Skull Kid Will Be A Playable Character in Hyrule Warriors Legends

Yes, you will soon be able to play as Skull Kid in the upcoming Nintendo 3DS title, Hyrule Warriors Legends. The news was revealed today via Famitsu which states that Skull Kid will use his Ocarina as a deadly weapon to slay his foes as well as his fairy sidekick. The Japanese publication also revealed that Phantom Ganon, who was a boss in Zelda Ocarina of Time, will be appearing in Hyrule Warriors Legends.

  1. People were begging for Skull Kid to be added to Hyrule Warriors and now he is in the game, that would have been a good thing if the only way to get him in the Wii U version wasn’t by also buying the 3DS version that’s seriously the most stupid thing ever.

  2. There had better be a way to get him and the other new characters on Wii U without having to buy the 3DS version. Frankly, Wii U owners ought to be able to get them for free after this stab in the back.

Unless the characters can only be transferred over by way of a one time use only code. So everyone with a Wii U version will need a friend that has no one else to give the code to but you. Otherwise, we’re screwed.

        1. Knowing Nintendo, they will be one-time-use codes. And they’ll probably disallow posting said codes on Miiverse.

Nintendo was doing DLC right with the Mario Kart 8 packs and the first 3 sets of HW DLC plus Dark Link if you bought the bundle pack, what the fuck happened?

I fucking know, right!? It’s fucking infuriating! Did the money from those DLCs corrupt Nintendo already!? Ugh… This is what worries me about Federation Farce making a profit. I hope the money from that game selling doesn’t give them the wrong fucking ideas & they make the next main Metroid game into filthy kiddy casual bullshit. But recent history keeps smacking me across the face saying “Don’t expect Nintendo to not be stupid after Federation Force sales.” *shudder*

            1. Unfortunately the way I see things going for Metroid right now, if the people in charge of it remain in charge, one of two things will happen from FF. Either it will sell well and give those lunatics the idea that this is what Metroid should be now, or it will sell terribly (my personal hope) and they’ll think people in general don’t want Metroid anymore (my personal fear). Either will be a nightmare.

Same here. But like that new Chibi-Robo game, I refuse to be blackmailed into supporting a game that isn’t even a true representation of the series so if it’s to be the last game in the franchise, so fucking be it. I’d rather the franchise die than become something it isn’t.

Least with Fire Emblem Awakening, even though the game had a casual mode which removed perma-death, the game stayed true to it’s roots since you could still play Fire Emblem the old fashioned way.

I’m glad they finally added it because perma-death was less a challenge & more of a major inconvenience to me because I’d always restart the bloody chapter so I could make sure everyone survived. I still have nightmares of playing my very first Fire Emblem game, the first one to release outside of Japan with Roy’s father Eliwood, and going into furies because I’d have to restart some chapters over, & over, & over, & over, & over again. ARGH!!! So for me, the ability to remove perma-death was a blessing.

  3. Guys it’s not a stab in the back. It’s normal to rerelease a game with all the DLC ready from the start. It’s not like the DLC just came out its been out for months. By the time the game comes out even the most recent DLC will be about a year old. And the Wii U version is still clearly the better of the two, it had way better graphics, more enemies on screen, and more game modes. If you want the new content buy the new game, or wait and maybe the DLC will be available to buy for the Wii U version. Didn’t they already say they would if there was enough demand?

You’re right. It’s not a stab in the back… It’s a punch in the face, a kick to the stomach, and then two stabs in the back.

    2. They meant the 3ds version would have dlc if there was demand, might want to read it in love. :)

And it is kinda a slap in the face. They said it wasn’t going to exist in the first place, but 3ds owners port begged soo… And now tk has just like Nintendo started favoring the wiius spoiled little brother.

Smash for Wii U is the best of the two yet the 3DS version is kicking the Wii U version’s ass. Oh & not to mention the 3DS version is getting it’s story mode extended. No word on if that will also be made available on the Wii U version at some point. So sadly, the Wii U version is NOT the best.

  4. Day 1.
I sat on Xenoblade for years, then completed the game whrn it was easily accessible on my 3DS.
I figure same will happen for this game…
Does anyone know if we can coop on the N3DS version?

      1. I’d love that. Also, I think the WiiU is the only way to play Challenge Mode…which is Huge.

So, I feel kinda sorry for those miffed over this, but I’m glad to have it portable and 3D.

With the exception of X and Fatal Frame, I plan on mostly Nintendo-gaming on my handheld.

  5. I was really hoping for Skull Kid back when I first heard about Hyrule Warriors, but with his weapons being “Link’s Ocarina” which he doesn’t even know how to play, and his abused “friend Tael”, as opposed to, I dunno, Majora’s powers and dark magic, I doubt his rendition in this game is going to appeal to me.

That and Hyrule Warriors is nothing but a money-grubbing repetitive barebones grindfest.

  6. I wish they would have added another original character and a new seperate story to the 3ds version, that really would have given everyone who owns the wiiu and 3ds a reason to own both versions!

*twitch* Like Ganondorf in Smash, Skull Kid won’t even be an accurate portrayal of his character from the game. He probably won’t even have on fucking Majora’s Mask! Sad, really, because they did so well with Ganondorf in Hyrule Warriors, making his Smash Brothers counterpart a total joke that isn’t even true to character. And Sakurai had the nerve to say he didn’t want to make Ridley work because it wouldn’t be true to character to shrink him & reduce his flying capability. Trollurai struck us Ridley supporters so hard when he made us think he’d actually shrink Ridley because of all the shots at characters being resized like the Nintendogs & Olimar. Oh & not to mention Pikachu who is supposed to be a few inches tall yet comes right up to Mario’s shoulders. Damn it… I went off on a tangent!
