Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima has confirmed to TIME that he won’t be a one-year president as a lot of people previously thought. His term is for one year as it is with all Nintendo president’s, but he could well be reconfirmed by the board members as president for the next few years. His position will be reviewed on a yearly basis and will presumably be based on performance.
“Also, something I think that maybe was misunderstood previously was, there was talk about me being around for one year. What that was, is the board of directors, as a member of the board, the term is for one year. And at the next shareholders meeting we have to be reconfirmed as board members. That happens on a yearly basis, but there was never any meaning that I would only be president for one year in that conversation.”
good
Is this a good thing to you guys?
For me it doesn’t matter. I don’t have stock in nintendo. Also, nothing I can do if I don’t like it.
i’m not sure if thats a good thing depending on what he said.
I already told you guys this…
Good, because so far it seems like he has some brains.
He will get the same flak as I watt but may be able to get other things done iwata couldn’t and I will check for xcx at gamestop and the nex and best buy can wait
Mario Mafia kingpin means business!
Good I say. Nintendo will go nowhere, if they only have a President for 1 Year and then introduce a new one.
I figured it wouldn’t be for only 1 year. That would be ridiculous. It’s probably one of those annual voting/electing situations where they have to constantly re-elect and renew his presidency every year.
And btw, I was hoping we’d get to see Kimishima in that last Nintendo Direct, but didn’t. That’s probably a sign that Kimishima will NEVER appear in the Directs. Shame. Just goes to show how unique and special Satoru Iwata was.
Of course. Many people on here pretty much told the ignorant ones of us, me included, that the Nintendo President’s job is reviewed every year to see if he, or she, will be allowed to remain president for another year.
