The Chibi-Robo! franchise could be at risk as Nintendo’s Kensuke Tanabe has conceded that Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash could be the last Chibi-Robo! title if it doesn’t perform to the company’s expectations at retail. Tanabe admits that they racked their brains thinking of how to make the franchise resonate with gamers and they hope that Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash will be the breakout hit for the franchise.
“To be honest, this might be the last chance for us,” says Nintendo producer Kensuke Tanabe. “I’ve continually thought about ways to build this into a mainstream success,” Tanabe says of the franchise. “We’ve challenged ourselves in assorted ways along those lines, but I can’t say that we’ve found the answer yet.”
Well I’m not sure turning the game into a side-scrolling plat-former will help.
Original game’s gameplay or nothing for me.
Good. I don’t want him in Smash.
You know Smash is for forgotten stuff
That literally makes no sense.
Hahahahaha
Damn shots fucking fired. I would understand why though. Wasted resources on fucking making him a amiibo and shit
lol Lets get him in the streets!
I’m actually quite excited about this, been a while since Nintendo released a platformer and this one looks very interesting to me.
okay, so it looks like it’s time to say goodbye.
Bye Chibi-Robo!
Chibi Robo has never been an appealing brand to begin with. There is no sense in trying to save this IP. Clearly it is not wanted.
It is best for Nintendo to drop it and focus on newer and better ideas.
If this is supposed to guilt trip me into buying this game that isn’t even original Chibi-Robo gameplay, you’ve wasted your time, Ninten

This is basically the same thing to the Chibi-Robo franchise as if they would say that federation force would be Metroid’s last chance and to be honest at this point it sadly wouldn’t suprise me if they actually said that.
*would say that
I can sadly see Nintendo actually being assholes & blackmail us with that in order to make that game sell. And my response, being a hardcore Metroid fan since the mid 90s, rest in peace, Metroid. It was fun while it lasted. *smiles & waves*
Agreed. I’m not buying that game no matter what because i don’t want to support them turning a great franchise into shit, rather it die with what dignity it have left than have it forever be remembered as a piece of shit.
Chibi Robo has never sold well I’m still shocked it got sequals ever after the first game sold poorly. Metroid in nintendo’s eyes will not go in the same boat
You never know, though. No one even thought that Fire Emblem was in danger of being canned then we hear that Awakening would have been the last game if it didn’t sell as well as it did.
FE hit a wall after a point Metroid at worst sold 1 million units one game isn’t going kill it off
If metroid had like 5 terrible selling games in a row, Nintendo might grow worry i’m sure, but Metroid is in no danger. I hold judgement on FF not saying a day 1 buy but they need to show me more who knows could be fun, we have only seen Multiplayer, no single player
Time to plan is funeral
This is some next level of blackmailing.
“Give us the money or the kawaii robot dies”
I hope Nintendo tries to pull this bullshit with Federation Force. I will gladly either call their bluff or wave good bye to Metroid. Either way, guilt tripping isn’t going to work for shit on me. I’m not going to buy a game simply to save the franchise as I’d rather see it burn then become something it’s not.
Agreed completely. I can’t say I’m that much of a fan of the original game to begin with (I’m more of a fan of the design and concept, if anything), but it’d be sad to see him go. Still, it’s about principles.
It needs to go honestly. I can’t believe they even made another one to begin with.. It’s a boring franchise, no offence to the creators.
Yes! Let’s bring more people to our franchise by showing them exactly what our franchise ISN’T!
Seriously, with Federation Force and Chibi-Robo, I have to wonder if Nintendo realizes how stupid they’re being! They’re trying to increase the user base of some of their franchises by doing the exact opposite of what they are!
I still think the only problem with those franchises is marketing and availability. I have never seen a single ad for Chibi-Robo, and up until Other M, not a single ad for Metroid as well! Not to mention you mostly couldn’t find those games were I live when they were released, and the install base for the consoles they were first released on was too small (GCN).
Make the damn games people want to actually play and market the hell out of them! That’s how you increase your install base!
“I still think the only problem with those franchises is marketing and availability.”
This, so much.
Typical Nintendo bullshit, though. It’s on them that these games don’t sell well but yet they want to pretend it’s not their doing. This explains Nintendo’s mentality best:
It’s truly sad that Nintendo treats every single one of their consumers like babies that need their hand held these days. It truly is.
Assuming that Sony and Microsoft doesn’t do the same thing to their fanbase?
Cough cough “Jak 4!” Cough cough “Crash bandicoot!” Cough cough “Banjo Threeie!” Cough cough.
lol
3 games? Is that it? Not making a compelling argument there that Nintendo isn’t the only ones guilty of doing this.
Assuming that I know everything about video games while pedophiles are buying child porn on the deep web?
Dude. I don’t have time for your bullshit! Let me go buy games however I like while you try to stop the Nintendo patriarchy?
LMFAO!
Naughty Dog just shited on their fans not to long ago
I know right? Naughty Dog has gone outta their minds. XD
I don’t mine them doing games like uncharted but saying cartoon games are childish is just stupid
It’s like the developers of Gex series went realistic on Tomb Raider.
That’s right, fucking The Last of Us and Uncharted, two fucking pieces of shit with a shit story each and 0 actual good gameplay. I’m planing to hunt down to death every single asshole who claimed TLoU to be whether the “greatest game ever” or “Citizen Kane of videogames”, especially the latter because that’s not even an opinion – it’s just plain fucking stupid.
Hurray Crash and Jak! Long live!
Yeah!
Woah there buddy, take it easy. I actually liked the Last of Us and its story. It wasn’t anything ground breaking, but it ran pretty well and was still pretty fun, imo.

R.I.P. Chibi Robo (2005 – 2015)
Happy anniversary! XD
Why couldn’t they make the next game for the Wii U then?
I feel like they should have kept the original format rather than turn the game into a platformer. The original concept of the IP hasn’t even been exposed enough to newer gamers for it to just be stripped down. The DSI game was a huge gimmick if I’m correct.
We just gotta email the developers and tell them we want a HD next gen entry of the series. lol
The DS game about growing flowers wasn’t as good as the original, but still really fun, especially for a DS game with 3D graphics. I think people probably just wasn’t willing to give it a try since it wasn’t on a console. But the 3DS game about taking pictures was so lame I couldn’t even finish the demo. So now I think Nintendo wants to rebuild the franchise to start over with one more chance.

I want to try this game out. 15 dollars is my max price point however. It honestly doesn’t look too good lol
I’m only buying this game because (to my knowledge) it’s the only way to get the Chibi-Robo amiibo.
>>>The empire should erase anything Chibi related at once starting with Federation Force, other than that, this is the same reasoning the Segans did with Sonic, turning it into pure garbage from its speeding excellence>>>
The “speeding” is why Sonic games have always SUCKED!
||One thing I agree with that Commander Drone is that you’re nothing more than a servant of the casual rubbish……
Oh look, a fanboy.
Hey Sickr? Why haven’t you posted this Q&A on this site yet?
