Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival will be coming to the Wii U this month, and if you’re looking to learn more about the colourful boardgame-style title then Nintendo has just the thing.
Nintendo has uploaded a new trailer for the title on their Nintendo Wii U UK YouTube channel and it covers most bases on what the game will include, here’s a quick summary below:
- The Animal Crossing amiibo are used as counters, you can tap the amiibo onto the Wii U GamePad to roll the dice and make moves around the board.
- You can collect Happy Points by landing on a pink space, these can be stored to your amiibo, and later be used to build new features in your town, unlock different emotions and new clothing items.
- You can participate in special events from previous Animal Crossing titles such as Fishing Tourneys and Bug Offs.
- Characters previously seen in the Animal crossing series are also featured in the game such as Katie, Dr. Shrunk, Nat, Jack, and Redd.
- Turnips can also be bought and sold as their prices fluctuate.
- Additional modes such as Desert Island Escape can be played, which will involve mini-games such as scavenger hunts and spin the wheel.

Gold shit might be gold but it’s still shit. Now we have two terrible Mario Party games for the Wii U: one that’s shit & one that’s shit marketed as being a free Animal Crossing spinoff when it’s really, really not even free since you need to buy amiibo for the game to even be playable.
When some people asked for an Animal Crossing game for the Wii U, I highly doubt they were thinking “Oh I’d just love to get a Mario Party type of game of Animal Crossing on my Wii U! Fuck getting a true Animal Crossing game! GIVE ME A SPIN-OFF, NINTENDO!!! PLEASE, OH POWERFUL & GREAT ONE!” <.<

Actually, they should have just done this and not another Mario Party. Buying the game for let’s say 25 bucks should have let you play the game without Amiibo. At least offer half of the characters to play with for no additional costs. It is after all just a damn boardgame, you can’t really play it alone. You can’t even play it online. Then again, yeah, this game doesn’t really need to exist. At all.
Not trying to be too negative but an actual AC game, a main series game would have been SOOO nice. Zelda and Star Fox got delayed so all Nintendo ( first party ) has is the new Xenoblade with might not suit everybody, especially not kids. Or do the count Mario fucking tennis with no online either? Eh, no, it’s just tennis. No kid is gonna jump up and down getting that game. Unless they somehow really love tennis. Which is let’s say, unlikely.

Bah. All I really wanted was an HD revisit of New Leaf with better features. Let me control where new residents move in so they don’t build a house in the middle of my orchards, let me decorate outside, more interesting conversations, expand the events maybe let my Villager be my Mii; these are things I actually want in a new Animal Crossing. This and Happy Home Designer are big let downs, though at least HHD has some fun AC elements in it. Shrug. Oh well. Disappointing, but not the end of video games or anything so dramatic.
