Nintendo: “Never Say Never” When It Comes To Giving Yooka-Laylee Additional Support

One of the biggest indie titles hitting the Wii U eShop in the future is Playtonic’s gorgeous 3D platformer Yooka-Laylee. The game seems like the perfect title for Nintendo to help promote as it fits in with Nintendo’s family friendly image. The Executive VP of Sales at Nintendo of America, Scott Moffitt, was asked whether the company would give the game additional support by The Examiner and Moffitt basically said never say never.

We’ve really been embracing the independent development community and there is a lot of really great indie content coming to our platform, more so than [before] on Wii or predecessor systems. Our eShop is stocked with great indie games, so we try to rotate them through and promote them from time to time with developer support.

We’ve show a much more open stance to indie developers, so never say never.

    1. Nintendo Lieutenant Cereza

PPffft XD Never say never Tetrarch. It’s a more fun way to say: We have no public statement about that at this time.

      1. Nintendo Tetrarch Quadramus-NX

        >>>Yes of course, They have our precious weapon in development as we speak>>>

        >>>By the way, enjoy the lulz>>>

Stranga is the Nintendo-Dog that we forgot to let inside before we all went to sleep. Now he’s mad at us forever, but he’s too afraid to leave because he was raised here.

        2. Commander you forgot to name straga as sasori #2.
Also, nintendo lieutenant is a “man”, confirmed by the guys on encyclopedia dramatica.

            1. Eeewww. What i did read on his special spot in n sasori’s prototype article is:
Nintendo lieutenant cereza (powerword: A***** R****) is a delusional fuck who dislikes anomymous and thinks you should waste your precious time creating a gravatar account before you comment on MNN.
They added other detail, a guy here make him confess his dislike for anons. It’s a shame EstocZero failed on his attempt to make the article. It was just an attack one, something ediots do not allow.
At least he made an article about someone else….

      1. Nintendo Tetrarch Quadramus-NX

        >>>Indeed, I don’t care what it is, as long as it’s a fully developed Retro game>>>

      1. Well, we’ve only seen 4-5 mins of game-play, i’ll just wait till they show more. Who knows maybe it will be fun

        1. It looks like some tact-on childish crap I’ve seen on mobile phones and fucking space soccer? No. We asked for a sequel of Fusion, successor of Prime or Prime 4 by Retro Studios, not this fucking last minute trash that they slapped on Metroid Prime name to sell this crap to desperate and wannabe Metroid fans.

                1. So scared of harmless gay people that it drives you insane because they’re the most peaceful and happiest types of people around not having to worry about fuckheads like you who waste time sitting on your rusty ass chair in mama’s trailer home with racism shoved into your diminished organ inside your thick skull and so far up your ass that only hillbilly sluts with STDs would wanna talk to you.

        2. Federation Marines wearing an Arm Cannon. I thought The Chozo gave Samus hers. Only one Metroid, and federation force is not it.

          F=ma.

            >>>And once again, I’ve never defended that abomination, I’m a bigger Metroid fan than you, your rage and hate blinds you so much that you assume things that never were there in the first place>>>

            >>>In other words, you can’t stand anyone that even remotely likes something from Nintendo because you are so butthurt mainly from 2 things, some of their ignorance and then we have your illusions about what you think they should do>>>

I think they would have done it sooner if they could find some craaazy non-computer printer way to print out the pictures.

      1. Wireless printers are pretty common now. Also, we could easily post the pictures on Miiverse and print them out on PC. It’s not that hard, its just Nintendo being Nintendo.

  1. Just a Star Fox fan.

Good to hear, to be honest this is the kinda game Nintendo definately should embrace being on their system, its platformer, its colourful and devs have history with Nintendo so theres high chance that Nintendo version could potentially outsell versions on competing systems.

But then again this is Nintendo we talk about, company that has no real faith in StarFox, F-Zero and Metroid, instead developing these games in house they outsource them to 3rd parties, which isnt a bad thing necessary but both Star Fox and Metroid definately suffered from bad quality work from Namco and Team Ninja. Atleast Sega did great job with F-Zero and im sure Platinum will do justice to StarFox aswell.

Also it still to this day screams stupidity from Nintendo´s part that they never bought Rare, say what you want with stupid excuses of talent leaving but Rare had great amount of IP´s that were considered Nintendo classics, letting those IP´s go considering also that they were successful commercially aswell was just madness. Theres no other way around it, cheaping out to not buy Rare is probably one of the biggest mistakes Nintendo ever did. And to those who are gonna say “Retro is new Rare” LOL Hell no, Rare had lots of more creativity and originality, to this day Retro still hasnt made any new IP`s.

    1. Get ready. If Space Pirate Initiative sees this, I expect him to attack your comment with fanboy logic of why Nintendo letting Rare go wasn’t a mistake. I could be wrong, though. I guess I’ll find out when he responds to my comments towards him about Rare & why Nintendo should have bought the company when they had the chance. Or when he responds to this comment of yours. Whichever comes first.

          1. Oh really? Then why are you telling people to quit complaining about Federation Force? If that’s not what you call defending, I’d hate to see what you do call defending.

            1. *waits for the inevitable damage control comment from emimen123! about how he’s not defending Nintendo by telling people to stop “whining” about what Nintendo is doing wrong*

            2. 1. That’s not defending that’s just telling people to shut up lol there are many other things to talk about instead of the same thing over and over when we all know how yall bitches feel about the game we get it
              2. Defending is thinking a company can do no wrong whatsoever myself and several others on this website have talked about the many nintendo fuck ups throughout the years and the fuck ups Nintendo continue to do
              3. The game is coming out anyway and what about the veteran metroid fans and the newcomers to the series you dumb shits would want to take the only metroid game available for the next few years away from them only because you don’t like it the fuck outta here
              4. All because you and others don’t like the game it is obviously not the end of the series and I would bet everyone who was bitching about federation force will be kissing nintendo as once the new 3d metroid game comes out
              5. Like I said before the producer said the games was going to come out eventually and this was the chance to do it and Nintendo is a business bot your best friend they have come out with a lot of games people didn’t want but it grew on them over time
              6. Just like how recently someone who works at nintendo said we listen but it has nothing or very little to do with our business decisions and I’m sure nintendos track record of doing what the fans want is extremely low

  2. Meh, that basically could mean nothing at all. I miss the good old days when someone gave an actual answer instead of beating around a garden of bushes.

Also,.we got some Bromances goin on in this thread, very creepy yah.

    1. according to Playtonic, i think they( not sure if they said it) that they want to add extras to the wii u version( might be the amiibo thing)

    1. *double-posts because he fucked up accidentally posted it to the article’s content instead of this comment*

Yes. Supporting Devil’s Third. Just like they supported Bayonetta 2. *sarcasm* More like paying to help release it & give it some commercials for a few weeks but quickly abandon it, forcing it to fend for itself.

  3. Yes. Supporting Devil’s Third. Just like they supported Bayonetta 2. *sarcasm* More like paying to help release it & give it some commercials for a few weeks but quickly abandon it, forcing it to fend for itself.

  4. As another said, this article feels more like Nintendo showing support for indie games in general, not specifically Yooka-Laylee.

  5. Nintendo of America needs one or two more executives with Guile like Reggie. Too many yes men.

    F=ma.
