Famitsu Reveals Ganondorf Will Get New Moveset In Hyrule Warriors Legends

Neogaf user, Ryce, has revealed that according to this week’s copy of Famitsu, Ganondorf will be getting a new lightning-based trident moveset in the 3DS version of Hyrule Warriors Legends.

Apparently, this moveset will also be transferable to the Wii U version of the game once released. This news may also be covered in next week’s Hyrule Warriors Legends video.

  1. “This news may also be covered in next week’s Hyrule Warriors Legends video.”

Not likely. Last time they stated a video was “next week,” it was Tetra’s character trailer. They did them in order so far, Skull Kid is probably next if anything.

xD Unfortunately, that troll/asshole Sakurai is too stubborn, and set in his ways, to ever do something like that for characters that deserve an overhaul of their “Look what character I’m copying even though there is plenty of source material to give me an original moveset that is more true to my character!” moveset. -.- This is why I’ll be glad when Sakurai finally makes good on his promise to never do another Smash because maybe the next guy won’t be so “Fuck what you, the fans, want! I’m doing what I want for the character! You just don’t understand my vision! Blah blah blah!”

      1. Yeah, it’s extremely weird to get characters that basically play and feel exactly the same as in their original game (I swear Mega Man came straight out of the NES games) and then take a look at the likes of Ganondorf.

I know many people are fond of his moveset (I personally am), but I see no reason why we can’t have another variation of him that actually resembles his boss incarnations gameplay-wise. It would certainly be much better received that Dr. Mario, Dark Pit and Lucina combined.

Hyrule Warriors has had the best Ganondorf design by far, though. It’s not too cartoonish, like Toon Ganondorf, or too realistic, like Princess Leia-err… I mean Twilight Princess Ganondorf. But yeah. His Smash moveset needs an overhaul. But like I said above to Marce, Sakurai won’t do shit.

Sweet! A Great Sword moveset AND a Trident moveset for Ganondorf! Now if they’d just give him a Twin Katana moveset, ala Wind Waker! Since this game has WW characters, I’ll be annoyed, pissed, & let down if they don’t give Ganondorf that weapon type.

By far the best Ganondorf fight was Wind Waker’s on top of Ganon’s Tower. What a fucking climactic fight to an awesome game. Not like that lame fight between Ganondorf & Link in Twilight Princess. It was practically Link Skywalker VS Darth Ganonvader! xD

      1. And definitely more like Nintendo because for so long they demanded them to change the move set so he wouldn’t look and feel like a Captain Falcon clone. Did they listen or recommend it? No so it’s entirely on them too for their usual ignorance on fans.

        1. its as Kinuko said, creator of skull girls, @kinucakes via twitter, “The designers may have created the game, but its the company that owns it”. In other words, Sakurai and others like Miyamoto, legendary game designers and producers…Really have no control over their own designs. If you knew more about business, you’d understand that fact.

          1. Bullshit. If you knew more about Japanese business you’d know that the better know directors get respect from the higher-ups to do their own thing. As long as the games keep making a profit, they don’t give a fuck. Or do you think that Yoshida is all over the design nuances of every God of War that comes out? He has bettee shit to do.

                1. And it seems like you don’t look for yourself. Here, let me say it another way. Do you see Inafune and his mega man creator buddy with the IP Mega Man? No. They had to use a new idea called Beck also known as Mighty No.9. Who still has Mega man? Capcom. Does the duo work at capcom anymore? NO!!!

Not enough proof? Ok, Does the creators of Banjo KAZOOIE, Have their old IPS? NO, they have Yoka lay lee for a soul replacement like inafune.

Does Miyamoto take control of his greatest creation, Super Mario Bros? NO HE LETS HE NEW CREW TAKE OVER and I quote from him “I no longer work on mario titles but I keep an eye on them”. MEANS HE DOESN’T TOUCH NOT A DAM ONE. Yeah he is a producer still but that means NOTHING compared to what we are talking about since HE IS A DESIGNER!

Still not enough? Sonic Team…They got canned, did they take sonic’s IP? NO! Sega still has it and Sonic team had to go by smart phones.

The gaming industries is a harsh and cruel business. The fact that you go through so much bullshit and then once your fired or leave, you don’t get your creations back, period.

You call it Bullshit, I call you a fool if you think they got their creations. I’ll say that quote one more time. “The designers may have created the game, but its the company that owns it”. Those devs don’t go to twitter (mostly), facebook, tublr, etc for nothing. They are simply doing has their job tells them too….INCLUDING TRAVEL. So, BULLSHIT YOURSELF, I don’t need to show you…but just in case here. a video about game designing and companies.

                  1. Obviously the IP belongs to the company, that’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying that the higher ups don’t get involved in the creative process. By saying that Miyamoto doesn’t get involved with the development of Mario games anymore you’re just proving my point.

You applied that quote wrong in your first post. What he said is true, and you’ve applied the example correctly in this post. However, in your original post you claimed that they had no control over their own designs, which can’t be further away from the truth.

You replied to the wrong post, since Sakurai DOES have creative control over how he want to DESIGN the moveset of a character, because he’s the creative director of the project.

Does that mean he owns the Smash Bros. brand and that he has total control over it? No, of course it doesn’t. What it means is that he doesn’t need the higher authority to get involved in every creative decision because they give him free reign in that aspect.

Summarizing, Starga was talking about creative decision, you replied to him with a quote about IP management which you wrongly applied to creative decisions, I corrected you, you replied with IP management talk again (which had nothing to do with Stranga’s or my own previous post) and I’m correcting you once again. You should try to understand the post you’re replying before hitting the ‘send’ button.

                    1. My words are not getting through so I give up. You need to understand me more, My words DO say something about what I’M TALKING ABOUT. I’ll repeat it once more. “The designers may have created the game, but its the company that owns it”. I’m correcting YOU, not the other way around.

Stranga: “And definitely more like Nintendo because for so long they demanded them to change the move set so he wouldn’t look and feel like a Captain Falcon clone. Did they listen or recommend it? No so it’s entirely on them too for their usual ignorance on fans.”

Me: KEY POINT…“The designers may have created the game, but its the company that owns it”.

                      1. And then you read what Stranga it’s replying to: “That’s more Sakurai than Nintendo”.

I don’t doubt that your words say something about what you’re talking about. I’m telling you that what you’re talking about doesn’t have anything to do with the actual discussion, that you’re trying to justify you position with unrelated examples.

Company = owns the IP. Designers = design. Sakurai is to blame for Ganondorf’s lack of a new moveset, not the higher ups at Nintendo since they aren’t concerned with such things. Distribution of labor and all that.

                      2. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3 ~*Proud Owner of the great PS4 & the great n3DS! Oh & I guess the dying mediocre Wii U is okay, too!*~

You talk about how Nintendo has control & their designers like Sakurai don’t. Then you quote Stranga’s comment here: “And definitely more like Nintendo because for so long they demanded them to change the move set so he wouldn’t look and feel like a Captain Falcon clone. Did they listen or recommend it? No so it’s entirely on them too for their usual ignorance on fans.” You just effectively proved how wrong you are right there in the subject Marce is talking about. You’re clearly talking about one thing while Marce & Stranga are talking about another. Personally, I think you’re just mad Stranga is talking shit about Nintendo & you are taking it personally. But whatever.

*likes Stranga’s & Retrogaminglord’s comments* They both have good points so screw it.
