Star Fox Zero Website Mentions Online Features And Amiibo

The official Star Fox Zero website has some information potentially worth noting for the upcoming 2016 release. The site mentions both amiibo functionality and also online features. Although the mention of online functionality could just be referring to Miiverse posts – it could also mean the game may have additional online modes.

The site quotes:

“Game, system and amiibo sold separately. Compatibility and functionality of amiibo may vary by game. Visit amiibo.com for specific details on how each amiibo works.

Broadband Internet access required for online features. For more info, go to support.nintendo.com.”

        1. I thought he was saying the game would have online gameplay, but now I don’t think he actually meant that, so nevermind.

    1. Nah I think they did both. You can see a screenshot on that very site of a build that looks like it’s refined and besides Miyamoto has already reiterated that they wanted to add more polish because the visuals seemed a little bland

  1. i thought they said this game will not have a online mode in the game they did said that but i’m really surprise they are adding it in the game.

    1. They actually said they were highly considering putting in an online mode shortly after release, right about when it’s now supposed to release next year.

  2. I have a simple strategy on these things.
    Set the bar low.
    Set your expectations low.
I’m getting this game. I’m going to really put my best foot forward and try to enjoy it.
If nintendo surprises me with online gameplay? Outstanding. Am I expecting it? Hell no.

It makes being a Nintendo fan much easier.

      1. I just hope Nintendo gave Platinum a very long leash and free reign. If they did, Platinum won’t let us down. (Please Platinum don’t let us down! )

        1. Star Fox Command is the direct sequel to Star Fox Assault, published on Nintendo DS in 2006.It was the last non-remake star fox game until star fox ZERO was shown at E3 2015.

            1. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3

Well least not Command since Krystal from Adventures was in Assault. Unless Assault retconned Krystal & I just don’t remember…

    1. The Local coop in the classic versions. It encouraged multiple play-throughs in campaign mode to unlock new multiplayer modes.

People used to pay me and my brother to unlock everything for $15. Back then, it was really good money! ;D

  3. The amiibo functionality we already knew is in the game, if I remember correctly Miyamoto said that you would get a in game present when you scan a Fox or Falco amiibo and he also said that he wanted to make transformable Arwing/Walker amiibo if that was possible. Now let’s just hope that they actually have added an online mode.

  4. I was taking a look at the website and don’t understand what they mean by the graphics suck.maybe I just don’t understand since I had Nintendo consoles since the beginning of the Nes(expect the GameCube because I got a ps2 instead)do graphics really help make a game better?

    1. Not very. Actually back in the day Nintendo had the best graphics out of all the systems. Graphics don’t matter that much to me though, it’s mostly about the gameplay. Graphics is just icing on the amazing cakes Nintendo bakes up.

      1. The fact that Nintendo has always had the best graphics of each generation is a very debatable point. I’d go as far as to argue that it was only true during the fifth gen (probably during the third as well, I’m not that familiar with the Master System and the like).

      2. But isn’t Nintendo’s legendary and undisputed videogame legacy based on those older systems that were viewed as “powerful.”
I don’t think that’s a coincidence. It meant something to be proud your console was strong enough to keep up with software innovation.

          1. Don’t get me started on the Wii… That was a “Success” that fundimentally changed how Nintendo measures success, and totally misguided them as to who their core audience was. It was the beginning of the end of the Nintendo I grew up with, and the taste of casual blood has left Nintendo blood-thirsty for more and… The Wii changed Nintendo like money and stardom changes kids if they become famous.

We may have to agree to disagree, but I curse the Wii for forever changing Nintendo into the twisted version of the company they became afterwards.

Why is the WiiU not a raving success? Because everyone who bought a wii, was happy with a wii. They didn’t all upgrade to a WiiU. They bought tablets. – But that won’t stop Nintendo from pouring their resources into a fickle market, even if it means sacrificing everything and everyone that used to love them.

Don’t get me started on the Wii….

          2. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3

The Wii might be the best selling console but it’s also it’s worst console. Why? Because the Wii has corrupted Nintendo. They’ve gotten a taste of making billions of dollars & they apparently can’t get enough of it.

              1. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3

making billions of dollars on one product brand in less than 5 years*

(Ugh! Edit feature, WordPress! Do you know it, motherfucker!?)

      1. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3

If I recall, Pikmin 3 pulled the same bullshit marketing. Online multiplayer would have definitely made up for the short ass story mode. :/

  6. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3

Oh look! Another game claiming online features, hyping it up, only to release the game with just leaderboards & Miiverse bullshit! Pikmin 3 did the same exact thing if I recall correctly.

Nintendo, the rest of the world is not like Japan. Not everyone has either the time or money to go visit friends, or have friends visit them, to make use of local play. Get back in touch with the world outside of Japan & evolve already damn it! The US still has many, many, many years before we have an awesome subway system that spans the entire country. In fact, we probably won’t have something similar to 100 years or more later. Maybe Nintendo is hard at work on making teleportation devices & this is why they refuse to go full on with online multiplayer. lol

      >>>To be fair, western humans have even more time to do these things than our Homeworld, problem is, they often just don’t want to do it because they are lazy and rather be home than at a friend’s home unless that friend has a party where they can conduct their typical primitive sexual rituals>>>

    2. Don’t blame Nintendo, they are not hyping anything up. It’s just a sentence at the bottom of the site saying that you need internet access to use the online functions, which you do. If people just assume that it means online multiplayer instead of Miiverse and updates, that’s on them, not Nintendo.

      1. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3

Actually, I can blame Nintendo because they shouldn’t attach something like that to a game if it’s not going to use the very online stuff that people expect when they see that line. Or least attach something else to it stating the online only refers to this or that. It’s such a broad sentence that anyone can assume anything from it.

        1. And it’s precisely because it is so broad why people should stop assuming things about it. It’s not Nintendo’s fault if people just assume that a vage sentence means what they want it to meant. It doesn’t even hint at only multiplayer in any shape or form.

        2. Nintendo Tetrarch Quadramus-NX

          >>>And that’s exactly what all cases have, describing that online features it has and whether there is any multiplayer or not>>>
