You may remember Sonic Classic Collection for the Nintendo DS? Well, it turns out that the original game was going to be a much more impressive collection, but unfortunately content was cut. The recently discovered portfolio of SEGA Studios Australia employee Brooke Luder shows that the Sonic Classic Collection was going to have Sonic Spinball, Sonic 3D Blast (Sonic 3D Flickies’ Island) and Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine, as well as unspecified video content. One other thing that was discovered on Luder’s portfolio was that SEGA Australia made a pitch for Crazy Taxi 4 which obviously never made it to market.
Thanks, MasterPikachu6
Sonic Spinball is my shit. That’s too bad…
gotta go fast
Over the cliff which is ultimately Sonic/Sega’s fate.
Great continuation of the “gotta go fast” line. lol It suits Sega so well.
Crazy Taxi… 4?
There’s more than ONE Crazy Taxi game?
Dude! Crazy Taxi 3 : High Roller is so awesome!
Me too. I never heard of Crazy Taxi 2 or 3 at all. XD
I want a new Crazy Taxi!!!
Played a lot of Mean Bean Machine on the GameCube collection. I always seem to end up re-buying the original Sonic games.
Thankfully it was cut, more Sonic is NEVER a good thing.
don’t be so dank, eat a muffin
But these are the Classic Sonic games. Not like modern Sonic… These are the real deal!
Except most of those classics kick the shit out of the newer games in every way.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I Loved CrAAaaazy Taxi!! (on my GameCube!!
Also, Sony is launching a PS4 Starwars edition…it’s Empire/Darth Vader themed and comes with a slew of Starwars games..
Folks…I think the time is approaching to go to the dark-side…
Yup. Very nice looking.
Oh I just saw that on Facebook. Maybe I should put off getting a new Wii U for that Star Wars themed PS4. @.@
It doesn’t look that great imo. It looks more like a sticker on a ps4 case.
In my honest opinion.
Wait to get a Wii U till its cheaper. $300 is way too much for the small library it has, maybe $200. Some will tell you its worth it, but I HONESTLY don’t think it is. Unless you don’t own a PS4/PS3, or XBO/360, I don’t see you picking up many titles on the Wii U since most 3rd party games perform better on the other twins. The support is abysmal and its only getting worse. It’s only my thoughts though, and I would suggest going XBO (because Fuck SONY that’s why) but if you’re more into JRPG’s, and more obscure titles from Japan then the PS4 might be you’re jam.
Oh I know since I’ve had a Wii U since launch. I’ve already got all of the games I care for on the Wii U right now & just waiting for Devil’s Third, Fatal Frame 5, Xenoblade Chronicles X, & Zelda U, if it’s still even coming, left to get. Luckily, Nintendo’s online US store still carries refurbished Wii Us so I thankfully don’t have to pay 300 bucks for one again; whoop, whoop. But yeah. I’m going for a PS4 because I don’t care for Microsoft consoles as I prefer Microsoft to stay where they really belong: PCs & PC gaming.
Yup. But MS won’t listen. They’re more focused on the Xbox One. Anything the PC gets from them is just leftover scraps. :(
So this is about Sonic games that most didn’t care about anyway, eh? *shrug* No loss then. Of course, it does suck for the few that would have liked Pinball or Sonic 3D Blast Ball.
Lol 3D Blast is awful.
3D Blast was…different. I didn’t hate it. When it first came out it was pretty cool, just another take on the formula.
I enjoyed it but the whole “collect 5 flickies” really held it back. I think it would’ve been way better without this along with having the levels designed in a more traditional “point A to point B” sense.
I didn’t use to always hate it. I actually played it a lot when I was little. But when I went back and played it, I didn’t like it. Collecting flickies started to get boring.
I think the reason was because they where running so bad on ds. I had the game and it had a lot of slowdown.
These are already available for Mega Collection.
So if you own that it’s not a huge loss.
Still a shame though for others that don’t.
Sega needs new devs.
Mean Bean Machine was my jam. Inexcusable.
I am ashamed to say I didn’t know Knuckles in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was a thing and I have played a redonkulous amount of time playing the original. Is it “Collection” bonus or was an actual expansion for the original game on the SEGA Megadrive?
According to Sonicretro it was just an expansion replacing Sonic and Tails with Knuckles in Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
Hmm, I knew there was an expansion cartridge (on the original console) for Sonic 3 that allowed Knuckles gameplay but I didn’t know there was one for Sonic 2.
Was it a separate cartridge for Sonic 2 or could you use the same expansion cartridge for Sonic 3 but for Sonic 2 ( I never tried despite having having Sonic 2/3 and the expansion)? Or was it a modern day thing only in the “Classic Collection” where they did like a bonus game thing?
This has got my head spinning, so much misinformation or missing info, a gap of knowledge if you will that has me struggling to process this, being a HUGE Sonic 2 fan (It being the first game I remember playing, EVER), not knowing this has me dased and confused.
Okay, just went on the Sonic Wiki and found this small bit of info that I SHOULD have known but didn’t/ My mind truly has been blown today for something so simple.
..
“Knuckles the Echidna in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (or simply Knuckles in Sonic 2) is a platform video game which is the result of locking-on Sonic & Knuckles with Sonic the Hedgehog 2 using the former catridge’s unique “lock-on” technology. As the name suggests, this game is essentially identical to Sonic the Hedgehog 2 with the exception of Knuckles the Echidna starring as the main playable character, and Sonic the Hedgehog and Miles “Tails” Prower are not playable in the game.”
And if you put sonic 1 you unluck there the ring mini games from sonic 3
Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine was a bitch to play
