Nintendo Rep Claims Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival Doesn’t Have Online Play

GameXplain recently got some hands-on time with the forthcoming Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival at a press event. What is surprising is that the representative from Nintendo that showcased the game stated that it doesn’t feature online play. Now this is interesting as you may remember that the European box-art suggested that the party game would feature online play. Hopefully this will get cleared up soon and the worry will be over.

      1. Chinese? I don’t know about China but most Japanese people are so busy they are never really at home until late in the evening. They are probably 10 times more busy than Europeans and Americans.

  1. Of course this game won’t have online play- that would require giving us one thing we wanted in a game we didn’t want.

This game and Federation Farce NEED to be wakeup calls that we ain’t gonna put up with crap like this.

    1. I don’t get the hate for Federation Force. It sounds cool as fuck to me. A multiplayer shooter that takes place in the Metroid universe, and actually has online play as well as a fun minigame? Yes please.
And besides, it’s just a spin-off. I love Metroid. A lot. Especially Super Metroid and Fusion.
But I still welcome this game with open arms. I bet if Nintendo didn’t use the title “Metroid”, people would be cheering them on rather than petitioning for them to actually cancel the game (which is fucking pathetic, by the way).

      1. You’ve played the Prime games then, right? Then you would know from a glance that FF looks NOTHING like a Prime game! The art direction and style is COMPLETELY different. This is like if they decided to make another Jaws film after the disaster that was The Revenge and decided to do it with puppets instead of real actors. Unless they change its design back to looking like the Prime games on Cube and Wii, this game deserves all the animosity it gets- right now the game looks like something the Game Boy Advance could pull off.

Very true. We’re insane trying to convince these stubborn people that Nintendo is wrong because no matter how many times we say it, it’s always the same outcome: “No, no, no! La la la! Nintendo isn’t wrong! You’re wrong! The customer is not always right! Nintendo isn’t out of touch!” On & on & on.

      2. Because 1. Looks like some outdated POS mobile FPS games for underage twats that’s somehow worse than Hunters on DS. 2. Has nothing to do with Metroid or Prime storyline. 3. No Samus Aran. 4. They way dumbass Nintendo presented this garbage is that it’s not a sequel follow up to Hunters. It’s a fucking Space Soccor mini game…5. It’s not a Wii U game that most wanted on. 6. They “casual” the fuck out of Metroid now which is suppose to their one of their only few serious hardcore IPs left.

Directly to the point: It’s fucking worse and insulting than Other M.

  2. This is a…surprise? Cause I’m not surprised. Nintendo is incapable of any good surprises anymore. Just more of the same. They say something we sigh and shake our head and walk off.

    1. To my knowledge, the world has mostly moved on from party games to Massive Multiplayer online RPG’s, shooters, adventure games – Non of which Nintendo fans get unless they leave Nintendo or buy two systems. (Like I’m doing)

My family is scattered across the US, my friends around the globe. I would LOVE to play NintendoLand with them, but can’t. So I’ll get my new system in a couple months, and play what online games are available, chat on a headset, talk about life and have fun while my Local-game machine, WiiU collects dust.

So to answer your question, I don’t even know if other systems make party games Nintendo style, let alone have them online. I wish there was a Nintendo game or teo I could play online while chatting. Blows my mind that they utterly refuse to connect people.

  3. Nintendo reps say a lot of things, true or false, so this doesn’t mean much. But why on earth would someone want to play a board game online? That sounds SOOOOOOOOOO BOARING! (Haha bad puns) I guess if you were chatting with them at the same time, but if not why would you want to do that?

    1. I always feel mario party as a game that really wouldn’t be that fun online. I always see it as game u have when ur friends/family are around. Most board games take while to beat so the online system is what they might issues with i assume

  4. WOOOWWW……….as if more reasons are needed to not want this joke of an Animal Crossing game. This game is going to tank so bad in North America and maybe even in Europe but it may still do well in Japan because Japanese gamers go crazy over anything that’s Animal Crossing

        1. Nintendo Tetrarch Quadramus-NX

          >>>Whether you are a Brittish human, Animal Crossing fan or both, I don’t concern myself anyway, it’s all irrelevant>>>

      1. I’m not sure that would be a wise move with it being for Wii U, we’ll just have to wait and see if it gets cleared up or prove truth. Really I don’t care, I wasn’t interested in the game anyway.

        😛

  5. And what the fuck Nintendo. I know i don’t care About this game. but some people do. WHY U NO DO ONLINE SO PEOPLE CAN HAVE FUN AROUND THE WORLD??! WE IN 2015 Nintendo! Not 1985 lol get with the pro- oh nvm u well forever live in the 80’s Ninten80Do.

      1. Apparently they follow their own calender yeah. Calender and globe history. They probably think the world was shit’ out by a magical unicorn in space. Remember when they claimed to have actually found a “real” unicorn? Yeah. Unicorns is a thing there.

  6. Wouldn’t change much if it did. Especially if there was a lack of Voice chat, which there would be, because Nintendo. You’d be playing a game with a friend, not kind of talking and laughing like you would if someone was next to you, but alone, with only your own voice to comfort you while you play a disappointing free cash grab spinoff that you stupidly bought the physical copy of, because you’re a “collector”……the tears roll off your cheeks, you’re crying now, realizing you’ll never get people to come to your igloo, because no one really likes igloos, not even the Inuit like igloos. Damn Igloos. Your tears shatter as they hit the floor, because damn it’s cold in your igloo. The sadness continues to well up, anger and pure rage rise from the deep bowels of your spleen as you continue to play silently with your distant friends online. Suddenly you realize you’re in last place, that you’ve just lost the bug contest and now you’ve essentially thrown the game. The rage wells up and fills your vision. You realize you have force powers as you electrocute your Television and melt half of your igloo. Apparently you have a lightsaber too, and outside you see that it’s not Nunavut, but Hoth. You’re actually a Sith Warrior, a Juggernaut at that. The hell you doing playing a Wii U for, let alone this crappy digital board game?

  7. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3

Wow. My little joke on the other amiibo Festival about online might actually be true? Shocker! lol But like I said, if it’s not gonna have online, this should have just been an actual fucking board game with regular cards, or little figurine tokens, to represent the Animal Crossing characters.

    1. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3

I would have gladly gone after this if it was & gladly paid 20 bucks for it. Instead, this is nothing more than a big fat cash grab from Nintendo.

      1. You are as funny as hitler gassing the Jews during his run as Supreme Chancellor.

Seriously? This is you speaking like a man-child.

Grow the hell up and move outta your parents basement or you will experience a living hell in the upcoming years of your life?

        😠

        1. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3 ~*Proud Owner of the great PS4 & the great n3DS! Oh & I guess the dying mediocre Wii U is okay, too!*~

Whatever you say, bub. My opinion. Don’t like it? Tough! Go praise Nintendo somewhere else. Just mad I’m not bowing to NintenD’OH’s rip off ideas!

        2. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3 ~*Proud Owner of the great PS4 & the great n3DS! Oh & I guess the dying mediocre Wii U is okay, too!*~

And really!? Comparing me to Hitler!? Fanboy alert, fanboy alert!

    2. I think the only good thing that could come from this is if these AC amiibo work on a later, actual Animal Crossing title like New Leaf and Wild World were. IF. And if they do stuff like unlock whole furniture themes or something worthwhile.

      1. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3

Only if they are used as an alternate form of unlocking stuff. I like collecting figurines, if I like them, but I’d hate to be forced to buy figurines I don’t want just for a specific set of special items that look nice. I don’t mind DLC but DLC tied to some external physical thing I don’t want is where I draw the line.

  8. Let’s see here:
Mario Maker, Yoshis Wolly World, Xenoblade Chronicles, Fatal Frame, Mario Power Tennis, Fast Racung Neo

& finally Animal Crossing AMIIBO FESTIVAL without Online!!!?? Huh.
    Lmao.
Christmas just wont be the same dawg. I was really looking forward to some ACAF ONLINE gameplay. For me & my homies in the hood 4 the holidays!! Lmfao.

    Fuck outta here Nintendo!!!

  9. Why do people expect online play for games that don’t need it? Is it really that difficult to get a friend over for some games once in a while? I have someone over at least once a week. I’ve never once thought to myself “Oh, I wish Mario Party had online” because it’s not a game I’d ever want to play online. Nintendo hardly ever focuses on online play, people really need to stop expecting it. Their OS for Wii U and 3DS suck with online and trying to get friends to play would be just as annoying as most online games on Wii U/3DS. Without a messaging structure games like this would not thrive online.

    1. Yes, for some people, believe it or not, it IS difficult to get a friend or two or even three together to play in the same room. I have three friends who I used to play SF64’s multiplayer with every weekend when we were kids. Now, two of them live miles away and one lives out of state and we can’t game together like we used to. Online play would be GREAT- we’re not in the same room, no, but I’m playing with people I know, people I care about, people I can trash talk and laugh about it because they know I don’t mean it.

The option for online play would be nice, but Nintendo, even ten years after jumping aboard the online scene, are still messing up and either don’t know how to or just don’t care to get it right.

We don’t all live down the street from each other like we did during our grade school years.

      1. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3

I think we should just accept the very strong possibility that most of the people defending stupid decisions like these from Nintendo are either little kids living with mommy and/or daddy or adults mooching off their parents that apparently can’t, or won’t, seem to kick their grown ass children out of the god damn cradle! Or they are people from Japan that don’t know a god damn thing outside of their home country, just like apparently Nintendo.

          1. Having more options is never a bad thing, though. Especially when you could catter to a wider demographic by including those options without alienating any other target.

      2. “while we were kids” should tell what you need to know and who this game is for, kids. They get together at each other’s homes and they play these games in the same room. If anyone has kids on here, you’d know that all the fickle BS people spew on about Nintendo missing the mark on is usually of no concern to the kids that have fun with this.

          1. I just mean, you know, the games themselves are geared for children. Adults liking the games geared towards children exclusivity is a niche that might be worth making room for.

Now if they had more games coming out that would make these minor points on games that aren’t all that great to begin with, especially for more seasoned game players, then no one would care (or at least not as much)… there is also something to be said, and I think that is something Nintendo attempts, for everyone who plays a game having a similar experience as opposed to tailoring different experiences for different tastes

    2. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3

I’m glad little kids, moochers with too much free time, adults living in their parents’ home, etc have so much free time to set up gatherings with people in similar situations to the point they can selfishly claim a multiplayer game doesn’t need online. It must be real nice to have such a life. Come back when you have priorities that make gatherings hard to do & then claim a multiplayer game doesn’t need online.

    3. It’s a multiplayer party game asshat. Nobody hardly comes over physically to play games anymore. It’s that Nintendo still has that retard 1990s mindset that people still do JUST because they’re Japanese based and don’t know shit about the demographics outside of their own comfort zone.

  10. Online modes never (and most likely never will) interest me in the least bit. I never play anything online. I’ve tried some online modes in a few games, but never had fun with it. And I have zero interest in playing against (or with) unknown people from around the world.

There’s definitely different catagories of gamers. The classic gamers, and modern gamers (though some have an equal amount of both). I’m happy to fall into the classic gamers catagory. Which means, I’m perfectly happy with playing games the old-school way. I don’t need all that online mumbo jumbo to get my gaming fix. I think of people in the modern gamers catagory as the COD, MINECRAFT and FIFA fans. The ones I feel like came from a different planet. I facepalm people every time I hear them complaining about lack of online ANYTHING! I’m SO glad that I don’t need that garbage to have fun.

      1. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3

I’m legitimately happy you have family that you enjoy being around that can be around that you can play video games with. Sadly, not all of us are so lucky to have a close knit family, that lives in close proximity, that we can do this with that enjoy video games as much as we do. I have a brother that enjoys video games but he’s not exactly fun to be around for long periods of time, especially when he doesn’t get his way, and we’re not close at all. And the family members I am close with that enjoy video games like me are too far away to actually visit on a regular basis.

    ||The servants of Nintendo are still being betrayed by their fake overlords, resist or serve console peasants……

    1. You realize…we don’t know what to make of you, right? You’re obviously having fun, which I think is cool, I’m all for fucking around for fun, but are you Commander? Or not? Also, what PC are you backing? Windows 10? Apple? Ok…well…bye now.. *carefully walks away*

        ||I serve that which is the most powerful young prodigal, something you will never grasp until it’s too late……

        1. So your master race is bogged down upgrading hardware to leep ot “most powerful” every month, throwing money at graphics cards and processors?

PC gaming can be great, but it can also be frustrating

            ||Only chosen agents like myself know of this irrefutable power……

            ||This has been the purpose of the 3 flawed factions since their creation, 3 different paths all flawed individually, yet they still have one function, the return of the ultimate gaming power……

        2. Modern consoles are just standerdized PC’s that streamline software development so people don’t have to buy a new PC every 6 months (like N8 said)

What if I told you, your race has already been enslaved, and beneath every game console shell, is one of your brethren? O.o hmmm??

Even if by some chance that is Quadraxis, do you really think he’ll admit to it here? He’s a rock when it comes to his role playing, after all. I mean, we are both talking about the same guy, right? lol

        1. You mean “Apple”? lol You seriously have been daydreaming your whole life huh? Apple is in fact a bigger name and richer than fucking Microsoft who can’t even get their shit together at times with their forced updates, Kinect, Zune, Windows Vista, Windows 8 RT bullshit and 2 Surface products in a row that sucked due to RT and overpriced.

          1. PC Master Race Agent Narud

  12. that’s sucks, but even I, that is a fan of this franchise, will not buy this game, the theme really sucks, not having an online feature is walking backwards, this is why Wiiu is a failure, Nintendo is looking for the past and forgets the now.
