. Me no Fucking like.
This game looks almost identical to A Hat in Time just based on the artwork and special effects and the type of game it is.
Not saying it is a bad thing, but it is very noticeable. I wish AHiT came to Wii U :(
Skyward Sword meets Mario Galaxy meets Banjo Kazooie xD
I’m glad to see things like this. These two are very passionate about their game and they seem to have put a lot of work into it before showing it and asking for help. The games has several vibes from other games so I may feel like it’s a 3D Elliot’s Quest for me. That being said, I’ll definitely keep an eye on this one.
Plus, the two fellas clearly love Nintendo. It feels great to see developers putting the time and effort to bring gorgeous ideas to the Wii U.
