Nintendo And Hasbro Join Forces To Let TRANSFORMERS Fans Take Sides In Splatoon

Are you team AUTOBOT or team DECEPTICON? Nintendo and Hasbro are joining forces to help you defend your robot allegiances in the Splatoon game for the Wii U console.

Splatoon features themed events called Splatfests that let players pick a preference, such as AUTOBOTS or DECEPTICONS, and then compete against the opposing side in online battles. A Splatfest celebration lasts for 24 hours, during which players head into battle and try to rack up Turf War wins for their side. While the Splatfest is ongoing, in-game characters get to wear a special T-shirt that shows which TRANSFORMERS team has their allegiance. The ink that each team shoots will also be customized to match the color scheme of the chosen side.

Once a Splatfest ends, the side with the most points will be awarded the most Super Sea Snails, items that will allow them to upgrade their gear in the game. The TRANSFORMERS-themed Splatfest event is scheduled to run starting at 9 p.m. PT on Aug. 28 through 9 p.m. PT on Aug. 29 and is open to all Wii U owners who have Splatoon and an Internet connection.

Splatoon, which is exclusive to Wii U, represents Nintendo’s take on the action-shooter genre. Characters called Inklings can transform into squids as they attempt to cover the play area with their team’s colorful ink and splat opponents. Using an array of inventive weapons, players cover the playing surface with as much of their team’s colorful ink as possible before time runs out. On Aug. 5, a free software update in Splatoon brought a large amount of new content to the game, including two new matchmaking modes, new weapon types, an increase to the game’s level cap and more than 40 pieces of new gear.

        1. i have played splatoon but i do not allies play it that much but i do hear a lot of people have streamed it on twitch witch makes me so mad because smash bros is the game.

      1. Now this is a cool Splatfest theme. It’s great to see Nintendo partner up with a great legendary toy making company like Hasbro to get Splatoon even more publicity than it already has. Oh and I’m going with the team that will most likely get the most popularity votes and that’s Team Autobots 😉

        1. And yet, no new Transformers game for them in sight so WTF kind of “partnership” is this? They’re basically trying so damn hard to ride on this Splatoon hype for as long as they can because 1 million games worldwide in a month is just pathetic for a hyped Wii U exclusive/new IP.

          1. Hasbro has no say on what platform their games go on. Once they signed over their license to whomever they pick to develop their games, that particular company chooses what platform they want to develop for. Now if Hasbro had a clause in their contract for Transformers to be on a Nintendo platform no matter what then I could see your point and besides Tantalus has still yet to announce the title that they’re porting to the Wii U from the PS4 & Xbox One so that Transformers game could be it

          2. Splatoon didn’t make this deal with Hasbro in an attempted to gain another exclusive title. It was to reward their players with options that actually care about, and not just which food you prefer. Besides, there isn’t any say that the new Transformers from Platinum Games won’t be coming to the WIIU/ NX.

            1. I’m with you on this one. As much as I want to vote for the Decepticons, if I don’t win a lot then I lose in this Splatfest.

I hope this partnership translate to toys too since Jakks Pacific figures don’t get distributed in my country and I’d like to see an Optimus Prime Mario (if they can make Hello Kitty why not Mario?).

As much as I think Transformers Devastation would play nicely on the Wii U, the game was not that appealing to me. I pref’er the War for Cybertron games (PC) and the Wii’s Cybertron Adventures.

          3. I never ever since the announcement of this game have gave a single crap about it, looks stupid and childish. Those character designs are probably the most annoying part about this game, they look terrible. Really dont understand why this game has gotten so popular, but then again WiiU really has not much to offer anyways and Nintendo never promoted the good exclusives like W101 or Bayonetta2 so no wonder. Splatoon, more like Shitloon.

Now would be a good time to showcase more of that Zelda WiiU, probably the only title coming to WiiU which is worth a damn, StarFoxZero looks like good attempt but its too early to tell will it live up to LylatWars.

Thank goodness Nintendo has 3DS, that system rocks, theres countless Zelda games avalaible to it and still one that is upcoming. Good 1st and 3rd party support etc. No wonder that system is thriving. If only 3DS was their homeconsole, that is probably its only flaw if we dont count the weeaboo favored titles like FireEmblem waifu editions and LameoBlade.

          4. I don’t even care about Transformers and this is still awesome.

Is this the Splatfest for America, Europe, or both? If this is for America, they better have something kickass ready for Europe, after that North Pole vs South Pole crap.

          5. does this mean Michael Bay is directing the Splatoon movie? YES

Team Deception because Star Scream. Losers gotta stick together.
