Platinum Games Says Krystal Won’t Feature In Star Fox Zero

Platinum Games has confirmed that Krystal from Star Fox Adventures on the GameCube won’t be making an appearance in Star Fox Zero on Wii U. The news was confirmed via Platinum Games Yusuke Hashimoto who is co producing the delayed project. It’s not a new tweet, but it is one that has only recently been picked up. Star Fox Zero is arriving exclusively on Wii U in April 2016.

        >>>If this so called “Starfox fanbase” are in it for Krystal as their first priority, then they are not real fans to begin with>>>

            >>>Well they are superficial and only care about minor things that doesn’t make the games at all>>>

      1. The WiiU can-NOT be exposed to anything even slightly sexual. Hence, no Krystal.
Remember whrn Bayonetta released, and half of the world rioted and caught buildings on fire and hung people over bridges?
We cannot have that kind of a near-extinction event again.
Once again, the day is saved!

Don’t go as far as I have, though. Otherwise, you’ll have a few calling you a whiner, a troll, a kid, a liberal, etc Of course, the liberal part is true about me. But I’d rather be a liberal “kid” than a stuck up, close minded, asshole-ish, right wing republicunt that bends over for companies.

            1. Perhaps it’s best we leave politics out entirely- they’re sure to be the death of everything at the current rate.

Anyway, yes, Ridley’s built up quite the following of Negative-Nancy accusers, even though he has valid points.

    1. What you said in response to this is BS because this upcoming game still has Fox, Wolf, Falco, and what not. It just so happens these three males are major targets by actual furries. There’s a lot of Fox, Wolf, and Falco yaoi ship that goes on in the furry world. Stop acting like it’s all just one character (Krystal).

        Good, and very true, point!

In Sakurais’ own words when giving us the bullshit excuse as to why he wasn’t adding the Ice Climbers into Smash 4 when people were pissed about his earlier reason that they’d be too hard to implement into Smash 4 3DS to calm them down which only resulted in pissing them off even more: she’s not relevant enough right now. Yeah, I know. It’s bullshit since he threw R.O.B., Duck Hunt, & Mr Game & Watch into the game who haven’t been relevant for many, many years, but this is Sakurai we’re talking about here.

        1. The relevancy had to do with the series entirely, Ice Climbers while retro was no where as popular as what you listed. Star Fox is still alive and thus isnt stopping Krystal regardless of Zero and all, you might as well argue this about King K Rool since he hasnt shown up in DKC since 64 on toip of retro not wanting to use him at all, but guess what that isnt stopping his supporters, so what makes it so different about her?

          1. You’re right in that Ice Climbers can’t match R.O.B. or Duck Hunt in legacy or popularity, but after being in two games, whether you liked their inclusion or not, it’s very clear that Smash is missing something special without them around.

I for one would love for them to return, even if it means revamping their play style to being one character and their 8 color palettes are 4 Popo and 4 Nana.

I’m not against them getting added & in fact am all for their inclusion, along with Ridley. I’m just speaking in terms of excuses that Sakurai will try to use if he has no intention of adding these characters into the game as playable. After all, Sakurai is very good at trolling people & coming up with bogus excuses for why he won’t do this or won’t do that. Whether he does it to be malicious or to just be funny in an attempt to stall for more time to do something his fans really want, I don’t really know.

It still looks like Star Fox 64 HD but with some new vehicles and a few new stages thrown in. And voila! You have yourself a reimagining!

        1. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3 ~*Proud Owner of the great PS4 & the great n3DS! Oh & I guess the dying mediocre Wii U is okay, too!*~

Of course it’s not a remake. It’s a reboot which is a reimagining of Star Fox 64 which itself was a reimagining of the original Star Fox. So yes. In a way, it IS Star Fox 64 HD with new vehicles & stages. But there is nothing wrong with that. No where in my comment did I ever say it was a bad thing. But I don’t need to prove my point any further because of that second part of your comment. Whiny & ignorant!? They are MY opinions. Don’t like it? Fuck you, fanbitch! I have no time for trash like you that dare whine about & insult my opinions! So kindly take your own opinions & FUCK OFF!

If you aren’t trying to be an asshole trying to de-legitimize my opinions, I apologize for my outburst at the end of my comment.

      1. Adventures was NOT bad; it was just a Zelda game in a Star Fox skin. Sure, it’s the black sheep of the SF series, but being different from a previous installment does not a bad game make.

…Unless it’s Metroid Prime: Federation Force in its current form- that has no saving grace at this point in time.

    1. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3 ~*Proud Owner of the great PS4 & the great n3DS! Oh & I guess the dying mediocre Wii U is okay, too!*~

Screw you! Krystal is awesome! It’s not her fault Miyamoto forced the developers of Dinosaur Planet to remake it into a Star Fox title with Krystal being the damsel-in-distress and Fox being the man that will save the helpless woman! Oh wait…? You were only joking? My bad. xP

  1. Do we know yet if this game is actually a ‘new’ story or just a re-imagine / re-master? I haven’t been jumping on the news, but I kind of got the impression it’s just an updated version of the original, so Fox and his crew, Andross, maybe Wolf and mentions of Fox’ dad.

    1. They said it’s not a part of the canon, nore story. Think of it as a completely separate game series altogether, but with the same characters. An “alternate Universe” sort of thing if you will.

        1. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3 ~*Proud Owner of the great PS4 & the great n3DS! Oh & I guess the dying mediocre Wii U is okay, too!*~

I miss Tenchi even though I hate the damn cliffhangers!

    2. Miyamoto said Starfox Zero is not a sequel or a remake, it’s a reboot, talking the best parts of Starfox, Starfox 2 (with the Walker), Starfox 64 and Starfox Assault. It’s a reboot of the franchise.

  2. Not surprised since she isn’t really a “Canon” character. And Starfox Zero is rebooting the franchise, plus Fox doesn’t need a love interest to distract him, then she gets captured and “HEY I GOTTA GO SAVE MY LOVE” blah blah, don’t need that shit.

          1. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3 ~*Proud Owner of the great PS4 & the great n3DS! Oh & I guess the dying mediocre Wii U is okay, too!*~

Most likely since that’s the only female in Star Fox 64. Now that I think about it, that’s pretty fucked up she’s the only chick in the game. Same with Star Wars & there being only two black guys in the whole Star Wars galaxy. But that’s for another time & place. lol

              1. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3 ~*Proud Owner of the great PS4 & the great n3DS! Oh & I guess the dying mediocre Wii U is okay, too!*~

                xD True. So very true.

              2. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3 ~*Proud Owner of the great PS4 & the great n3DS! Oh & I guess the dying mediocre Wii U is okay, too!*~

But hey! Boyega explains a lot why there aren’t many black people! They are probably all stormtroopers because we know how some white people think they are too good for jobs like being a stormtrooper. That’s probably where all the mexicans, chinese, japanese, etc are at, too. Okay. I’ll stop now. This comment is bordering on racism.

          2. Hey, Ace. Provide a link where Nintendo states: “She isn’t canon.” Otherwise, stop acting like you know everything. SF64, Adventures, and Assault are Star Fox canon. We’ve been through this on YouTube comments. You’re saying the same thing here.

              1. “Star Wolf rises! Across Lylat, people talk of Wolf O’Donnell and his courageous crew. But they are less kind to Krystal, feeling that she was wrong to abandon Star Fox. But she ignores the talk and proceeds with her new life as a member of Star Wolf. Eventually, the slings and arrows of the populace are too much to bear. They begin to hiss as she walks by, and name her traitor to her face. She is alone… and hated. She pulls away from Star Wolf and tries to find meaning in this new, cruel world. Haunted by her past, Krystal abandons her life and flees to a distant galaxy. Changing her name to Kursed, she survives by collecting bounties on the worst scum in the galaxy. Years later, she runs into Fox during a job on planet Kew… He does not recognize her.”

                1. Yeeeaaaah, that ending was one of the worst, if not THE worst, though I thought the G-Zero racing ending was so out of place in general.

I liked how one ending foreshadowed Dash becoming a new Andross, though.

                    1. That’s true, if nothing else, it was a poke at James in F-Zero.

I don’t know, when Command first came out, I thought it was the best SF since 64. Then again, I was a mid-teenager who bought it on launch.

Playing it again years later… I wonder how I thought this game was the shit- the game had so many plot holes and contradictions from past games, which were hardly ever mentioned at all (Adventures and Assault were mentioned a grand total of once each in the entire game) and established confusing new plot elements or alluded to events we never saw (Slippy: “How’s the Cloud Runner treating you, Krystal?” Krystal: “Well, I never thought I’d fly her again…” Like when the hell did she first pilot that thing? This is the first time we see it.) There’s also no explanation as to how James just shows up in the last mission of one story branch or why no one, not even Fox, notices he has appeared.

Don’t get me wrong, I have fond memories of the game, but looking back, it isn’t as great as my old self made it out to be.

      1. this is my favorite ending

“Star Wolf rises! Across Lylat, people talk of Wolf O’Donnell and his courageous crew. But they are less kind to Krystal, feeling that she was wrong to abandon Star Fox. Damn it! I was hoping she’d get a cameo in the game that would lead to a spinoff game that would be what Star Fox Adventures was originally meant to be: Dinosaur Planet!

It’s sad that Krystal gets so much undeserved hate. It’s not her fault Miyamoto told them to turn Dinosaur Planet into a Star Fox game & thus forever curse the original canon of Star Fox thus resulting in this reboot.

Give Platinum Games the reigns to a Star Fox Adventures reimagining where Krystal is the hero & Fox is the “damsel” in distress as Dinosaur Planet SHOULD have been! Nothing wrong at all with a hero of another story needing saving as Marvel, DC, Hollywood, etc do it all the god damn time!

    1. Star Fox was doomed even before Adventures even happened, you just didn’t realize it. The genre it is, is what doomed the series because it died off completely years after 64s original release, honestly name me at least ten rail shooters that came out recently that did as well as Star Fox, you seriously cant. To add, Adventures did nothing wrong much like Zelda II did nothing wrong, and many bash that game for being so different too.

For the record, 643D sold horrendously compared to its original release by the way, by my guess Zero will do much worse.

      1. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3 ~*Proud Owner of the great PS4 & the great n3DS! Oh & I guess the dying mediocre Wii U is okay, too!*~

Star Fox 64 3D would have probably done better if the idiots at Nintendo had made the multiplayer local AND online. Sure it might not have done ALOT better but least it would have been better than what it did sell for.

    1. I think this is more of a case of her inclusion being completely arbitrary.

Seriously, from what angle would her appearance in SFZ mean anything? If SF Adventures was remade and put her into the spotlight like Rare originally intended, that’s one thing (and a good one at that), but her showing up here just seems very unreasonable.

      1. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3 ~*Proud Owner of the great PS4 & the great n3DS! Oh & I guess the dying mediocre Wii U is okay, too!*~

That’s why I said a cameo at the end of the game with Krystal would be nice. She could pop up at the end of a post credits cutscene where Fox is investigating a signal on another planet at some kind of temple where he gets captured & ends with Krystal arriving at the temple just as he’s imprisoned.

        1. And this is where she introduces herself and tells Fox “I summoned you here- I’d like to talk to you about the Avengers Initiative…”

Nah, just kidding about that part, but it would set up a sequel quite nicely. They’d HAVE to do it if they did this, though…

          1. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3 ~*Proud Owner of the great PS4 & the great n3DS! Oh & I guess the dying mediocre Wii U is okay, too!*~

More like a nice little spin-off. A sequel with Krystal as the hero using the gameplay of Star Fox Adventures will just piss people off.

          2. Rogue Master XenoRidley X3 ~*Proud Owner of the great PS4 & the great n3DS! Oh & I guess the dying mediocre Wii U is okay, too!*~

Oh & nice job with the Marvel Cinematic Universe reference. >.<

  4. Yet another example of Nintendo forcing a studio to not use a character because they don’t like them. It’s always a Rare character. First K. Rool, now Krystal.

Stuff like this really bugs me and kinda of rubs me the wrong way.

    1. Or how Minamoto felt that Wario and Daisy can’t be in Mario platformers because of differing art styles. Both him and Tezuka were always super biased against the Super Mario Land (and Wario Land) games to begin with.

      1. And yet Wario was in Super Mario 64 DS and has his own line of platformers.

I could easily see Daisy having her own platforming game built around parkour concepts to reflect her tomboyish personality. Hell, if it was better than a certain blue hedgehog’s recent attempt at parkour platforming, I’d buy it.

        1. You do have a point about Wario with SM64, though this interview on the other hand is fairly recent and it talked specifically about the two appearing in a 2D sidescrollers like New Super Mario Bros. Though recent news about scrapped content (especially in New Super Mario Bros. 2) shows that they are lightening up a little towards the fat man.

T’s a shame the same can’t be said for a certain princess and she was obviously left out of Super Mario Maker along with anything relating to the first SML.

          1. True, Daisy was entirely left out of SMM, she should have at least been a costume and replaced one of the many AC characters (seriously, there were too many).

Before she gets her own game though, I want one for Waluigi- he can swim in midair and I want a damn good explanation for that.

  5. Somewhere out on the internet, the Wolf x Fox and Falco x Fox shippers are cheering while feasting on the tears of Krystal fanboys.

Not like I would want to become a dirty shipper or like the idea of becoming as cancerous as them.

  6. Krystal doesn’t appear in Smash Bros and now doesn’t appear in her OWN franchised game. :,(

Nintendo no love her… but we all love her…

  7. HollowGrapeJ (A.K.A. Shampoo- Destroyer Of Girl Type Ranma & Akane Tendo And Soon To Be Married Wife Of Boy Type Ranma Saotome Of The Anything Goes Martial Arts School)

How surprising. Didn’t see this coming. At all.
