Investigation Continues Into The Boston Pokemon World Championships Shooting Plot

A serious scare at the Boston Pokemon World Championships was thankfully avoided last weekend after police apprehended the culprits hours before the event. According to recent reports, the two men – who allegedly plotted to shoot other competitors – were both experienced players of the franchise and had been invited to attend the tournament. Kevin Norton aged 18 and James Stumbo aged 27, both of whom are from Iowa, made threatening statements in a closed online Pokemon forum and on other social media sites before driving to Boston for the competition.

Prosecutors said the suspects posted photos of a high-powered rifle and shotgun in the trunk of a car stating they were “ready for worlds Boston here we come!!!” And in another instance, one suspect wrote: “I will just shoot him on Friday thanks”, after he was banned from a chatroom. Police were able to uncover the firearms, a hunting knife and hundreds of rounds of ammunition from the vehicle. Neither of the men had a gun license. The suspects are not currently facing charges for the threats they allegedly made online, but a court hearing is scheduled for September 1. Police said the investigation is continuing.

        1. There are illegal gun stores on the deep web. If you have the money you can get the thing delivered to your door easily.

              1. If they had guns unregistered to them I can only conclude that they didn’t rule out escape from their plan. Maybe they hoped to run out as part of the panicked crowd or something. I mean if the idea was to shoot as many people and then get killed or kill themselves why would they have guns that aren’t registered to them.

          1. Easier to buy it on the street, but I was just asking because I’m confused as to what is meant by a gun license.

            1. Uhh hello! it is so eesey two bye a gun in Helen GA, mii hometown. they even sel guns at concestion stands at the anuel St. Fattys events in Helen GA. May bee it is sumting with the south butt wii r proud of hour guns because wii r smert and kno the propar way too use them… yah yah their was that 1 time i acidentaly shot mii Uncle Bobby in his foot butt he was also touching Mii inaproprietly and i kinda loved it! Uhh i think every1 shud bee armed with a gun exsept the mexicans.

            2. You have to have a gun licence to legally buy a gun, just like how you need a drivers license to drive. If that makes any sense.

        2. heroponluigi, THIS is why it is stupid to ban guns in the U.S. People will just find them anyway. It isn’t that hard. All “banning guns” would do is prevent honest and civil civilians from using them.

          1. and you are right …people will still have guns..look at mexico…it is illegal to have a gun in general by law..but yet almost every person cartel or not has a gun…so yea banning guns wont do anything

          2. And possibly add to the death toll of these sorts of attacks. Sometimes, the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.

U.S. Gun culture? You mean unstable suburb WHITE kids…
Country white folk don’t condone or partake in these disturbing acts…
Don’t blame the U.S. Gun laws…blame those white middle class rejects…why don’t they turn the guns on themselves before they shoot up public joints…you know, like JewWario…dude did the world a favour.

Guns are to keep the queen of England from barging into your spot and shoving you around…or any government official…

Can’t believe people forget and or were never informed about Hitler and what he did once civilians were unarmed. Oh wait, I forgot, the U.S. Is going faggot…

For the record, war is the answer to all…that’s why guns are needed…when governments declare war on its people…you sissies will be first to get slaughtered…

Pokemon gen 1-2 the best. the rest…SUCK!

        1. US guns laws are weak and don’t protect the people. Let’s put it this way restrictions on cars, switch blades etc are all stricter than guns laws in the US, and it seems like bought into the bullshit that guns make you safer. Guess what they don’t, I grew up in an inner-city neighborhood with some of the highest crime in the US. I know from experience guns don’t make you safer.

It seems you are buying in to a fallacy.

          1. I would feel a lot safer with a gun in my hand than without one. If someone breaks into your house and they have a gun, or if someone pulls out a gun on you, what are you going to do? Lecture them to death?

            1. I understand what you mean but the way I see it, guns are nothing but trouble. Its not like you need 7 machine guns for “protection” against intruders.

              1. There are other ways to protect yourself. If you have nothing to steel or look like it you have less to worry about.

              2. That’s exactly the issue. There’s a difference between owning one normal hand gun and a fucking “war” rifle. I don’t get why young men think it’s “cool” to own one. But these mother fuckers had 7 or who knows what else they had at home. I’m not sure but yeah, it’s not for protection.

                1. And even if you bought said guns for protection, you must be one paranoid son of a bitch. Or you are doing something you shouldn’t be doing.

            2. Beat the f-ing shit out of them …like my friemd growing up did. Guns just give you a false sense of security. But your welcome to own one legally. Won’t make things safer.

              1. If someone has a gun you are not going to beat the shit out of them unless they never meant to pull the trigger. You are not faster than a bullet

            3. Growing up in East Los Angeles, when I was 7 my neighbor shot and killed a gangster that tried to rob her house while she slept. A week later they shot up her house killing one of her kids. And injuring the other.

There’s been times when I’ve had gangsters come up to me and pull guns at me, put them on chest and temple. Had I had a gun, I probably would’ve shot first but whose to say that I would’ve survive any of those altercations. I didn’t though, but I never ran or showed any fear. I’m still alive (obviously) but not having a gun has obviously worked to my advantage so far.

And it’s not like its hard to get a dirty, hell, even a clean unregistered gun is easy to get (when you know the right people.) But sometimes you’re safer not having one. At least in my personal experience. I’ve lost friends and yes, they all had guns at the time they got shot.

                1. also sorry you had to go through that, that is some serious stuff. You pretty much listed the reason I won’t carry. Could have been in a much worse place and where I live now, couldn’t imagine having it a gun around.

                1. I used to live close to there, South Central L.A. The family thing happened in East L.A. on Gage street. I’ve also lived in Pasadena, Orange county. But the I was living in Boyle Heights and in Korea Town when I got into those altercations. I’ve also had those altercations in Hollywood.

Are you from Los Angeles by any chance?

                  1. I really wish the best for you man.

Nope. I live in Boston where shootings are common. I was there when the bombs exploded, two people got shot at my street in two different occasions. I was at a scene at another shooting, a 7 year old kid got shot, my school was at lockdown due to a student having a possession of a gun. Not to mention before I moved to Boston (Indianapolis) I was 7 when my close friend got shot. Fortunately, I was never directly targeted but it goes to show how guns are all around us.

                    1. Oh I’ve moved since. This all happened while I was young. I’m 26 now and I live in the suburbs of Chicago. It’s not all great but the violence is definitely not like it was back in L.A. (Chicago city is another story though, I’m a good 2 hours away so I’m good)

Yeah sadly they are. It desensitizes you as well which can’t be healthy. I’ve seen a lot of thing but the worst one has to be when I was waiting for the bus. On the opposite side of the street on the other bus stop a few gangbangers were throwing up gangsigns to all the cars. A few minutes after a couple grape street crips parked in the middle of the street and with an automatic rifles let lose. Bullets just ripped through all of them and every bystander waiting for the bus. First time I was genuinely scared for my life. The guys just in there car and drove off like nothing happened.

Best of luck in Boston though, I hear it’s gotten pretty crazy I’m some areas.

            4. Also, there were local German residence who were armed during that time and most of the ones that knew enough to leave did. They way they talk (people from that time and that country) actually remind me of how people talk about Fox news and the republicans. They both use fear tactics and hate to take over the government.

Man, I miss the republicans from the 90s.

        2. That’s the thing, these people Aren’t in their right minds, this should be more about getting people who are insane off the streets, instead of the incoming “Ban Guns because they’re evil” Bullshit

        3. Some people’s minds can’t handle games like Grand Theft Auto etc. Which they probably played a lot of (my guess). I recently started playing GTAV (my first in the series), and I seriously can’t believe games like this is allowed to exist. No wonder there’s so much violence in the world.

          1. Yes, but its obvious that your brain knows the difference between the video game world and the world outside your window. The biggest problem with this situation I find.

          1. Hmm… Would you look at that… Another shooting happened earlier today on live TV….

Is it bad I’m not surprised?

              1. Yep. There’s already been many other incidents (including this one) where there were shootings; like where a 7 year old kid who got shot while riding his bike. Oh what a cruel world we live in.

                  >>>And the recent days where a 2 year old shot his dad with his own gun and a few days later another 2 year old shot himself, yes, what a wonderful world Americans humans live in>>>

                  >>>They shoot more family members and innocents than criminals by far, it’s amusing>>>

                  1. Its not amusing, its disturbing. This is what’s wrong with America, people take advantage and abuse their privileges.

                      >>>That’s what’s amusing, their stupidity knows no boundaries and yet they complain about the very thing they are doing>>>

Let’s just say I had to put a lot of people out of their misery. This world isn’t meant for disgusting bottom feeders.

                                  >>>Not intentionally since these puny minds get offended when I enjoy myself over their misery>>>

                    2. Actually no. America is now in a hellish nightmare with crazies running and gunning with old senile assclowns lying to the public of false stories and promises to slip into the WH to get off on getting rush by screwing others and the public are growing even more stupider by the day. There is nothing else that surprises me at this point. America has become such a fucking disgrace that I just wanna leave and watch the nation destroy itself.

              2. How do they not have pending charges against them for the threats?!! I hope they have been charged for unlicensed carry of assault weapons and then some.

More than being charged, I hope they get locked up for life (which won’t happen). These two were about to kill dozens if not hundreds of kids/teens/adults.

                Hang ’em high.

                  1. Sorry, I see they are both adults, will probably get 1 year jail max and probation. That is of course they only charge them on the weapon possession.

              3. Now how the fuck they got their hands on guns is the bigger question and who’s to blame for that irresponsibility? NRA and whatever dumb fuck parents or guardians owning those weapons.

                        1. Yes sir! CAPTAIN CATTLE CALF COMMANDER SIR!

So how’s that sister of yours you was trying to hook me up with?

Make any good jokes about the recent Boston shooting plot? More robotic comedy please! : ).

                            1. Yet you keep coming back for more of me? Oh COMMANDER you sly dirty robotic dog you. No homo bro, sorry ♥.

                1. They’re adults man. They can get their own. However, the article makes it seem like they acquired them illegally.

              4. I WIN,,, LIKE I SAID IN THE OTHER ARTICLE, LETS HOPE THEY SEARCH THE BLACKS AT THE POKIMON EVENTS

WE DONT WANT A SHOOTING LIKE THOSE TV REPORTERS

                I REST MY CASE

              5. Apparently they were “joking” but I don’t care, they didn’t have a licence. Normal people don’t buy weapons like that, even in the US. It’s not normal. Too fucking suspicious. I hope they go to prison. Fuck them, fuck them for making a bad name of all gamers and Pokémon fans.

                  1. Well they did “joke” about it. Because they were immature brats. Even if one of them were supposed to be “27”.

              6. IL SHOOT A FUCKING PIKACHOO

so it was a prank no one went to the event it was a joke in a forum

WTF NEW WORLD ORDER AT ITS FINEST

              7. Wait so neither had a gun license and they both had high powered guns, and charges have NOT already been brought against them? America? Oh American kids, never mind.

              8. This story is so weird. If they were really serious about shooting up the place, why would they advertise their upcoming attack KNOWINGLY to the world?

To me, it sounds like they were planning a stupid dark-humored joke that went terribly wrong. They posted this stuff to a Pokemon chat forum online…

I want to know if they were actually serious or not about the attack. I doubt this event would have been preventable if the two guys didn’t let the Boston PD know ahead of time.

                1. I’m glad we never got to find out if they were joking or serious because one of those outcomes would have resulted in many lost lives.

              9. People saying it was a joke should stop spreading the bullshit butter. Yes because joking about a possible mass killing of children and man children is hilarious.

                I need 50 cc’s of Sarcasm Stat!

              10. wow i never seen that coming cops should have scan people pockets and backpacks just to make sure they have a gun and a knife and a shot gun just to make sure this does not happen again those wanna kill those competitors for no reason you know buying a gun in a public store with out a license is illegal and some people can buy guns online with out a license is wrong you know theres a were house in new york and boston and california that had shot guns and a pistols in the boxes and some criminals can get them and start to take action on the ceremony but this situation of This story is so weird. If they were really serious about shooting up the place, why would they advertise their upcoming attack KNOWINGLY to the world? i want to know why if they have not get people in the pokemon ceremony to know about there plans in the first place sense the attack started.

              11. People who live by social media want their exploits known in social media, including stupid criminals.

Some Pokemon Fanboys are narrow minded and difficult to deal with. And some people can be led to extremes from frustration, which trolls on the other hand don’t realize that it can become deadly.
