Splatoon Wins Best Nintendo Game At Golden Joystick Awards

Nintendo’s ink-tastic shooter Splatoon was voted by consumers as the Golden Joystick Awards Best Nintendo Game. Nintendo’s brand new IP managed to beat established franchises such as The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate to win the accolade. Splatoon also picked up the award for Best Family Game. Nintendo will no doubt be proud of this achievement as they had no idea how popular the game would become with fans.

        1. Of course it can be your personal best game of 2015, great if you enjoyed it that much.
But its multiplayer is far from being excellent, in my opinion. It also had many other flaws which got taken care of a whole 3 months after launch. Some other flaws are still present. I personally don’t think it would deserve to be the GOTY, especially in comparison to some other games.
Don’t get me wrong though, I’m not saying it’s a bad game, but in my view, it’s definitely far from being the best.

        2. I couldn’t agree more. I haven’t seen such an interesting gameplay concept in a LOOONG time and it is probably the most original game I’ve played all year. It just feels so good to play it, it’s hard to explain Is the single-player a little short? Yes. Is the multi-player completely addictive? You bet. I can’t help thinking that if this game was a PS4 or Xbox One exclusive people would think differently about it. Don’t want to start a war, it’s just my opinion.

      1. Doesn’t have much to do with those things. Each one of the big three have their own categories. EA is irrelevant to the point, they don’t have their own platform.
Also, if you look closely, Nintendo roughly does the same things every gen too (MK, MP, TLoZ, etc.). Not necessarily a bad thing, if there’s new things inbetween.

          1. Hmm, I don’t know, why would they stop doing that if there’s obvious demand for it? There seems to be enough people who still enjoy the games, seeing how many copies of games like Fifa sell every year, so they would lose a lot of potential money if they didn’t release it every year.
I’m not the biggest fan of sports games myself, but I can see why people don’t mind getting new ones each year, when it comes to Fifa, for example. I guess it kinda has to with fandom and all that, people want to see their favourite teams updated, want to see the new players that joined their favourite team and whatnot in the game. There can be a lot of changes in the world of sports within a single year, and I can understand why people would like their game to be as up-to-date as it can be, simply because it’s based on the real world.
And while it’s true that those games usually really don’t change very much, you have to keep in mind that there simply isn’t much you can do with a game that’s based on a real sport with set rules and is supposed to be realistic.
Of course it’s absolutely alright to not like the concept of annual releases, and sports games in general, but yea, I believe it’s just as alright for people to like them indeed.

    1. I will say there 3 best game of 2015 1. Splatoon 2. Super Mario Maker 3. Mario Party 10 all of these games are great and no game is fun as these games, These titles can keep on playing for few months, like other games play few times and get boring quickly the only game i play most on my PS4 is Samurai Warriors 4 II its great but not good as Wiiu game Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper.

  1. “…Nintendo’s brand new IP managed to beat established franchises such as The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate to win the accolade…”

Huh… MM’s a polished port of a 5th gen game, so it should be irrelevant in this category. & while MH4U’s an exclusive a Nintendo platform, it’s still a Capcom game, so it too should be irrelevant in this category. But this gen & the last gen have been off-kilter, so go figure…or don’t since common since is irrelevant now in this industry.

  2. I was just playing the “PIRATES VS NINJAS” Splatfest this past Fri & Sat.

GO NINJAS!!! But…..I wonder why they keep matching me with level 7, 8, 9 , or 10 while I’m almost at level 40? Then when we lose it’s because they put my novice team against 2 level 50’s & two 40 tiered players.

  3. These are the best games at Golden Joystick Awards:
    1. The witcher 3 – Xboxone
    2. Bloodborne – PS4
    3. Splatoon – Wiiu
    4. Grand Theft Auto V – PC
    5. Metal Gear Solid V – PS4
    6. Life is strange – PC
Now take look at these games Bloodborne is very underated boring game, Witcher 3 not interested, Grand theft auto not my type of game, life is strange …, metal gear solid v mind blowing game oh yes PS4 has won the best version of this game, and finally Splatoon on Wiiu is one of the my favourite of the list and my bet is one of these title Metal Gear Solid V and splatoon becoming game of the year unless xenoblade chronicles delivers better immersed open world gameplay experience this game has stunning graphics.
