EA Explains Why It Still Isn’t Planning To Make Anymore Wii U Games

Just in case you were wondering, EA is still pretty adamant in its plans of not making anymore games for Wii U. According to EA’s chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen, the company doesn’t want to support any new system right out of the gate. If the market share isn’t big enough, Jorgensen believes it’s not worth it be on board unless things change for the better.

“We don’t make games anymore for the Wii or the Wii U because the market is not big enough, the PS Vita – the Sony product – we don’t make games for that anymore because the market is too small, so it’s all about the size of the market,” said Jorgensen.

“As one of the largest software producers we have all of the manufacturers of equipment coming to us to try to sell us on their equipment and giving us development kits to try to build software for it. So we’ll build software for various ones but we’ll really wait and see how big the market is going to be.”

  1. Maybe if you supported the system better instead of having your employees bad mouth the system, then there would have been a bigger market for you to sell your games on, everything that EA has done for the Wii U has been a bs effort. The biggest point of which is the whole mass effect 3 debacle. How are you gonna release a trilogy of the games on the same day as a late port of the 3rd game at the same price and expect the Wii U to sell a good amount especially when the install base wasn’t too high at the time, you could’ve released games to help with the drought, but no you had to be butthurt about Nintendo not accepting your shitty online infrastructure. EA is a shitty company.

    1. I was ready to buy ME3 for Wii U on launch day, but damn then they announced that trilogy, and I said to hell with it, I’ll wait till the price drops, I mean initially I thought I’d wait to see if they would eventually bring the trilogy over to the system, but they didn’t, so I eventually bought it back in February new, for about 13 bucks though.

        1. First of all I did buy the game like I stated above. Second no they did not, they’ve put out less than 10 titles on the system, the last of which was back in 2013, Nintendo put out a good bit of quality titles on their system, along with helping with a few third party games.

      1. Glad you got it for $13. It was worth $60. It was way better than the multi-plat version until they patched them, and had great Gamepad integration.

Nintendo abandoned WiiU for years, 3rd party left afterwards.

        1. Oh ok so magically 2 sports titles, and 2 ports of old games (need for speed was great though) accounts to great support of a system! Nintendo hadn’t abandoned the system so idk what you’re talking about. The fact that a trilogy of games came out on the same day and price as the “supposed” definite version shows how much they cared about the Wii U and it’s fans, Nintendo isn’t faultless in all this, but neither are 3rd parties.

          1. Those of us that bought the WiiU at launch, know about the Game Drought that they ADMITTED to.
This is an old argument and not worth having. The WiiU’s doing a fine job proving my point on it’s own anyway.

    2. I agree EA sucks, though, it’s pretty clear the Wii U had no real market to beginning with. It’s also pretty obvious that the Wii U had no true backers when the system dropped or afterwards. They want money – simple. I will not invest in a system that does not sale. I want the Wii U to have third-party, however, ports put onto the Wii U sucked because the system was brand new. Dev’s, despite the system having PS3/Xbox 360 capabilities, was still new. Games will be bad for third-party not familiar with the system. Look at Xbox 360 games when they first released, they looked like shit. Point being is that, when they made their games, they expected Nintendo to make some big jump like the Wii. It didn’t happen, so they abandon ship. I would have done the same sad to say.

        1. But he’s actually right, look what they are doing for Street Fighter 5, look what they did for Europe, HELL LOOK WHAT THEY GAVE US…a fucking GBA port of super street fighter 2 turbo, poor mega man I mean, geez. Glad He’s on smash and that got him back a little…that goes for Ryu too but Capcom need to straighten their bullshit some more. The guy is right, deal with it.

  2. Well they aren’t wrong. The crowd simply wouldn’t be there if they made anything for the Wii U….because their games are generally designed for higher graphical power to make sure that the highly detailed facial hair that wasn’t in the sports games last year, that was added this year, can be seen clearly by the player, or else the little secret that it’s just the exact same game every year could…slip out. Wouldn’t want that, would we?

    1. What I would like to know is what they call a big enough install base. Most third party games get sales from 5% of the install base. 5% of wii u is 550,000 sales. 5% of PS4 is 1,400,000. 5% of xbox one is 800,000. So what % of sales they looking out on an install base. I know they speaking PR but this doesn’t fly at all.

    1. lol…lol

I don’t buy their games either. But I get them for almost free with EA ACCESS on my xbone. With this service I never ever buy a game for 60bucks. After the games are release I get to play them for 10 hours free. THen after about 6 months I get the game absolutely free.

Really? I need to sign up…

    1. no, because they made games for the PS4 and Xbone from the start and Xbone struggled badly it’s first year. It’s more about the fanbase. Nintendo fans just won’t support EA practices and buy unpolished games or late ports. The Nintendo customer is too sophisticated. That won’t change

  6. If the install base was the actual reason, EA should never supported the PS4 and the XBOne back in 2013 since both had zero install base by that time.

So, Mr. Jorgensen is telling us a blatant lie.

The reason is Nintendo does not moneyhat EA. Plain and simple.

However, I still think that lack of general 3rd party support is Nintendo’s fault. The business model changed, and today the companies do have to throw some money towards the softwarehouses in order to get the games.

That being said, while I understand all the hate towards EA, I still care for the most of BioWare titles, and am planning to pick Battlefront up sometime next year.

    1. Third parties need to know their role. Either make games for a platform or don’t. If Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft say we not giving you any money. Then what they going to do.

      1. The current scenario is that the big 3 need 3rd party developers to fill the gaps between 1st party releases. It has been reached a point in which 3rd party studios have the upper hand. Pretty complex, I would not like to be the guy who deals with them. But this is the reality, and Sony and Microsoft have found the best ways to benefit from this.

        1. I will also add, Nintendo will not let them bully them around. Nintendo want third party developers on their systems but not at the cost of hurting their business. Nintendo just not in the business of giving out handouts. I like how they support indie\small 3rd party developers. They are establishing a fanbase with Nintendo gamers. The are the future EA, Activison, Ubisoft, Square Enix, Capcom, Konami, and Take Two.

        1. They do support their console. How many publishers produce more games than Nintendo in a year? I agree Nintendo needed or needs to support the console. I’m not sure what the ratio is but they produce more 3DS games than Wii U games every year.

          1. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3 ~*Proud Owner of the great PS4 & the great n3DS! Oh & I guess the dying mediocre Wii U is okay, too!*~

Like so many say about 3rd party support, crappy support is not real support. Same applies to Nintendo.

            1. I do not disagree with what you deem crappy. I have a nice size collection on my Wii U. First and Third Party games that I deem good to great games. Whether someone see the games as crappy or not, Nintendo publish more games than any other publisher covering two systems and starting next year mobile. You can agree or disagree with the type of games Nintendo produce but hard to disagree with the amount of output Nintendo puts out.

          2. No. They didn’t. Not for a long time after launch. Damn, did you own the WiiU at launch? If you hated Ubi and EA back then, you had NOTHING to play!

            1. Now that’s a total lie too, there was Tekken, ninja gaiden, batman, darksiders, Warriors orochi, Nintendo land, Mario, sonic racing, blops 2, and a few sports titles. Then games trickled throughout 13, including James Bond, Spider-Man, Lego city, walking dead, MH, injustice, resident evil, than game and wario and Pikmin through the summer (Pikmin was great, while wario wasn’t too, showed off some of the gamepad features though) than Zelda HD, deus ex, Wii party, batman, sonic and pac man, ghosts, Mario and sonic, and Mario 3D by the end of the year and games still trickled out, not many cause for whatever reason developers just gave up within the first year, didn’t even give it a chance even after so many stated they were fully intending to support Wii U after receiving dev kits for FREE, then you had the whole back and forth where developers who actually worked on the system said it was pretty powerful, and others who didn’t and still haven’t put out a game saying that it was weaker then last gen, and everyone believes the ones that didn’t even have dev kits. While looking back, I thought there were more Nintendo games throughout the year but I was wrong, but still, there was plenty to play during the first year, and that’s without mentioning EA and Ubisoft, sorry your sofisticated tastes allow you to be blinded by the other games that came out.

                  1. You said Nintendo didn’t support Wii u in its first year and I pointed out that they put out around 6 or so titles, so how many did Sony and Microsoft do in their first year for comparison?

            2. I had plenty to play. I had nintendo made games, third party games, and indie games. You must have forgot about warner bros games too.

    2. Uh, they didn’t pull support right when the system was released – it was only after the Wii U failed to take off because Nintendo didn’t know how to sell the damn thing that they decided it wasn’t worth it.
EA still put support into the Xbox One when sales weren’t as high because they knew that the future prospects for it would most likely turn out well. Both the Xbone and PS4 are a technological improvement over their predecessors, but there’s not a huge, drastic change which would cause consumers to not want to pick them up. The same cannot be said for the Wii U, where Nintendo decided to add in a new gimmick that didn’t replicate the success of the Wii and its motion controls. It was, yet again, a complete left turn in order to fuel “innovation”, but Nintendo did very little to help 3rd parties make a profit on their system – hell, even Nintendo didn’t know what to do with the gamepad and the console for over 2 years, so why would you expect different from 3rd parties?

      1. I see. But that very early support was just valid on the stage. Behind it, EA never committed themselves to fully support the Wii U, which was not the case for the twins: it was clear since day one that the PS4 and the XBone would receive as many games as possible.

Yeah, like you said, Nintendo screwed big time. They could never integrate de gamepad properly, and never cared to make the Wii U attractive enough to justify 3rd party support.

Now the ball is on Nintendo’s court. It’s entirely up to them to improve their business when their next box comes out so that they can have some 3rd party support back.

      2. EA pulled support before Need for Speed came out. A great late port. EA used the gamepad with great ideas. EA and Nintendo had a disagreement on some things which caused EA to leave. EA had a disagreement with Sega as well. They quit on Sega, Nintendo, and certain genres on PC. It is their choice to do so.

        1. And EA’s choice was the correct one, since the Wii U wouldn’t have been profitable for them. Nintendo doesn’t seem to care much about 3rd parties anymore – they walk their own path, which in itself has its own positives and negatives as well. But I don’t blame EA or other 3rd parties as much as I blame Nintendo for creating an environment on their system that was not conducive or friendly to 3rd parties to make games.

          1. So they should have carbon copied the other systems? That’s bullshit, making games isn’t easy, and it’s not supposed to be, this gen is the first gen where two of the main competitors have had systems so similar in design, so it’s easy to port, even if they didn’t make the “big games” for the Wii u, they should have done smaller ones to get use to the system and maybe build a relationship with the fans and help build the install base, Nintendo can only do so much, they shouldn’t be expected to do everything because I know Sony and Microsoft aren’t.

            1. Uh, yes. That’s the point of being multi-platform. You don’t want to spend time making just one version hugely different from the other.
You can blame 3rd parties all you want, dude, and I don’t know how many times I need to repeat this: NINTENDO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SELLING THEIR SYSTEM. PERIOD.
You can theorize about what a developer “should have done”, but in the end, they know more about what they’re talking about in regards to developing THEIR game for another system than you do. The fact of the matter is that Nintendo has for the longest time not been good at building relationships with 3rd parties, and yes, Sony and Microsoft do a FUCKTON more in that regard, not the least of which is making sure that if they DO have some new gimmicky bullshit (Playstation Move, Kinect, whatever), that they don’t make it required – and we saw how well gamers have supported those. But the other factors, off the top of my head: making sure that their consoles are consistent (PS controller has been the same at its core since PS1), ensuring that consumers will carry over from one generation to the next (Nintendo failed miserably with that since the Wii U was so different from the Wii), and selling their consoles so 3rd parties have a reason to develop for them. In regard to the latter point, Sony and Microsoft did a good amount of work initially with the first console in that regard, so they don’t have to strain themselves with each new generation.

              1. That’s laziness, and in a generation where people are content with playing the same thing over and over (year after year) with minimum changes just goes to show how lazy the developers are, at least Nintendo has the balls to be different and not follow the rest of the companies (be that good or bad) back before gen 7 developers actually took the time to making different games instead of rehashing the same thing over and over, (which is the same for a lot of forms of entertainment this generation of people have). I understand that the game companies are in this to make money, but the developers are being forced to make the same game over, which is eventually gonna lead to third parties taking themselves right out of the equation and indie developers taking over, it’s happened in music, it’s happening to movies, and it’s soon to happen to video games. Nintendo is responsible for selling their systems, but they’re not the only ones responsible, They can only churn out so many games at a time, and third parties are the ones who are suppose to help out by developing exclusive games to bring gamers to those consoles, but for whatever reason, third parties had Nintendos backs at the beginning of its lifecycle only to completely turn around and screw them over. Sure Nintendo has had bad relationships with third parties in the past (snes era back) but how many of those companies still remain? Not many, most of them have not had a chance to work with Nintendo, especially now a days when they are a lot better, that’s why they have so many indies and that’s why nintendos figure-heads have stated that they intend to build great lasting relationships with the new gen of developers.

                1. Developers should have no expectation to make a game different for each console – that’s not lazy, that’s realistic. They simply want to make the best game possible, get it into gamers hands, and sell a lot of it. The fact that the Xbox version of a game isn’t different from the Playstation version doesn’t matter in the slightest for multiplatform games – and the issue of new games in a series not being a huge step forward (Madden, for example) is unrelated. Developers will take chances and make new properties and different games, but that doesn’t make them beholden to gamers to somehow make each version different based on what console it’s going to be on. That’s been the same since the 90s when the main difference between Mortal Kombat on the SNES and Genesis was the amount of blood.
3rd parties will usually sign up initially for a system, but after a while, if the sales suck, they’re obviously not going to keep supporting it. Nintendo, as the creator the Wii U, is directly responsible for selling systems. 3rd parties have absolutely no obligation to them to help sell that system.
And Nintendo continually has said they want to build great relationships with each new console generation, and each time it falls flat. Even with the Wii, the highest selling 3rd party game comes in at 17th – Nintendo has somewhat accepted the fact that people will buy their systems just for Nintendo games – although they need to then fully commit to that and not keep bullshitting us with “we want to build relationships with 3rd parties” every time… – and gamers need to accept that as well. I give Nintendo some props for having the e-shop open to indie devs, but they’re just doing what everyone else is in that regard. And Nintendo has bad relationships with 3rd parties for EVERY generation. It doesn’t matter whether those companies still remain or not, Nintendo’s mantra is consistent throughout.

                  1. I’m not saying make a multiplatform game different, I’m talking about making new games on the system like they did Wii, everyone obviously made money on the Wii because development costs weren’t high for the system, and yes third parties do help sell systems, just look at ps4 and Xbone, they barely had any first party titles the first year and relied on third party support to help sell the system and even so on the Wii, there were third party games selling millions of games on the system. I’m not saying Nintendo hasn’t had a rocky past with developers it’s just a lot of them give Nintendo fans incomplete games while the other systems get full support and then bitch when the game doesn’t sell as much, there are some instances on Nintendo consoles where the is the opposite, but that’s a minority, third parties don’t take risks really at all anymore since they know they an sell the same game for 60+ every year with minimum changes, it’s a vicious cycle, third parties won’t develop on Nintendo consoles, and Nintendo fans won’t buy third parties (personally I do, I have 34 retail games, 20 of which are third party, and quite a few indie games) I’m hoping will change with the NX, (rumored) as there have been a few third parties who have gotten dev kits and have expressed willingness to work on it. Many devs have said Nintendo relationships are a lot better than what they use to be.

Are you sure some don’t just say that because they are afraid Nintendo will screw them over if they talk bad about them?

                      1. Well whatever, we’re just gonna have to agree to disagree we aren’t gonna change each other’s mind, and we’re just gonna wind up rewording what we’ve already said lol. I’m good you’re good, it’s whatever.

                    2. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3 ~*Proud Owner of the great PS4 & the great n3DS! Oh & I guess the dying mediocre Wii U is okay, too!*~

Oh the days when I was just like rjason defending Nintendo. But lesson learned. Don’t defend a company that just doesn’t have your interests in mind.

                      1. Of course, I get tired of every site I see, people just bashing Nintendo, I see it on just about every article I check out and I just get tired of it, they do have my own personal interests at heart, they rarely disappoint me, can’t say the same for others, but i really don’t care about others lol.

                        1. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3 ~*Proud Owner of the great PS4 & the great n3DS! Oh & I guess the dying mediocre Wii U is okay, too!*~

That’s one of the problems with Nintendo. They want to listen to selfish gamers that don’t have their fellow gamers in mind.

“Oh you don’t want online multiplayer but a lot of others do? Okay. We won’t add online multiplayer then because we “care” about U.” “Don’t like voice chat? Okay. We won’t add it. Screw the ones that do want it.”

                          1. Yup cause that’s totally their train of thought. They listen to one whole fan about their entire online infrastructure! Totally agree, you’re super correct!

                          2. Oh and you do know that the reason why Microsoft and Sonys consoles have great online? Maybe because for one customers pay extra for it (which is bs considering how many games only offer online multiplayer) and two they’ve both been in business with computers and that sort of tech for years! While Nintendo is mainly a game company, hopefully since dena have online experience maybe they can help build the NX online.

                            1. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3 ~*Proud Owner of the great PS4 & the great n3DS! Oh & I guess the dying mediocre Wii U is okay, too!*~

Being an owner of a PS4, I can tell you PlayStation Plus, the thing you need to pay for to be able to use online play, isn’t just for online multiplayer but for cloud storage of your save data as well as giving you discounts for certain games & a plethora of other things in PlayStation Store, letting you play certain games for free, etc. Don’t listen to the haters of paying for online because they aren’t very well informed & don’t realize you can pay for an entire year for simply 50 bucks. If you are a true gamer, 50 bucks a year shouldn’t be anything crippling since you’ll get more than your money’s worth if you tend to play games ALOT. With that in mind, if Nintendo did exactly the same thing, I won’t mind paying a low sum of 50 bucks a year to Nintendo.

                            2. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3 ~*Proud Owner of the great PS4 & the great n3DS! Oh & I guess the dying mediocre Wii U is okay, too!*~

But there you go. Now you’re a bit more informed on how paying for online works… on Sony consoles, anyway.

                            3. All in all I’m done, I’m gonna stop following this, I don’t think there’s much left to say except for us to continue bitching at each other.

                            4. And who really even cares I mean, 10 years from now Wii U will be in GameCubes position (to a lesser extent) it’s had pretty great 1st party support, and a few third party gems. I’m sure We can both agree that while Wii u def isn’t nintendos best system, let’s just hope the NX fixes the wrongs of it.

                            5. Specially since I’m just talking about myself personally, I’m not being selfish just contempt at what I’ve got. And I’m sure Sony and Microsoft listen to all of their fans!

                  2. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3 ~*Proud Owner of the great PS4 & the great n3DS! Oh & I guess the dying mediocre Wii U is okay, too!*~

Exactly why I won’t hold their grievances to the Wii U against them anymore as Nintendo are the ones who really screwed the pooch. Can’t wait to buy some of their games for my PS4 when I get the money for them.

                    1. How did they screw the pooch when EA is butthurt over them not using origin, how they have handled things are not acceptable in businesses, employees badmouthing the system on sites which technically they were slandering the system which in turn made others not want to buy it or develop games for it, and the fact that they never had any real intention of supporting the system, you can see it with the type of support they gave them.

          2. Pingback: Game-News: Electronic Arts stellt die Spieleentwicklung für Wii U und PS Vita ein - SHOCK2

          3. If EA waited for consoles to have large install bases, why did they release Wii U games to begin with? Why do they release games on any console when they first come out if all they care about is the install base?
Does EA still make 3DS games, either? That has the biggest install base of any console out at the moment.

            1. There was less risk in developing a game for the PS4 and Xbox One prior to their release as opposed to a new Nintendo console with a brand new controller, since they didn’t know whether the gamepad would be a success like the WiiMote. Looks like they made the right business decision based on that success – or lack thereof.

              1. But they did also release games at the start of the Wii U’s lifespan. The fact is, the games they released for it were ports of older games or Fifa, and while none of them were bad per se, they barely acknowledged their existence. Essentially, they released games on the Wii U, knowing they didn’t want to, didn’t really tell anyone they did, then complained that no-one bought them. EA also threw a hissy-fit when Nintendo said no to their online infrastructure, which is pretty funny.

                1. The main problem is that when you have a completely new controller like the gamepad, you’re in a tricky situation, because Nintendo certainly wants you to create a game that takes advantage of it, but then you waste more time, money, and resources on doing so without knowing if that will pay off. If they were developing for the “Wii 2” that still had motion controls, you might see a different situation because they know that there would most likely be support based on how well the Wii did. And when Nintendo themselves don’t know how to support the system, 3rd parties can only do so much until it becomes too great a risk. And personally, I think the gamepad is a terrible idea, which became a glorified map screen. The best thing about it was the fact that you could play on just the gamepad while someone else watched tv, and they didn’t even push that feature!
Also, maybe Nintendo could have learned a thing or two from EA for having an online infrastructure, given how shitty Nintendo’s has been, and how it still languishes in comparison to, uh, everyone else.

                  1. I agree with you on the gamepad, though I’ve grown to appreciate it for certain games even when it is a map lol. When it was first announced I never thought it would be as game changing or innovative as the Wii remote.

                  2. Nintendo’s online is fine. I can play games online. I can buy games online. It has Miiverse, which I love.
The gamepad, which does add something else for developers to think about, is brilliant. It’s one of the most comfortable controller’s to hold and the touchscreen adds interesting dynamics to a good amount of games. I really like it when it displays a map, its so much more intuitive than pausing the game to look at a map. When I play my PS4, which is a lot, I miss the gamepad and Miiverse.
The only thing Nintendo can do to improve its online offering is to add an ability to send text messages to those on your friend’s list, and to make it a bit easier to play online with friends.

            2. Well I’m glad they did. All I played on my WiiU was MassEffect3, MH3U and ZombiU for nearly two years. (NFSMW was pretty kick ass) Oh, and Splinter Cell Blacklist was Soooo good. Without Ubi and EA, I would have dumped that shit faster than the 3rd parties did.

At least some of you acknowledge Ninte do didn’t do their part. They still fucked up gamepad integration with MK8 and every other game they made. Jeesuzz. 3rd parties at least tried to use the gamepad.

I will give them credit where credit is due. They did try. It was crappy trying most of the time but still trying.

                  lol

          4. Wow, compared to Ubisoft and Capcom (and even Square), that’s the most honest and direct answer ever given. Good for you EA, good for you, at least you don’t try to pull some dumb excuses like other companies.

          5. You heard it here first folks. No EA games on NX until they find a bandwagon to jump on!

“As one of the largest software producers we have all of the manufacturers of equipment coming to us to try to sell us on their equipment and giving us development kits to try to build software for it. So we’ll build software for various ones but we’ll really wait and see how big the market is going to be.”

            1. Yea, cause Platinum games has had so much success “expanding the Wii U hardware market”.

Fact is, video games today can literally cost hundreds of millions of dollars. You can’t expect them to spend that type of money without a return on investments, or just to simply expand the market…

              1. It is their choice as well as consumer choice to support them or not. I know my money is small in grand scheme of things but the lose out on 240 dollars a year from me just on sports titles. First they abandon PC with most sports, then Nintendo. Enough is enough. That 240 goes to other publishers or other industries.

              2. Platinum hardly qualifies as a big publisher. You know, the kinds of companies that gross billions of dollars per year yet refrain from spending a few millions on a version that might, or might not, become profitable.

                1. Platinum is not a publisher at all. They were the developer and Nintendo was the publisher. The statement should have been like Ubisoft attempted and didn’t succeed on the Wii U.

          6. Pingback: EA Talks Wii U Games

          7. I’m not buying this bullshit excuse at all from EA. Plants vs. Zombies would’ve been the perfect game to put on the 3DS and the Wii U but yet they didn’t even bother to try it out. EA never really gave Nintendo platforms a chance except at launch. How did they expect for their games to sell when they sabotaged them from the start with gimped features and poor optimization?

            1. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3 ~*Proud Owner of the great PS4 & the great n3DS! Oh & I guess the dying mediocre Wii U is okay, too!*~

Not to mention selling a single game, which has been out for awhile on other consoles, for 60 bucks while selling that same game, along with two other games, for the same price on other consoles. *cough*MassEffect3*cough*

            2. Ok, so obviously we have split opinions on the whole EA / Ubisoft thing, that’s fine.
I’m just glad it’s not my problem anymore. I’ll be playing Scalebound, am loving Blops3 high-tech story, and fuck-me the games are gorgeous.

Chating with friends and family while gaming. And for you? Less bitching from me, because I am ~thisclose~ to not giving a shit what happens to Nintendo. Fans bitch and get mad when they care, once the critiquing and complaining stops, it just means we don’t care anymore.

I hope Nintendo is around in another 10-20 years making video games, but if not, I know it was their choice.

          8. I can’t believe how much shit is talked about surrounding 3rd parties when Nintendo abandons the WiiU for nearly 1 and a half years, then releases a bunch of gimped, stripped down games and doesn’t come close to using their own fucking gamepad like EA, Ubisoft and Cod (Activision?)

Hypocrites the lot of you. (ok, not all of you)

            1. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3 ~*Proud Owner of the great PS4 & the great n3DS! Oh & I guess the dying mediocre Wii U is okay, too!*~

Well they are all to blame in the end. They all had a hand in the Wii U’s failure. Nintendo for barely supporting it with 1st party titles it’s first year; EA for releasing gimped games, the Mass Effect debacle; Ubishit for releasing gimped and/or glitchy games, holding back a complete game so they can release Rayman Legends on all consoles at the same time because they don’t want to be unfair to other console owners but later do the opposite with Watch Dogs by releasing it on all consoles but the Wii U with the promise of better features using the Gamepad only to release the game with the Gamepad as nothing more than a map when we know Ubishit could have done a hell of a lot better as Assassin’s Creed III showed what Ubisoft could do with the Gamepad. If 3rd parties had released all of the DLC for the games they did release on the Wii U, they might have been able to make a profit off their Wii U games even if the game itself didn’t sell to a whole lot of people. Hell! The only one that did fully support their game on the Wii U was Koei Tecmo with Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper & Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge as they released all of the DLC & they didn’t have many issues with them.

              1. I don’t totally disagree, but from my perspective? Nintendo’s games are gimped as bad or worse than the 3rd party games. That’s where I’m at with all this.

                1. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3 ~*Proud Owner of the great PS4 & the great n3DS! Oh & I guess the dying mediocre Wii U is okay, too!*~

I agree. Pikmin 3 & Nintendo Land lacking online mutliplayer; no voice chat in games like Splatoon & Triforce Heroes where some people can actually get some use out of it a lot better than what they do have for communication in those games; Smash 4 Wii U getting held back by the limitations of Smash 4 3DS (give me the fucking Ice Climbers back, you jackass Sakurai you!); Hyrule Warriors getting ported to the 3DS with new storylines, more characters, & all the Wii U DLC for free; Mario Kart 8 having Battle Mode using nothing but the actual racing courses when they could have done arenas as well to mix things up a bit.

            2. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3 ~*Proud Owner of the great PS4 & the great n3DS! Oh & I guess the dying mediocre Wii U is okay, too!*~

So my anger is directed at everyone because they all fucking failed us.

                1. You seem to care well enough if you’re on here bashing Nintendo, I don’t know what happened to you, I know you’re not a troll cause you’ve been on here since the Aeolus days as have I, (unless someone stole your name) saying that Nintendo has been gimping their games worse than 3rd parties is such a bold faced lie and you know it. They’re the only ones who have kept the system afloat, Ubisoft was good in my book until they started doing stupid ass shit like delaying a finished game during a time when the Wii U desperately needed it, and then making many unnecessary statements about Nintendo, especially when these company’s talk about they want large install bases and don’t even make games for the 3ds when it’s install base is way larger than the rest of the systems.

                  1. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3 ~*Proud Owner of the great PS4 & the great n3DS! Oh & I guess the dying mediocre Wii U is okay, too!*~

Look at my comment agreeing with Jaded’s opinion about Nintendo games being gimped because a few of them WERE gimped, whether people like to admit it or not.

                    1. You’re nitpicking at certain aspects as not all of it is gimping, your comment about hyrule Warriors, while its a very shitty thing they did, that’s not gimping, online play for certain games only applies to certain people, for example, I and the few friends I know who have a Wii U don’t care much for online play, specially if it’s something like Pikmin, I agree with the voice chat, that there is gimping, smash 3ds (which I wish wasn’t made) the Wii U version is still the definitive version, and never have I heard anyone care about the ice climbers as much as I did when they were taken out, I doubt hardware limitations were the true reason, as Rosalina had Luma, and the duck hunt duo. You cannot compare companies deliberately taken out features (sniper elite) for no reason, no DLC (a multitude of games, especially blops 2 after it was touted as the definitive game) delaying a finished game (Rayman) while not doing the same (watch dogs) when the tables were turned. Trilogy editions released for the same price and day as the Wii u “definitive” versions (assassins creed, mass effect), to Nintendo not puting online or certain modes in a game when it was never promised or even hinted to come to the system.

                      1. Not saying I don’t like online play, love it in fps, and racing games, fighters, shooters, etc, it’s just I don’t think all games require it, especially if that’s the only way you can play multiplayer, I don’t sell games so I think of the future when servers eventually get shut down, I’m not gonna be able to access online only features and I don’t like that very much.

                      2. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3 ~*Proud Owner of the great PS4 & the great n3DS! Oh & I guess the dying mediocre Wii U is okay, too!*~

Thank you for reminding me that they didn’t add online multiplayer to Hyrule Warriors, either. I’m so sick of Nintendo catering to one little spectrum of their fanbase when there is another side that would like online multiplayer. Nintendo can do both online & local multiplayer if they wanted to but for some reason, they still seem to be trying to fight online functionalities. Sure they are slowly getting over their dislike of it but they still have a ways to go.

                        1. They’re not catering to any demographic, online just isn’t in their thoughts for every damn game, just like every game shouldn’t have dlc, nor amiibo, I would always much rather have local multiplayer than online, again not saying I don’t like online, but certain games are just better when they’re played locally, and I’m expecting them to do paid online next gen just like the other companies, so I would rather everything not be online.

                          1. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3 ~*Proud Owner of the great PS4 & the great n3DS! Oh & I guess the dying mediocre Wii U is okay, too!*~

Well if they are going to add multiplayer in a game, they damn well better include online as well as local multiplayer. Time to stop making games to their liking & make them to their consumers liking which involves making online & local multiplayer for their games when they have an idea for multiplayer in a game because this is the age of the internet & online features, not the 80s or 90s. Nothing destroys a business faster than an owner that only does what HE wants & ignores what a big half of his CUSTOMERS want and one half of Nintendo’s customers want online multiplayer in games that have multiplayer. Hyrule Warriors, Nintendo Land, & Pikmin 3 had multiplayer so it should have had online as well as local. Same with Star Fox Zero. If it has local multiplayer, it damn well better have online too.

                            1. I agree, but I really think that party games like Mario party Nintendo land etc are gunner locally than online, it’s different than playing an fps or something.

                  2. No. It’s not a lie. Can I play Nintendo land with anyone? No. Can I voice chat with anyone? No. Did nintendo use their own fucking gamepad? NO.

In CoD, Me and a friend could each have our own screen. In Mario cart???? The gamepad was a fucking HORN.

In Zombie U, my gamepad was a book bag. In every other Nintendo game? If lucky, it allowed off screen play or was a map.

Nintendo gimped the shit out of their games with shitty online, no voice chat, horrible use of their gamepad… God, do they even care? No. They don’t.

I used to sit and play Nintendo games with my family, now we have to get on a fucking xBox if we want to game and talk and catch up. Nintendo used to give us that, now they don’t. I can’t even play splatoon with my brother if I have him over. It’s ONE PLAYER.

So we play black ops 3 on the Xbox1, loop my dad in and all play together. Because the wiiu is worthless. And we have no fucking choice. If we want to game and hangout… We can’t use the WiiU. Because it’s weak? Nope. Because the games are gimped to hell and back amd don’t have one fucking modern feature to make them worth a damn.

                    1. PS. We Live sitting around, playing Perfect dark and Bad Fur day on the Fucking XboxOne, because we can’t use Nintendo hardware anymore.

Everything Nintendo was to us, isn’t Nintendo anymore. And I hate it.

                      1. Dude you’re such a liar, Mario kart lets you have a map or the horn or you can have one play on gamepad while the tv has the other player, splatoon has offline multiplayer not the same as online, there are plenty of Nintendo games that used it more than a map, Zelda ww HD, splatoon, Mario kart, game and wario, Wii sports HD, Kirby, Wii fit, Wii play, ac amiibo whatever, etc etc, I don’t go on to sites just to hate on other systems and I’m tired of seeing people do that to Nintendo, no matter what the fuck they do, they are always the bad guy, idc, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed mine since launch, and will continue to enjoy, sure they have their problems But so does every other fucking gaming company.

EA is a mixed bag. They’ve got great games with them but they always try to stuff DLC and microtransactions into every game that comes out. I love NFS but I heard it was online only which is incredibly stupid. They ruined one of my favorite game franchises. Only thing I really play from them nowadays is The Sims. Might try Mass Effect and Mirror’s Edge, but overall, I just kinda avoid most of their games.

They’d need to scale that down or make a different game for it to work on that system.
