DigiTimes Rumour: NX To Enter Mass Production At End Of First Quarter 2016

DigiTimes which has been a good source of news in the past has stated that Nintendo’s next platform, which is titled NX, will enter mass production at the end of the first quarter next year. The publication also reports that the supply chain expects the Nintendo NX to achieve 10-12 million unit shipments in 2016. DigiTimes also says that Nintendo is targeting to ship 20 million units in 2016.

The new console is estimated to enter mass shipments in the second quarter. In addition to Foxconn, suppliers such as Foxconn Technology, Macronix, Pixart Imaging, Coxon Precise Industrial, Nishoku Technology, Delta Technology, Lingsen Precision Industries and Jentech will also supply components for the device.

    1. I do believe that the official statement talking about new things by Nintendo at the Game Awards specifically said no NX. Anyway, I don’t care when the NX is released or officially announced honestly, as long as it will hold up in the future with other Gen 9 consoles.

      1. I think it’ll be based on when Zelda U is done, because that’s all they really need to launch to a decent start – and then as long as they follow through with some great games for the holiday season.

        1. To be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if Zelda U had been ready for a while now and they’re just postponing its release to force a Twilight Princess yet again. I don’t buy Aonuma’s excuse of going back to the game to implement new ideas.

          1. The extra time is (imo) most definitely to make it ready for the NX. The only other logical reason is that it wasn’t ready yet for the Wii U, but given that it’s been in development for close to 4 years now and the Wii U needs all the help it can get, and with more rumors coming out regarding the NX and how its (theorized) release date is in 2016, it’s obviously more believable that they’re launching it with the NX.

            1. Yeah, you can’t really blame people for believing that. If that’s the case, I’m curious about which will be considered the definitive version. If the NX isn’t gamepad compatible, I can’t see how it would be superior unless the game gets a major upgrade to run take advantage of the (theoretical) capabilities of the hardware.

            2. Twilight Princess was in development for five years, Skyward Sword was in development for five years, so yeah, there goes that. With this becoming the biggest Zelda game ever and with the Game Awards trailer back then still looking quite unfinished, ugly and empty, I’d say it’s more than believable they still have/had a lot of work to do on the game. Big games like that just tend to have long development times.

            1. Companies will do whatever they feel will get them the most money. Taking into account that Nintendo seems to be almost done with Wii U, I wouldn’t be that surprised. But yes, it was not to be taken seriously.

*points at Ubisoft which did just that with Watch Dogs* lol

Damn it! I forgot to mention Rayman Legends, too!

Of course! It’s from the best fucking scene in Ghost Rider! lol

        2. Zelda U is Wii U exclusive, accept that and move on. Miyamoto stated the next main Mario game will be waiting on the next platform, so you get a main Mario game at the launch of NX.

          1. I still stand by what I said. April may seem a bit early to begin, but it’s not entirely unrealistic – especially given how, again, Nintendo doesn’t care much about 3rd parties these days, so they march to the beat of their own drum. Regardless, a Fall 2016 release for the holidays would be most idealistic, as it would give any 3rd parties roughly a year to work with the dev kits.

            1. A year is not long enough. They have to correspond back and forth with nintendo with issues they are having and then they must wait for response. There is always issues that will occur. It is not logical and not advised to attempt to move that fast.

              1. Hokay. I think it’s illogical to go slow like in years before, but it’s simply not realistic to do that these days. And again, Nintendo will do what Nintendo does regardless of whether 3rd parties are ready.
Agree to disagree, so we’ll see who’s right come holiday 2016.

                1. That is not going slow that is QA. You want to send out a product with less issues as possible. You can only do that with time and input.

                  1. Being in QA, I’m fully aware of the time needed. I also know that Nintendo releasing the NX near the end of 2016 isn’t the same as the console being ready for 3rd parties to get a decent game on in time. It may not be the best decision, but it’s certainly not unrealistic – but I think you underestimate how far along Nintendo is on the NX and how much information devs are given with the SDKs. Sony started shipping dev kits out in 2013. And since they’ve been working on the console since 2011, Nintendo will (hopefully, given the launch disaster of the Wii U), launch games that work well. They don’t necessarily need to rely on 3rd party games at launch, but I don’t doubt that some 3rd parties could get a game ready for launch.

                    1. As you said we will see. A 2016 launch NX will be the first day 1 console I will not buy. It will just be a buggy mess. Wii U issues were bad enough but that wasn’t ready for launch either.

                    2. Yeah they need to really work R&D and not rush nothing. Back in 2002 Ford had the Explorer and because they were trying to rush the SUV to compete with the Trail Blazer, 4 runner, Grand Cherokee, the wheelbases were too small for the wheels. Causing a fire. Firestone was the blame at first but in the long run it was Ford. So it’s better not to rush R&D. Nintendo also needs to be thinking about power while the NX is in the womb.

                    3. You really think Nintendo will gain 3rd parties back don’t you? How sad. Denial is a powerful thing. As someone who has gamed since the NES, I’ve seen how Nintendo has went, they lost 3rd parties since the N64, they will NEVER ALL COME BACK.

                    1. Not all of nintendo launches have been that way. GameCube, Wii, N64, and super nintendo were not rushed products. Wii U and NE were rushed products.

                2. I hope nintendo isn’t beating to its own drums again. It’s awesome that they push the envelope, but they need 3rd party support. Wii U has the best IP games this gen IMO, but the lack of 3rd party support is a big reason why they are in their current situation.

If they can’t learn from their own mistake, then NX is following same fate as Wii U.

Really hope the new president sets the ship right.

                  1. This is what people are not realizing. It is not up to nintendo to get EA, activision, bethesda, take 2, warner bros, or any other big name 3rd party put want to put out there. Nintendo can have a PS4 with a Nintendo logo and that is not what will bring back 3rd parties. Only thing that will bring back 3rd parties is giving them money. Something nintendo will not do nor should they do.

              2. That’s good because you know how stupid Nintendo is sometimes when they move fast never thinking about rivals and how powerful competition can be, and not thinking of online and not thinking of advertising for the NBA and NFL games. Also they need to determine the ideal power the NX needs and not just make it slightly more powerful than the competition. That didn’t work. They were also stupid in developing that Ultra Mario power tennis when it was in R&D.

      1. It’s good to see I’m not the only one who believes the NX won’t debut next year. And besides, I want to play Pikmin 4 and I’m not ready to upgrade to another system just to play that game.

        1. Miyamoto said Pikmin 4 is nearing completion…the NX isn’t finalized yet, Miyamoto stated before Iwata passed, that he wasn’t working on NX AT ALL and he was content with Wii U. Pikmin 4 will likely release next year for as a Wii U exclusive.

          1. I’m unsure of the landscape of the 3ds, but isn’t it doing well with lots of good games coming in 2016 (Fates, bravely second, dragon quest, that final fantasy explorers, and a hard maybe on the MH cross announcement).

If the handheld comes in 2016, I would be ecstatic cause the 3ds price would drop and and I can finally get one.

      2. Agreed. If it comes out 2017 I would buy it day 1. If it’s 2016, I’ll let it simmer for a year and see if there’s empty promises.

Also, if we look at nintendo’s track record, they have yet to release a console the same year as E3 announcement. Exe. Wii U was initially announced in press conference in 2010 (similar to the way NX was announced this year), then E3 prototype in 2011 and not till Nov 2012 was it finally available in US). Same thing is said for Gamecube and Wii (announced 2 years prior, then official prototype E3 a year later, finally available in store the year after.

    1. Yeah, let’s release a console out of nowhere, with third parties STILL JUST CONSIDERING developing for it. of course it wouldn’t be outdated again and a failure even worse than the Wii U.

      1. They’re not just “releasing it out of nowhere”, and dev kits have already gone out. The time of announcing a console and then releasing it a year or more down the line is hugely outdated. In the age of social media and new tech arriving all the time, it’s completely unrealistic to do that. It’s now about announcing the details behind it, and then 6-8 months later you see it arrive on shelves. Clearly you 1) haven’t been following tech trends in the video game industry and 2) haven’t been keeping up on the NX news. Game companies begin development on their next console, even in the earliest stages, incredibly soon after the current console is released – they have to, since it requires that amount of time.
And let’s be even more honest with ourselves here – even though I’m hoping 3rd parties finally come back to Nintendo, if it didn’t happen (which given Nintendo’s relationship with 3rd parties and how they develop bullshit gimmicks for their consoles), they’ve gotten to the point where they just don’t seem to give a damn – they’ll release the console on their terms with their games. A Nintendo console is bought for Nintendo games these days. Period. 3rd party support would be nice, but to use it as a reason why the NX won’t come next year? Ridiculous.

        1. Many different version of dev kits go out. We have only heard of the first version. Normally when it’s at version 5 you will know about time they will be ready to launch. There is no way the NX can be mass produce in 1st quarter of 2016 when dev kits are nowhere close to be finalized. If it is ready that quick then that will be a buggy system. Then you expect games to be ready in that short time. They will be a buggy mess. People need to get 2016 out of their mind unless it is for the handheld. There will be no new nintendo home console in 2016.

            1. Other than no games I agree. I had plenty of games to play. I held of on some 360 and PS3 games to get it on the wii u. No system has no games. They can have no games that interest you but there are games. PS4 and Xbox One still don’t have but one game a piece that interest me but I won’t say they have no games. I’m including 3rd party games.

        2. Companies have always started on their next console once a console is released that is not new news or a new trend.

          1. Actually, they start to develop it’s next console as soon as the development of the console to be released is completed, they don’t even wait the release. Obviously there are numerous changes on the course of development, Nintendo was talking about a hybrid console before the Wii U reveal.
            Sorry about my poor English

            1. That is true. Sometimes ideas don’t work or the the technology not ready for some ideas so they implement it on the next hardware.

        3. Your points are only valid with stupid shit like Smartphones and Ipads where ever 6 months a new version comes out. A dedicated game console takes 5-6 years to make. Then you reveal it and hype it and sell it. That’s how it’s always been and always will be.

          1. 1. No shit, sherlock. Your analogy to smartphones isn’t accurate, because I’m not talking about that sort of comparison with consoles. The time between ANNOUNCEMENT and RELEASE of ONE console being 6-10 months is not the same as releasing a new smartphone every 6-10 months. Get it?
            2. A game console does indeed take a good amount of time to make. The Wii U began development in 2008. The NX has been in development since 2011/2012. 4 years of development is not unrealistic at all. Nice try.

    1. It’s not so unrealistic depending on if they have the right games. When (not if) they have Zelda U has a launch title for the NX alongside a smaller release on the Wii U, it could easily get to 20 million units – and also note that “units shipped” does not equal “units sold”. The former is dependent solely on Nintendo’s production capabilities.

      1. 20 million units is the double the sales of the Wii U. PS4 is at 30 million after 2 years for example.

Unless it’s a pretty cheap handheld, that’s impossible.

  1. Since there are a lot of rumors of NX being a family of systems, 20 million in the first few quarters probably means they are releasing a new handheld NX first, and maybe the home console one later, or both at the same time.

    1. Like the DS third pillar and the GameBoy Advance? I doubt that Nintendo is going to extend the life of the Wii U past the minimum of when they’re able to release the NX. I just hope that they don’t release it with little to no really awesome games at launch like the Wii U. Even if Zelda U is ported to the NX like Twilight Princess to the Wii, it would still be better… But they still need something other than Zelda to go along with Zelda U if they do. Nintendo has a habit of pairing a game with their brand new home console that shows off what the system can do. Wii Sports was ingenious for the Wii, but only because the Wii was more so of a casual marketed console and it caught its audience there with the people who were attracted to the new innovation that Nintendo attempted (and succeeded) with motion controls. I somewhat hope that Nintendo will realize that it’s not much use to market towards casual gamers with controller innovations for home or portable consoles anymore, as they’ve almost all moved on to smartphone gaming. However, what Nintendo really needs is to make sure that they don’t fall flat on their face and let the NX get a bad reputation before release, make sure that they have two to three system sellers at launch, and market the crap out of it.

        1. Pretty shitty year as honestly, I’m still hanging in there. BTW I bought Call of Duty, never playing that ever again. You?

          1. Ah I’m sorry to hear that. 2016 will be a better year I’m sure if that. And nice! I see you got battlefront as well?

            1. Thank you. I don’t know why but Black Ops 3 really bores me, I can’t play more than two matches without getting tired of it. As for battlefront… I freaking love that game (not as much as destiny though :P). Hero hunt and villains vs. Hero’s are my favorite modes; walker assault is getting there.

              1. I only play Black ops 3 when my buddies come over hehe :p and oooh I want Battlefront!! I never did get destiny whoops :D

                1. Lol that’s the only reason why I got Black ops. Not going to lie
I had a blast playing with my friends in custom matches and I love zombies. However I kinda just neglected it. Plus I’ve been investing more time in smash bros haha

                  1. I haven’t touched my Wii U in a month :( I’m a horrible Nintendo fan D:
I hope nobody brutally murders me after I say this but I kindaaaa sortaaa wish there were Nintendo games on the PS4 hehehe

                    1. Oh trust me I wish smash was on PS4 since that’s the only game I play on my Wii U. Just imagine how perfect would it be man!

                    2. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!} says:

If the NX doesn’t fix the mistakes of the Gamecube, Wii, & Wii U, I’m sadly gonna start kindaaa sortaaa wishing that myself. @.@

                    3. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!} says:

And I freaking HATE thinking that!

  2. Let’s put this in perspective, alleged dev kits were giving to developers. Dev kits go through 5 to 6 transformations. How will they mass produce in 1st quarter of 2016 if they are not even close to finalizing the dev kits. There are rumors and then there is this. I’m sick of the NX and I don’t know what it is.

    1. If you’re sick of the NX now, wait until pre-E3 2016, then you’ll know true pain. The media is going to explode between fake leaks, rumors and speculation.

    2. Unless Nintendo has suddenly started to care about 3rd parties doing well on their consoles, which obviously wasn’t the case with N64, GCN, Wii or Wii U, you sorely underestimate Nintendo with what they will do to make sure THEY succeed even if that means everyone else on their console fails. At the end of the day, Nintendo is trying to compete with other games on their consoles as their main concern is themselves.

    1. Hate to say it… But I agree with you. Everyone will be all happy and think of it as the savior of Nintendo.

Then when someone finds a flaw bash it and shun it as done to wii u. What makes you think people will drive to the nx after the wii u.

Nintendo said wii u would get third party. It did but with cheap games others already had. What makes you think they can support a hybrid console when they can barely support two?

      1. ||My consociates are making sure the Xbot faction and the Sony faction meets the same fate……

                  1. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!} says:

Got bored of playing devil’s advocate to Nintendo maybe? :o Just my guess.

                    1. >>>Well no Xbots around right now, I’ve been eliminating them all>>>

      1. ||Steam is of no concern of mine but even then, they are far superior to you flawed creations……

    1. And even if they fully announced and showed the NX at E3, that doesn’t negate a holiday 2016 release. Both the 360 and Xbone were announced in May and then released in November of 2005 and 2013, respectively. The PS4 had a bit more time between the unveiling and release (about 9 months), but that’s still a short amount of time in comparison to how long it used to take consoles to be released. Nintendo has been behind the times though, but with the NX I think they’ll try to mirror them when it comes to announcement and release of new consoles.

      1. But Nintendo didn’t make the damn 360. They usually make their big announcement at E3 now. Nobody knows exactly when it will happen. I admit. Even I don’t but I still think it’s too soon. They wanna cash in on the Wii U until Zelda is out.

        1. “But Nintendo didn’t make the damn 360”

Thank you Captain Obvious. But E3 has also been held in late May as well as June. A couple weeks difference doesn’t matter. Regardless, the point is that Nintendo needs to get with the times if they want to keep up – they’re notorious for not doing so in the past (online, HD, take your pick). And even if it IS at E3, a holiday 2016 release isn’t unrealistic at all.
And for goodness sake, the Wii U is dying. They may make some buck with Zelda just on the Wii U, but it would make far more money if released on a system that actually has support for it and that isn’t at the end of its life cycle. The Wii U had a short lifespan, and not short enough. It was a failed experiment. Nintendo is moving on, and I have no doubt in my mind that Zelda U will be a double release on the Wii U and NX, just like Twilight Princess was on the GC and Wii. Mark my words, I’ll be proven right next year.

            1. In the long term, Nintendo is now focused on the NX and making that successful, while with the Wii U they’re keeping on life support. Not sure what sort of specific answer you’re looking for other than “the NX is their next console and the Wii U is dying”.

              1. Wii U has support. NX has no support as it has not been placed to market yet. So NX cannot have more support than Wii U at this time.

                1. I’m not talking about support in that regard. Obviously with the Wii U on the market there’s more “support” technically, but Nintendo is focusing their time and money into the NX instead, so the majority of their resources at this time are directed at the NX – otherwise we’d see more games for the Wii U, but that ship sailed long ago. They’re content with releasing a game or two every so often to keep it afloat a while longer before the NX comes out, which I find to be some pretty pathetic support. Let’s not focus on semantics here, though. The fact that the NX isn’t even on the market yet has no basis for showing any lack of support – in fact, due to the Wii U coming to the end of its life cycle and given how early a company begins working on their next console, it’s quite the opposite. Thus, I’d say that the amount of time, energy, and money that is going into the NX right now is more than what is being spent on the Wii U currently.

                  1. Wii u is in the middle of its life cycle. It is just starting it’s 3rd year. You have no proof that they are not working on Wii u games or that they are working on Wii u games.

                    1. I speaking facts and you speaking speculation. Who exactly is the naive and unrealistic one?

                    2. Your “facts” don’t take into account history (Nintendo is going to support the Wii U after NX is released, just like when they added the DS as the third pillar to not compete with GBA…oh wait) evolving tech trends (time between console announcement and release has shortened, and companies need to jump on things faster…one of the reasons the gamepad, Nintendo’s attempt to jump on the “iPad” bandwagon” failed), and the actual business of video games(Wii U has disappointing, mediocre sales and very little support in terms of future releases even from Nintendo themselves – so unless they come out and announce a wealth of games to be released in the 2nd half of 2016, which they won’t, it’ll just again prove my point), while my speculation does – and it makes a hell of a lot more sense than what you’re spouting. For Nintendo to actually continue with the Wii U and make games as if it’s only halfway through it’s life cycle would be a massive mistake. Nintendo knows this, and it’s why they’re beginning to focus on the NX. Wii U may be in it’s 3rd year, but that doesn’t mean it’s entering into its mid cycle. If a console underperforms, it’s foolish to keep propping it up. With the announcement of the NX, the dev kits being sent out, the focus on mobile gaming, the delay of Zelda, and the lack of Wii U games (seriously dude, Nintendo keeps things close to the table when they announce games for future release, but it’s completely ridiculous and unbelievable that they wouldn’t try to at least get people excited about the console if they actually were planning on supporting it further…which they aren’t, which is why 2016 will be an incredibly dry year for Wii U games), it’s pretty obvious what is happening. You’re just too delusional to actually see it. Open your eyes and wake up to reality.

                    3. Let me quickly address this. Gamepad was in development before the iPad boom happen. Now if you said the iPhone boom then I could see your point. GameCube and N64 had disappointing sales and followed through their cycle. You speak history but it is Nintendo ‘ s history you should be looking at. You keep speaking of evolving tech trends, please provide an example that evolves Nintendo. Lastly, NX has not been clarified by Nintendo of what type of system that it is. It still could be a handheld or home console. You speaking speculation while I am speaking facts. You spoke of history and I provided you history. Fact is the wii u is in the 3rd year and based on factual history and current facts is in the middle of its cycle.

                    4. 1. The gamepad may have started development before the RELEASE of the iPad, but then you can say that the iPad was in development even before this – regardless, that isn’t the issue. It’s that Nintendo was too late to the party and also didn’t realize that you can’t just try to piggback off of a tech that at the time didn’t really cater as much to gamers. They tried to make it happen, but it didn’t work.
                      2. When I talk about evolving tech trends, I mentioned not only the notion that one cannot announce a system and then release it over a year later as in the past – the way that tech gets better, as well as with social media now making news instantaneous and with everyone connected, you can’t go that slow anymore. And Nintendo has been adept at going slow in that regard, especially in other areas like HD and online.
                      3. NX hasn’t been clarified as to what kind of system it is – not necessarily. The speculation from sources is that it combines a handheld AND a console, but since dev kits have already gone out, and Reggie has already noted in an interview with WSJ that it’s a “home console”. Either way, it’s a big freaking deal for them. You’re swimming against the current here if you think it’ll be just a handheld. The fact of the matter is, the Wii U sales have been poor, its reception has been poor, and there are very, very few games coming out for it in the near future.
                      4. Your history has just been refuted by me. The fact that the Wii U is in its 3rd year, again, has NO bearing on how long it will last. Dreamcast was discontinued after 2.5 years, while the first Xbox and Sega Saturn saw their successors launch about 4 years later. Based on everything that has happened so far, taking into account the sales, the future game calendar for the Wii U, all the news around the NX, and just about everything else I’ve mentioned so far in this conversation, the Wii U will be put to rest next year. If Nintendo actually did decide to somehow keep the system alive (and what would dictate alive? 3-4 games a year?), it would be one of the worst decisions they could make right now….but I think they’re smarter than that, and they learn from their mistakes. Perhaps you could learn something too.

                    5. 1. Nintendo have always used tech in that way when finding new ways to control. Example NES and Super NES controller, N64 controller, GameCube controller, Wii controller, and Wii U controller.
                      2. No example given. Only keep saying evolving tech. What is this evolving tech you speak of. Are you talking about cpu, gpu, wireless tech, silicone, eyc. What is this evolving tech?
3.Reggie said no such thing. You speak of more speculation and no facts from Nintendo.
4.You speak of Microsoft and Sega history but no Nintendo history. If you look at wii u future calendar a year ago, you will see the same amount of known game releases. As I said, I speak with facts and you speak with speculation.

                    6. I don’t need to watch something about something that hasn’t been revealed. It would be only speculation . I deal in facts.

                    7. Suit yourself. Your “facts” are grossly out of date and don’t take into account other situations that prove that it isn’t all black and white. But to each their own.

                    8. This is how I thought this will end. See if you provided facts to back your claims, it would have shorten this conversation we had. Speculation is opinions. Facts are truths. It was fun speaking with you. Some point in 2016 when Nintendo gives information on NX then no more speculation will be needed.

                    9. I backed up my claims with previous tech trends, history, quotes from Reggie himself, and reasonable assumptions based off of the news regarding the NX dev kits and other sources. You take a fact (3 years = mid cycle of a console) and construe that to mean the Wii U still has 3 years left, when that in itself is pure speculation, and even less likely given how in the PAST 3 YEARS the system has not done well at all. Combine that with the NX and Nintendo’s lack of games coming to the system, and it’s pretty damn obvious where things stand. You’re just too ignorant to admit it.

                    10. When I said 3 years for Wii U, I mean 2016 and then 2017. 3 years is the mid cycle for 5 year console cycle. Facts is what I say. Where is this Reggie quote because Reggie said no such type. No Nintendo representative has spoken about the NX other than more details in 2016 and it is a dedicated system. Reggie may have said console for the NX but handheld and home are both consoles. You mentioned reasonable assumptions. Assumptions are opinions and not facts.

                    11. lolwut. You said:
“Wii u is in the middle of its life cycle. It is just starting it’s 3rd year.”
And even though it’s starting its 4th year now (Nov 2015 was the end of its 3rd year), I’ll still take you task on your crap. So if I’m to understand your initial comment on the 3rd year being its mid cycle, how does that get you to 2016 and 2017? It was released in 2012, and it’s now the end of 2015, which right now equals 3 total years and a few weeks so far. So if 3 years = mid, then it’s life cycle ends at the end of 2018. What the fuck are YOU talking about? A console isn’t guaranteed a 5 year cycle. I’ve proven that over and over again. Your “facts” are either outdated, irrelevant and non-applicable to the current situation, or straight up bullshit. Again.
Keep digging that hole for yourself, though. Please. I’m enjoying this.

                    12. What is the middle year for 5 years? It is not the 1st year or. 2nd year or 4th year or 5 year. It is the 3rd year. Wii U first year ended Nov 2013. 2nd year ended Nov 2014. 3rd year just end Nov 2015. 4th year will end Nov 2016. 5th year will end Nov. 2017. There you have it. I laid it out nicely for you.

                    13. Uh, between the 2nd and the 3rd year. Like, 2.5 years. But now we’re arguing semantics. Either way, your ‘5 year cycle’ doesn’t hold, as, AGAIN, I’ve already proven that console life cycles can vary. To base everything off of one “fact” that isn’t accurate does little to help your argument.
But kudos for trying. It’s also funny how you think the Wii U will last until the Nov. 2017. You still haven’t taken into account other variables that affect a console’s life cycle, which I’ve already elaborated on ad nauseam.

                    14. This the last I will speak of this. Nintendo history is 5 to 6 year cycle. You can speculate all you want. That is a fact. Through good and bad sales this has been nintendo ‘ s home console cycle. Thank you for helping me kill time off work. It has been fun. Enjoy your day or night depending on where you from.

                    15. Oh, so now instead of the ‘5 year cycle’ it’s ‘5 to 6 year cycle’. You keep backtracking and changing your tune once it becomes inconvenient to stick with your narrative.
This may be the last time you’ll speak of this, but it won’t be the last time I say this: You’re still full of shit.

It has indeed been fun though, proving how inept and ignorant you are. Adieu!

                    16. What are you taking about Nintendo home consoles have had a 5 to 6 year cycle before new console is released. This is a known fact. Wii U to the next home console will follow this pattern. NES to Super NES is the exception as it was 7 years 1983-1990. SNES to N64 1990-1996. N64 to GameCube 1996 to 2001. Gamecube to Wii 2001-2006. Wii to Wii U 2006-2012. 5 years cycle was between the two worst selling consoles before the Wii U. N64 and GameCube had 5 year cycles. SNES and Wii had 6 year cycles. NES had 7 year cycle. Are you understanding the console cycle? Hope this image helps.

                      http://image.slidesharecdn.com/strategynintendouebs-131129064842-phpapp01/95/strategy-nintendo-uebs-6-638.jpg?cb=1385707893

                    17. Uh, I’m going based off of your own initial comments. You first bring up the “5 year console cycle”, then retract it to “5-6 years” in order to make the stats fit your narrative. Don’t patronize me. In the end, though, it doesn’t matter because the Wii U won’t be supported by Nov. 2017.
At this point, you’re either trolling, or you’re really that ignorant.

                    18. Ha Ha ha….your name fits you. I’ll remember that name. I’ll take others advice and just ignore you.

                    19. Resorting to deflection and superfluous things that don’t add to the argument and are irrelevant. Typical behavior when you don’t have a leg to stand on anymore.

                    20. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!} says:

You’re ignoring the fact those consoles stayed around for over 5 years because they were considered very successful by late 80s & 90s standards. The reason the Gamecube stayed around for around 5 years but no more was because it was neither a success nor a failure. As for the Wii, it never should have stayed around for as long as it did since a good majority of it’s userbase either used it only for a few games or they left for mobile & facebook games. And with the Wii U doing a lot worse than the Gamecube, speculation or not, it would be understandable if Nintendo suddenly decided to abandon it before 5 years. Personally, I give the Wii U one more year. Now excuse me while I go back to the sidelines.

                    21. 1. Uh, ok? I’m not talking about Nintendo (initially) innovating, and then using bullshit gimmicks. I’m talking about what is happening with tech, not what Nintendo decides to do on their own in order to try to stand out – and they feel the need to do so because they’ve stopped trying to keep up in the other areas of tech that I mentioned.
                      2. Evolving tech trends – I already elaborated on that. But sure, if you want more examples for just evolving tech (ok?), then the aforementioned HD and online play that Nintendo lagged behind on because they don’t seem to care (or at least used to not care). I feel like you’re trying to grasp at some sort of higher concept that I’m not actually alluding to in order to….do what?
                      3. Uh. Yes. He did:
                      http://nintendonews.com/2015/06/nintendo-nx-home-console/
(or just google “reggie wsj nx console for other articles)
You also would have known that had you watched that episode of the Final Bosman, which also mentions Iwata saying a similar thing.

                      4. There are an abysmal number of games being released for the Wii U next year. And my reference to history is about console sales, not game sales. Regardless, both are low for the Wii U. And for the sake of clarity, how about posting the list of announced games to be released on the Wii U in 2016 and compare that to 2015? Because from what I’m looking on on Nintendo’s official site and others, 2016 is bleak. But if you’re saying that it’s about as bleak as last year….yeah, sure. But that doesn’t help your argument, it jus shows that Nintendo hasn’t supported their system like they should.

How about not being so ignorant? Your “facts” are full of shit. You’re full of shit. But hey, if you want to keep digging a hole for yourself, be my guest.

                    22. I’m sorry you was not taught how to debate. Name calling does nothing. I don’t get upset over debates. You upset that I have provided facts. Your link is not to the original source. The original source does not have Reggie saying that.

                    23. They are always at work in their next home console. He did not say the NX is that home console. This is how misinformation gets spread around.

                    24. Oh man, you’re really grasping for straws at this point. That Nintendo still has a secret console they’re working on in addition to the NX? NOW who’s speculating?
You believe whatever you want even if it’s full of shit. I’ll be proven right in 2016.

                    25. You do know myiamoto said way before NX was even mention that they were working on their next home console. I get off work in 12 minutes and I will post the link to that. So if the words NX and home console is not used together then it is not a fact they are one of the same.

                    26. They don’t always have the same name when they start development to when they actually announce it – even when they do announce they’re working on it, that doesn’t equate to what the actual title will be. Gamecube was known as Project Dolphin.
And yeah, go ahead and link the article since from what I’m finding, he mentioned Nintendo was working on their next console about a year ago. Considering how long it takes to develop a console, what’s your point?

                    27. Yeah, this doesn’t help your argument at all. The fact that he mentions it a year ago is irrelevant since development of consoles begin years in advance. This actually just lends even more credence that they were working on the NX concept back then. Miyamoto mentions they’re working on the next console, but doesn’t specify a name (obviously he can’t reveal it yet), and YET AGAIN like I said before, the code name means nothing. Just because the finally mention a code name in 2015 but not in December means absolutely nothing. If you honestly believe that what Miyamoto refers to THREE MONTHS before they reveal the code name “NX” is different than the NX…you really are a fool, and I have some ocean front property to sell you in Montana.

                    28. The point of the link was for your irrelevant link about reggie mentioning home console. So you don’t have nothing saying NX is a home console. You can keep your speculation. I’ll let you keep typing misinformation. There is no one that is going to take it with fact.

                    29. Uh, what? Miyamoto mentioned the next home console. So did Reggie, which isn’t irrelevant simply because YOU say it is. It’s just you continuing to deny further evidence and facts that don’t fit your narrative. You think they’re mutually exclusive? You’re not making any sense, but what else is new?

                    30. Facts are now bullshit. I can prove every word I spoke of. Can you prove it with a fact?

                    31. You really haven’t proven much at all, and I’ve yet again already proven your facts wrong with the 3-year “fact”. Although now you’ve tried to go back on your comments, but it’s too late for that. You don’t know what you’re talking about. You ignore actual quotes, you ignore the industry, you ignore what Nintendo themselves have done….again, already refuted this in the other posts, but 5 year console cycle? THAT is speculation, at least if you’re referring to the Wii U, because there’s nothing to go off of, based on your “facts”, to assume that there would be a normal 5 year console cycle when 5 years has never been normal.
Now, it’s been rumored that the PS4 may not last as long as the PS3 did, but that is speculation.
Do you even think before you press ‘send’ on your responses, or do you just type out whatever you think sounds good and hope it sticks without seeing if it makes sense at all?

                    32. Points proven with speculation. I’m glad we didn’t have you on the debate team.

  3. I’m really interested to see how they’re going to play this off. ._.
If this is true, the NX could be released before E3.
Kinda losing the advertising advantage, not sure if that would play well.

  4. I still hope it’s not launched that soon. It’s too soon. NX needs to come out in 2017 or at least after E3 2016. Not a day before because then people will think they are pulling a Sega. hold off on NX until the Wii U is at a good five years. That fits the amount of time from N64 to GameCube and GameCube to Wii.

  5. Nah, nintendo’s got a pattern. Friend of mine and I had a debate not too long ago. New console each 5 years. It hasn’t been 5 years yet. For example: N64(1996)>Gamecube(2001)>Wii(2006)>WiiU(2012) As for their Portables/iterations, those come out roughly every 2 years give and take.

  6. NX shouldn’t release in 2016 there are good games coming out on Wiiu so do this to quickly is not a good move, when we already have a console producing console and ditching it so soon.

    1. thats what i was thinking the NX should be release on the same year in 2017 because nintendo said they will release there mobile titles in 2017 yeah the NX should be release on that year not in 2016 because that is way so far early to get release in late 2016.

        1. Maybe, but I feel like Nintendo drives you insane, as opposed to the other consoles just attracting insane people.

          1. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!} says:

Here we go! What do ya think? Now I got both you AND Hollow reflecting in my name. lol

  7. well there last quarter in 2014 was a little disappointing i’m glad that nintendo is saving up there IP on there next big thing.

  8. I think it would be a big mistake to release the NX in 2016. Firstly the game line up will be very weak if none existing. I know games like zelda wii U will be also release on the NX but it’s not enough and the wii U demonstrate that nintendo can’t do it alone.

This means the second and third party developers need more time to develop game (3 years) cause from the news I read they received the development kit this year. November 2017 will leave 2 years and 1/2 o develop a game which is not too bad timing.

Personally releasing the NX (of what ever marketing name they come up with), will seems real hasty and not well though. Also they will need to release information in more controlled and informative manner so that Joe/Jane bloke understand what they going to buy and this take time especially with Nintendo.

      1. Even if Nintendo makes 10 games at launch, then what???? I tell you what gonna happen you will have to wait every years for 3 games (2 in November and 1 between February and May). Obviously Nintendo will tell they will release 100 games within a year but 77 of them are virtual games from past consoles they have released on wii and Wii U and 20 Indies games.

Finally do you really believe Nintendo will pull out a good marketing strategy within 5 months?

  9. Just port smash, splatoon, and the new zelda and I’ll be down to fucking buy it.

      1. I’m spiderman. I kicked your fucking ass you obsolete fucker like always do. I wouldn’t have saved those irrelevant bitches that you threw though. They were garbage to fucking begin with.

  10. If production is starting the beginning of 2016 you better believe it’s releasing holiday 2016! Fo sho

  11. If it’s backward compatible with Wii U games. And it’s starting production sometime between Jan and March for sure it’s coming November 2016

      1. I direct you to the word if. Meaning Kicked to the Kirb is talking about guesses & assumptions. Now if Kirb said when instead of if, then your comment would be right.

  12. I’m kinda still hoping that the NX gets released in 2017 but according to the recent rumors I really don’t think that’s gonna be the case. I really do hope that Nintendo is shipping a lot of units because the original Wii at launch was impossible to get, hell it was impossible to get for the first 3 years lol

    1. well the Wii sold alot of units in 2007 since there fiscal year its even have alot of units like the Wii U yeah next year is gonna be one hell of nintendo and i dont think the NX should not be release in 2016

  13. It doesn’t matter when it releases because I’m not buying day 1 regardless. I’ll wait a year before buying it to make sure it’s not another Wii U with empty promises & half assed support. No rush.

  14. Mass Production on April 1st? Cause April 1st is the first day of Q2 lol, I know it could be April in general, but I find it unlikely a new console will be in mass production before it’s even revealed to the world at E3 in June lol. Remember when Wii U was first shown at E3 2011? Granted they only really showed the controller…then E3 2012 came they showed the system which THEN was a finished console and it began mass production lol. Mass producing a product before the world has seen it yet is the stupidest risk you could take.

    1. After you get xcx i wonder what you’ll do…. Ever since that guys comment about all your topics based on the game I’ve started to notice.

But anyways I hope you enjoy it :3 it’s on my radar as well hopefully we could play together lol

                    1. kid if you don’t like SEGA so much and there crappy games in the past then go shove those SEGA games up your ass you dumbass.

                    2. Jaded Professor Ridley Bowie X3 {R.I.P. David Bowie, the One & Only Goblin King! R.I.P. Alan Rickman, the Awesome Professor Snape!} says:

Are you two ever gonna stop this childish banter of back & forth? …………. No? *pulls up a seat & gets out some popcorn* Carry on then! :)

  15. Quarter 2 would end in June. Considering the console has never been shown or even named I doubt it’s coming in 2016. It’ll likely be announced at E3 like always, then shown again in 2017 with the games lineup and a release date of “holiday 2017”. Considering they’re still pushing the Wii U and Amiibo (which work more for Wii U than 3DS) I really doubt they’ll completely screw over the Wii U so quickly, even with the overall poor sales. It was the #1 console on Black Friday so I really don’t see them pushing it out in 6 months.

    1. I hope so. Mainly because if by some miracle the NX is the best thing ever & it attracts every major 3rd party back to the point they 100% support it for it’s entire life span with exclusives & multiplats, I would have bought a fucking PS4 this year for Christmas for nothing. Yeah. That’s a big fucking if, sadly. *sigh* I miss the days I had absolute trust & faith in Nintendo… *looks at the many people upset with my opinion even if I am being whiny* On second thought, I don’t miss it THAT much.
