Wayforward has started asking fans if they would vote for Shantae to get her included in Super Smash Bros on the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. In an email to backers Half-Genie Hero Director Matt Bozon has told fans that independent polls have put Shantae near the top with regards to the list of contenders for Super Smash Bros. Bozon admits that having Shantae in Super Smash Bros would give the character a much-needed boost and would secure the success of future Shantae titles. Will you be voting for her to appear in Super Smash Bros on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS?

I wish they had gone with Disqus though, I really like how that system is laid out and how it works between all sites using it. But I am kinda glad I’ll have to scroll through less of the fanboys/girls from other systems. I love my Playstation systems a lot but I definitely don’t bash Nintendo as a result. It gets annoying sifting through such comments. If you don’t like Nintendo then why come here? I definitely don’t see the type of spammy comments on PlayStation Lifestyle as I used to here. I don’t think turning off anonymous comments is the best way to handle the situation. The comments section needs mods to take care of overly offensive comments and spam, disabling anonymous comments isn’t going to solve the problem.
Like this, the site’s just going to lose some of its regular users who simply prefer not to sign up – people who want to spam can still do so if they want to. And the smaller the number of people leaving comments, the more likely it will be for more people to leave. Sharing your thoughts with others and discussing your different views seems to be a rather big part of this blog, after all, and if there’s not enough people to do that with, this place might end up losing its appeal, I’m afraid.
Oh how I miss the old regulars of this site. The comments section was a lot more interesting and fun before.

I think you’re right. I remember seeing that alt color poster about a month after the ballot was announced. I also remember Nicalis asking for votes for Cave Story’s Quote (I voted for him before they asked, CS is awesome) and Yacht Club asking for Shovel Knight votes, and now that he has an amiibo coming, his chances have never been higher.

I think the smash ballot is open to not only characters originally from Japan. Their fanbase isn’t only from Japan you know. (Still hoping for Shovel Knight)

It ends this Saturday, Oct. 3rd. However, we ARE getting an update that includes a Mario Maker stage tomorrow and I know that’s not all that the update will bring. I wouldn’t be surprised if a surprise early winner of the ballot gets added as well.

I do like Shantae. My first was one of the recent titles tho.
I’d say she probably stands a good chance. Personally I’d like to see someone like Tails or Bomberman. Whoever wins in the end I hope it’s someone I’d actually use regularly, I don’t really play as any of the other DLC characters, though I’m glad to have a larger roster. I’m really excited to see the results! I have a feeling the Inklings from Splatoon will make their way into the game.
Bomberman would be a cool addition. I liked all the N64 and Gamecube Bomberman games, and he would fit in GREAT. Plus, imagine Pommy or Max as an assist trophy…
