There’s a video circulating the internet which shows a hacker playing as all the downloadable content characters in Super Smash Bros Wii U without purchasing them. The actual DLC characters weren’t included on the disc but were made available via a patch, which is presumably how he has managed to unlock them.

I dunno about that- I’m a big Skullgirls player and every time I see the game’s price go down on Steam, all the older DLC fighters usually follow suit (not sure about Eliza, Beowolf or Robo Fortune since they’re all still pretty new).

The DLC bundles are fucking horrible. Why get a DLC bundle if there is no savings involved? It’s like they ignored everything they did right with DLC bundles for Hyrule Warriors, Mario Kart 8, AND Streetpass Mii Plaza; or they shat all over that one. If it was Sakurai’s idea to not give us a deal with the DLC bundles, that’s another strike for that man.

I agree, Smash has been mess from the start, it was rushed to maximize its sales at the time of christmas when it was released last year.
MK8 did it right, it had great core game ready when it was released and then they gave great expansions that was worth to pay something.
I hate to say it but Smash WiiU made me lose fate on that series, its just a DLC milk cow and still get updates for missing features, not gonna buy Smash games at launch, maybe never again after how shitty Nintendo handled that game.

I have to say that any hack which allows you to get free DLC is welcome in my book. For me it’s just a shame the DLC is not a Square-enix or a Capcom one. Even if I don’t agree with Nintendo on the DLC thing, 1) there is a huge demand for DLCs, so I don’t see why Nintendo should not do it. 2) So far Nintendo has done very well with DLCs (except the added courses in MK8) and 3) for smash bro the DLC are well thought and released at a sensible time.
WHAT?! The added courses in Mario Kart 8 were AMAZING!! Buying the DLC doubled the amount of courses, and gave you 6 new racers and 8 new carts for about 12 bucks! What’s wrong with that?!
I’m not the hugest racing game fan, but I still agree with you on how well they did the Mario Kart 8 DLC. I played the first pack more than the second one (mainly because I played it so much that I got burned out on the game). Even with that, I absolutely love to listen to the level music despite not playing it as much, since I can listen to it whenever I want.
well for me those courses should have been included in the game simple as. Don’t tell me they did not plan those courses, they were not available when they release the game. It was even publish here that nintendo already planned for those courses. For me it was a case where a company gave me half a game.

Again we will not agree on the content of the DLC. But MK8 was half a game for me. 2 courses which should not be in the wii U version and 1 overused is lazy and feel like half a game even if this represent 10%. It was a miracle they did not put peach beach on the wii U version.
In general I don’t have any issue with mario kart series, (well don’t like double dash as well but that another story) but with that one the fact those DLC has 9 news tracks which again were ready (or at least at the final testing stage) before the game was release, does not go too well.
I prefer to be seen as cheap or savy customer than a cheep who get conned from left and right. Lot of people criticise Sony and MS doing the same, I don’t see why nintendo should not (even if I am a minority)

He did nothing illegal/wrong – It’s a failt on Nintendo part. FYI, whwn you ‘download’ the DLC, it’s already on your system because it was included in an update (So you could play with players who have it). Purchasing it simply ‘unlocks’ it’s use.

It is a homebrew program for the Wii U called Cafiine, it allows you to replace ram values similar USB gecko on the original wii. This can be done I think with any game…

No one is forcing you to buy anything. If you thought the game was incomplete then why did you buy it? If you don’t think the dlc is worth the price don’t buy it. I personally believe the price is fair.
Hey, I put hundreds of hours into hacking, modding, cracking, ect. Don’t I deserve compensation? It’s thanks to us “dirty” hackers that you have information on a game’s hidden content that even gaming news sites, like this one, brodcasts. Hacking isn’t as easy as you’d assume. Thanks to hackers you can play translated roms, with little to no glitches, of games Nintendo will never release outside of Japan. And all for free. Modded games like Metriod Fusion were made possible thanks to hackers.
Feel free to add other reasons why Nintendo are saints and hackers are “evil”, greedy scumbags-like disabling region lock or enabling your Wii to play DVDs.

Why all the dislikes with Nintendo? As far as I know, I remember paying Darth Vadar on Soul Calibur 4 for $10.00. Was it worth it? No. Buying new characters for $5.00 seems fair enough. I dislike Playstation but I don’t whine about it. At least Nintendo is going in the right direction. So stop complaining.
