Japan: Nintendo 3DS Sells 34K And Wii U Sells 10K

This week’s Japanese sales charts are now in from Japan thanks to Media Create. As many had expected it is Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain that has taken the number one position on the PlayStation 4. The game has also given the console a good sales boost this week as it outsold the Nintendo 3DS. With regards to Nintendo titles Splatoon seems to be holding well in the top ten. 1. Highest selling game on chart by a long margin is Animal Crossing New Leaf at over 4 million SOLD! Take that PS4/XBONE! :D

              1. “I still have a dream, a dream deeply rooted in the American dream – one day this nation will rise up and live up to its creed, “We hold these truths to be self evident: that all men are created equal… Except for Sasori. You can make fun of him all you want.”

  1. Dem PS4 sales, though…
If MGS was my kind of game (it is good, but not for me), I would just buy it on PS3. I see no reason to buy a PS4 for a game that is on the last generation. (Because I guess every MGS fan had a PS3 by the time MGS4 released)

    1. Damn and they’re still riding the last gen for what reason again? WTF is the point to buy next gen consoles if the old gen is still getting the same new games? XD It’s why I decided to not go for PS4 and PS3 online is free and should stay that way because it sucks with lag, crashes and constant log outs. Why charge $50 if they’re not improving that shit?

      1. Well, I suppose staying with a PS3 could give you the chance to catch up on exclusives that you missed.

          1. Lol. Frame rate hurts your eyes. I hate when that happens.

          1. The only redeeming value in RE5 is Coop. So if you have someone to play with, def check it out. (double check I have that right)

Otherwise, it was the death of survival Horror, not to mention my favorite video game villains. RIP Wesker. #WeskerLives!

            1. The ONLY way they could bring him back and redeem his tarnished character is that the Wesker from RE5 is a clone and the real Wesker was pulling strings from RE6 attacks.

              1. Well the movies are using clones a lot. Might as well bring that shit to the games since it seems to be working. But if they do, I just hope they don’t go overboard like they have with the movies. I love the movies, don’t get me wrong, but the clone stuff has gone on long enough. I want Resident Evil, not Star Wars prequel trilogy!

                  1. At the same time, they don’t have to use a clone as a scapegoat to bring Wesker back. I mean, it wouldn’t be the first time he came back from the dead after he was supposedly killed.

                    1. Because they are badass villains. Badass villains always survive shit that a normal villain can’t survive.

                    2. Actually, it’s because of video game logic. But I guess what you said works too. Lol.

  2. 3DS at 34K even without real advertising. Uh number 5:

[3DS] Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer (Nintendo, 07/30/15) – 30,840 (989,889) Crossing a million next week.

Great week for the PS4 as well. In fact great week for home consoles in Japan. 10K for WiiU, meaning home consoles combined beat out the 3DS family this week. Congratulations to Konami and Sony.

    F=ma.

      1. Their undoing is offering their cloudservices on non playstation products, making Playstation pointless in the long run if ppl catch upon it like on Netflix.

  3. Well deserved, MGSV is Game of the Year hands down. As a story the jury’s still out but as far as gameplay and graphical aesthetic goes there’s nothing to even touch it this year. It should stay high up for months but knowing the Japanese it’ll probably be dethroned by the next interchangeable, committee-designed robot and/or monster collecting game in weeks. You stay fucking classy, Japan.

    1. I haven’t gotten around to it yet but I’m sure it’s really good. Can’t say for sure if it will be my GOTY though because currently, Witcher 3 is my favorite title this year. We shall see though…

  4. Cherish while you all can. Console based gaming is soon in the past

    Nintendo is going mobile

Sony is offering Playstation cloud services on non Playstation products

Microsoft releases their exclusives on Pc/tablets

All the 3 are expanding away from their own products and its not a good sign, more like building a base on other products when their owns wont gather anymore interest and who could blame them? Gaming during the past 5 years has been bottom line utterly terrible, games have no magic, no soul, rushed products, annual releases, day1 patches, locked on content, too much focus on story from wannabe movie directors and shallow gameplay. 6th gen was the last stellar generation for video games, 7th gen had plenty of good moments but it taught the bad habits that are now common day problems on 8th gen systems, oh yeah lets wait games to install before we can play them, clearly that shitty disc tech that Sony so boasted about is showing its weakness when its not fast enough to load games……..

The one i feel most bad is Sega, so much potential, so much fun, only to go waste, if only they would be still here to provide quality arcade pure games with their own system but no movie playback is what its all about…

Nintendo going waste with lame games and not caring about long time fans, the difference with Nintendo and Sega is that when Sega had console with potential they released good games while Nintendo has console with potential but doesnt use and instead releases half assed games and does everything to displease their fans.

Goodbye gaming, im done, it was fun while it lasted but magic is no more.

    The last good gaming systems.

  5. Congratulations to Sony on this week’s PS4 sales. But I do ask this. What’s the point of buying a PS4/Xbox One, when the PS3/Xbox 360 is still being supported by the same games? Is it really worth spending however much the consoles cost, for slightly better graphics and a new Controller?

    1. Because they’re extremely outdated and the graphics are to the point where they’re as low as they can get. And frame rate isn’t good either. Unless you want the exclusives, there’s no reason to get either a PS3 or 360 anymore.

        1. That depends on how many games you’ve played and how long you’ve had it. If you’ve had a PS3 for several years and played many of the biggest releases and exclusives, then yes. Time to upgrade. No point of keeping it now. And games are moving platforms now. You don’t get The Witcher 3, Mad Max, Dying Light, Mortal Kombat X, or Fallout 4 on those old systems.

  6. uhhh sony sells more ps4,
than every console place 2-10 together.
    rip nintendo.
    then nx will flop.
i have 4 buddies who have wii u
and esch of them has a ps4
    9 buddies have only ps4.
these guys who have a wii u, would not buy nintendos nx.
so i guess… the nx nintendo console would sell not even half from wii u.
i dont know why, but i got the feeling, that nx is just wii u power 1.2.
    no blueray, no optical output.
    poor nintendo.

    1. I can’t say anything about the NX. But saying that Nintendo is Doomed? That’s ludicrous. Maybe in terms of Hardware, if the NX does flop, but in terms of being an around as an actual company? Hell no.

  7. The Witcher 3 and MGSV alone makes 2015 one of the best years in gaming history. Then we have a bunch of gems incoming like Mario Maker and BOI: Afterbirth. Not to mention the Vive comes out later this year as well.
