With the news out-of-the-way that the first smartphone title from DeNA and Nintendo has been delayed until next year, we now know what the game is. It’s titled Miitomo and is free to play with microtransactions. The company’s other smartphone games will be pay-to-download. You can read more about the game, below.

Looks like Miis go ahead and communicate with other Miis without your knowledge. This will help people who are hesitant to talk about themselves to communicate with others, and reveal a side of your friends you never knew, Mr. Kimishima says.
In the new “Miitomo” game, users will design their own avatars, or “Miis,” to communicate with other users. Executive Shinya Takahashi says that Nintendo will find ways to encourage people who are hesitant to talk to share things about themselves.
Miitomo is the first of five smartphone apps that Nintendo plans to release by March 2017.

Nintendo is taking a more cautious approach rather than going in full-throttle into this mobile venture I see. They’re sticking their toe in the water rather than their whole entire leg. It’s a free-to-play game so I really don’t know why people are so upset. The games will get better

We’ll have to see how they implement this, because as-is, it goes against everything they’ve done by stripping us of Letterbox / Swapnote, making miiverse nearly unusable, and this…is some kind of ass-backwards social thing?

The excuse of it being their first Mobile game is bullshit sir. What was the fucking point of acquiring a Mobile Game development company. If they had released a port of SMB1,2&3 – that would have probably been recieved better.

That’s not a fair statement because there are hundreds to thousands of devs who add games to the App Store, while Nintendo has significantly less. Not to mention Nintendo’s games are much more expensive and “full” than mobile games.

Swapnote / Letterbox was Free. After making friends on nearly every continent, Nintendo shut it down without warning due to some fucktard missusing it and some parent not setting parental settings.
This appears to be social-related, which I’ve learned, turns out to be fun, then stripped down to a disappointment…every…time.
I’d rather pay for fun entertainment than get disappointment for free.
Maybe with the new President, Nintendo will take a step forward in the social-space, I’m just not holding my breath.

I would say I’m more nervous than upset.
I’m just worried we’ll finally get a functional, social/ communication app, only to have it taken away or patched into uselessness…. Not out of blind angst, but from data and history.
Science is testable, repeatable and measurable… So to speculate based on every social attempt Nintendo has made is a legit concern.
They get everyone excited, say they’re gonna release a game by the end of the year and then delay it and show something involving Miis…. I don’t think Nintendo quite realizes how stupid this is. And then there’s the fact that the other titles (the ones people will probably want) will be paid titles. My experience with paid titles is they’re generally just as worthless as free ones. So there’s likely going to be paid content in those too. I don’t know why they thought showing a Mii game was the best idea but it clearly isn’t, as can be shown by the reaction from fans and stock holders. This isn’t so much a game as a social platform. As with most social networks it’ll come and go. I don’t see this having too much attention.
