Nintendo Intends To Continue Making Software For Wii U

With Nintendo’s next project the NX looming some of us were afraid that the Wii U would be neglected while they worked on the new device. Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima has assured gamers that simply won’t be the case and that they plan to continue providing new software experiences on the Wii U. He claims that the last thing they want to do is abandon Wii U owners while they transition to the NX.

So we can’t just abandon them and say ‘Hey, it’s time to move on to the next thing.’ Of course we are working on NX and looking at the experiences we can bring to that platform. But first our job at this point is to support the consumers who have purchase Wii U and make sure that they have software experiences available to them.”

  1. I’m so glad this was finally addressed! I always felt that Nintendo knew this too. I’m hoping for a few bombshells in 2016 but my hope is still guarded.

  2. >>>Metroid: Quadraxis’ Other Head, The Legend of Zelda: A Quadraxis Through Time, Super Quadraxis Drones, Quadraxis Party 2.0, Kid Quadraxis Deadrising, F-Zero QX, Quadraxis and The Nightmare Brush, Starfox Commander, Fire Quadraxis Awakening>>>

    >>>Make them at once>>>

      1. >>>You already have 7 versions or something of Nintendogs and Starfox, enough doggy styles>>>

  3. Just like they supported the Wii when the Wii U came out! lol I will believe it when I see it.

    1. They’ve already proven time and time again that they’re full of it when they claim they’ll support older hardware, but it would be suicidal and piss off a lot of already disgruntled Wii U owners for them to be honest.

  4. One game year I think not, here are the games released this year look Below:
    1)Mario Party 10 (20th March 2015)
    2)Splatoon (29th May 2015)
    3)Super Mario Maker (September 11th 2015)
    4)Rodea: The Sky Soldier (13th November 2015)
    5)Mario Tennis Ultra Smash (20th November 2015)
6)Xenoblade Chronicles X (4th December 2015) Releases Friday, which is tommorrow
7)Fast Racing Neo (10th December 2015) Releases next week Thursday

How can some people say Wiiu didn’t hardly release anything, there must be few other indie games released in 2015 including VC for DS, N64, Wii.

From the list I have bought Mario party 10, Splatoon, Super Mario maker, Rodea, Mario tennis and pre ordered Xenoblade Chronicles X so I have bought all games available for 2015 that is how much I love my Wiiu and the games, bought same amount of games on my PS4 only 5 games I bought and 3 are sold which got boring quickly only remaining 2 of them this how bad are PS4 games are, I hardly use my PS4 anymore, I play Wiiu more and everyday.

I probably sell my PS4 with all of the stuff, if I get good deal out of it.

    1. Rodea and Fast Neo are not Nintendo. Xenoblade is Monolith, so I’m not sure if that counts or not since Nintendo does have them as a second party of I’m not mistaken. Mario Party is garbage these days. Mario Tennis Smash has less features than previous installments from what I hear.

    2. Ok, the only three games on that list worthy of buying is Splatoon, Mario Maker, and Xenoblade. Those are the only three Wii U games I have bought this year.

If your selling your Ps4 games, then your buying the wrong games. I will admit I sold Diablo 3 because it was such a fucking letdown, but that’s a unique case. Here are the games I have bought on my Ps4 this year.

      Dark Souls Two, (Amazing)
      Bloodbourne (masterpiece)
      Arkham Knight ( meh )
      Diablo 3 (shit)
      Witcher 3 (amazing)
Destiny (amazing, best shooter I have played in years)
      Fallout Four (Amazing)
      Divinity Original Sin (Masterpiece)

There are more games for the Ps4 I want aswell. Look, it’s fine to be a Nintendo fan, I am, but don’t pretend like Nintendo had a good year, because they didn’t. And no need to rag on the Ps4. The Ps4 is supported by literally dozens of different developers. You may get some shitty Activision games, but you will get many gems aswell. As far as the Wii U goes, well It was the worst year they have had yet. Xenoblade saves the year IMO, because it will be my game of the year, even over Divinity, which comes in a close second.

        1. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!} says:

So he bought them for a PS4 that he has. Not for PC, not for PS3, but PS4. So what’s your point for your comment exactly?

    1. I Was thinking that too… NX can be different while the Wii(HD)U can continue to be the HD version of the Wii they should have come out with in the first place and added the game pad later… But regardless, i am excited

  5. Oh, you mean like how they assured everyone the Gameboy would get support after the debut of the DS, making co-existence of the two possible? Or how they supported the Wii after the WiiU came out? lmao
Kinda shocking how people buy into this so easily. Of course they’ll tell consumers they won’t drop support for the WiiU. I mean, did anyone expect them to go all “yea well, the NX is getting closer and closer, so I’m sorry to tell you that support for the WiiU will be dropped soon”? So they would eliminate the little chance that’s left for people to buy the WiiU? They barely manage to support the WiiU along the 3DS, what exactly makes anyone think they would support it after the NX joins the party?

    1. Probably just means that with games in development it will appear that WiiU will still get games (and it will with the addition of the indie market) but the main focus will shift to NX… And the WiiU will see its new games fade but that is fine as long as the NX hits a home run

  6. “some of us were afraid that the Wii U would be neglected while they worked on the new device.”

Well …. Kinda late.. the wii u is already being neglected. While Nintendo focuses on the 3ds so if anything that tells me they’ll barely send out lower quality games while giving the NX heavy hitters.
Zelda u not NX will probably be the last heavy hitter wii u gets.

    1. Zelda U will be on the NX aswell. No need to buy it for the Wii U. No way, and I mean no fucking way is Nintendo going to waste a new Zelda game on a dieing console. It would be a very poor business decision, and Nintendo isn’t big on making poor business decisions. They will do a co-release on the NX. In fact, that is the reason it was delayed.

      1. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!} says:

I don’t know. They did release Skyward Sword on the dying Wii, after all. Unless they announced it’s being re-released on the Wii U as a virtual console game.

        1. Yea, but the Wii had 100 million player user base. Wii U has 1/10 of that. Nintendo will do whatever grosses them the most money. They love their fanbase, but they are a business first and foremost.

          1. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!} says:

Except some of that userbase left, some of it only cared about the casual bullshit, some don’t care about Nintendo games & only got it for the 3rd party appetizers, & some probably threw theirs in the closet & never took it out since. I’m not disagreeing with you about it being a stupid idea to release the game on the dying Wii U only but on the fact Nintendo has made very bad business decisions before like not giving the Wii U proper marketing, barely marketing big name games like Bayonetta 2 or Hyrule Warriors, and even making spin offs for games that we don’t want spin offs for but a mainline game. The biggest offense of a spin off being Metroid Prime: Federation Farce where the last game pissed off everyone & after 6 years of that failure, we get a spin-off that doesn’t even respect the franchise it’s a part of by making it look like a filthy chibi kiddy game which is what Metroid is not! Do they not watch television or movies!? Spin offs that are the complete opposite of what they spun off from rarely, if ever, do well! Not to mention they piss & run off the fanbase of the original. *cough*Teen Titans Go*cough* But I digress.. I should stop now before I go into a rant about other games that did something that was bad for business. @.@

      2. It would be a worse decision to put it on the NX after it has been promised for Wii U.
But I don’t expect you to understand why it’s so bad; you hate the Wii U, obviously, and want Nintendo to ditch it even if it means further slaughtering their reputation by pulling a Sega.

        1. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!} says:

Not pulling a Sega but would be pulling a smart business decision. Besides, Sega released a multitude of new consoles in the span of 5 years where as Nintendo will only do that with one because the Wii U is sinking. Under 13 million sales in 3 years is sinking.

          1. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!} says:

ESPECIALLY by today’s standards where last gen saw over 80 million consoles sold.

          2. Abandoning a console early in its life cycle, and yes, three years IS early, is what it means to “pull a Sega”.
It makes fans lose confidence that Nintendo is willing to support their systems long-term and makes them think that there’s no point in buying the latest one when a new one is so close around the bend.

Under 13M at the Wii U’s price, and with the profits garnered not only from hardware but also from Software and accessories like Amiibo, is not “sinking” by any stretch of any sane imagination.

All it would take is Nintendo doing this ONCE to kill off any and all consumer confidence that they have left.
They cannot AFFORD to kill the Wii U off early.

            1. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!} says:

Under 13 million is pathetic & is sinking. But whatever. Be happy with Nintendo failing. Meanwhile, I’ll continue wanting Nintendo to do better while you all enjoy it’s mediocrity with your damage control & your excuses for how it’s not a failure. If you were true fans, you wouldn’t be making excuses after excuses after excuses. Maybe Nintendo will be able to turn the Wii U’s terrible misfortunes around… but I highly doubt it. BUT I’ll be happy if Nintendo proves me wrong because whether you “fans” believe it or not, I actually care about Nintendo doing a hell of a lot better than what they are doing right now. And right now is trash. If I’m mistaken & you do want Nintendo to do better than what they are doing, good. Now you just have to quit making excuses for them when someone else isn’t happy with them.

              1. Oh please; only a hater actually wants the Wii U dead, or thinks of it as such, and wants Nintendo to move on before its time is up.

If you actually cared, you’d stop calling every logical reason an excuse and accept the fact that it’s made a tidy profit for Nintendo despite its unit sales.

                1. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!} says:

So I’m a hater for wanting Nintendo to do better, eh? lol Whatever. You’re clearly not going to budge from your opinion just like I’m not budging from my opinion. So I’ll just end this conversation with this… *smiles & waves while walking off, laughing at the delusional thinking that I’m a hater for wanting my favorite video game company to do better than what it is doing*

                  1. You can laugh and turn your smug nose up all you like, but in the end, even if you like the company, you clearly don’t understand what’s best for it, if you actually think that ditching one of its consoles early is a smart move.
                    That’s why I call you a hater.
Not of the company, but of the system.
The fact that you can’t see the importance of it due to focusing entirely on its unit sales, is proof enough of that.

                    1. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!} says:

Nice save with the hater comment… except for the fact I own & actually enjoy my Wii U. So hate the console I do not. I’m just not going to ignore the bad & the problems with the console just because I like the things it did right. A true fan would be happy with the good but also upset with the bad and, to me, selling under 13 million is bad. And smug nose. Really? This coming from the elitist upset with other people’s opinions & calling people upset with the removal of a feature (a bust slider), no matter how small or trivial YOUR opinion think it is, stupid? >.< For someone who thinks it's such a small complaint, you sure do get rather upset about it when others aren't happy with it.

        2. No, I don’t hate it, I’m playing my Wii U as we speak.

I want to see Nintendo succeed. Zelda U is probably the most costly Nintendo game in the last ten years, maybe even of all time. So tell me this, would you want to see the most expensive to development Zelda game sell 1-3 million units on the Wii U? Where Nintendo will barely make a profit? Or would you want to see Zelda sell 7-10 million copies on the Wii U AND the NX? If your a true Nintendo fan, you want what is best for the company. And what’s best for the company is a co-release of Zelda on Wii U and NX.

          1. Now a days there are no such thing as a true Nintendo fan tbh. Most of them skipped wii u in favor of other consoles if anything Zelda may be a timed exclusive it pop up on nx after wii u reaches its peak. At the same time would anger most. Wiiu barely gets exclusives as it is let it have Zelda for awhile is that too much (rhetorical do not respond to me, tired of coming to this page)

          2. A co-release would be a slap in the face to many Wii U owners, and would guarantee that far fewer will upgrade to NX than Nintendo would like.
If it comes out on Wii U, it will sell well enough to justify it, and it will keep more fans than not happy, which will help the NX along when it finally releases.
But if it turns up on NX instead of a whole new Zelda, people will just look down on it for being #1 an up-scaled Wii U game, and #2 being a slap in the face to previous Wii U owners.

If you want what’s best for Nintendo, you don’t want them betraying fans by going back on their word on this topic.
That means Zelda U should stay on Wii U, at least until a couple of years into the NX’s life span, so that it can be re-released with new options and better graphics as a celebratory run-up game to Zelda NX.

            1. Nintendo is expecting to sell more NX’s in the first year than the Wii U has sold in its lifetime. Yes, they expect like 15 million in sales the first week. I hate to say this, but the current Wii U owners not upgrading to the NX will not effect Nintendo very much, if the NX becomes a hit. Now, if the NX is not a hit with the people, then Nintendo will have to rely on their core fanbase again, like they did with the Wii U, but that’s not what they want to happen.

A co-release on NX would not be betraying anybody. Wii U owners who are not willing to upgrade can still play it on their Wii U, and Nintendo fans who are going to upgrade to the NX, like me, can play it on the superior system. It’s a win for me, for Wii u owners not willing to buy the NX, and for Nintendo. Everybody wins….

And nobody will worry about it being an upscaled Wii U game. Have you seen it? It’s a beautiful game. It’s the best looking game there is on any system.

              1. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!} says:

He’s stuck on the promise that it will remain a Wii U exclusive. Nintendo has promised a ton of things this gen & they’ve broken a lot of them.

              2. Do you honestly think that no one is going to accuse it of being an upscaled Wii U game?
Look at the human stupidity on display over the boob slider for Xenoblade X, then look me in the eye and tell me you don’t think people are dumb enough to make stupid complaints about Zelda as well.XD

And yes, it would be a betrayal of Wii U owners, because this was never meant for NX.
And there’s no guarantee that the NX will get the sales they’re predicting.
They thought they’d snag the Wii base with the Wii U, but that didn’t work out too well; I’m not going to hold my breath on sales expectations until we’ve seen what the system is actually all about.XD

                1. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!} says:

Look at the elitist human thinking anyone upset over a bust slider is stupid. Tell me. How much does Nintendo pay you to be part of their Thought Police Team? “Oh I’m against Nintendo removing the bust slider; I even sent an email asking them to add it back in.” And now you are calling people speaking out against it’s removal stupid? You’re full of shit.

                  1. Wrong, wrong, and wrong again.
I’m calling the people SKIPPING THE GAME over it stupid, not the people protesting.
And no, I’m not a fanboy; I’m a fan who recognizes their flaws and what would ruin them through logical examination of precedents in the gaming industry.
Unlike you, who befits the expression “elitist” far better than I ever could.
We’re done here. Sit back down and quit responding to me like you indirectly suggested you would be doing two posts ago, when you so arrogantly turned and walked away laughing like a buffoon.

                    1. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!} says:

That’s still bad. Just because they are skipping it for a reason you think is stupid doesn’t make them stupid.

                    2. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!} says:

Maybe you should word your comments better. Whether it’s calling me a hater or calling people stupid, you don’t exactly go into detail with the why so of course I’m going to assume the worst of your opinions.

                2. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!} says:

You really are a fanboy, aren’t you?

  7. Nintendo is already releasing titles no one asked for on Wii U. Highly doubt, they’ll start releasing quality games, if not any games, on Wii U when NX is released as well.

  8. well they said this before a few months ago that they will be working on Wii U software once the NX is release and i’m sure that the Wii U have a few years of life left even if the console dies out in the hard drive people can still keep there Wii U games i think nintendo need to push things a little slowly in there next project.

  9. No shit. Iwata said they will continue to to support Wii U owners until they are satisfied. Kimishima said he was following Iwata’s plans. Maybe now people will shut up about NX getting Zelda U and Pikmin 4 lol.

    1. Do you really think Nintendo is going to waste the next Zelda game on a console that’s pratically last gen? That only has a 11 million user base? That probably will never see 15 million in sales? The answer is no way. Not only no way, but Nintendo would be stupid to do that. Zelda will be co-released on the NX. It’s a smart business decision, and they have already done it before on the GameCube and Wii with TP. And like TP on the Wii outsold the GameCube version 5/1, the NX version of Zelda U will outsell the Wii U version 5/1…. Hopefully.

      1. They probably wont port it immediately… that would be a huge knife in the fans back that Nintendo can’t afford because they already stabbed us too many times.

      2. It’s only been done with wii and GameCube it’s only been done because they were similar and going from what is being said wii u and nx are completely different, and besides do you even have a wii u?!

  10. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!} says:

This sounds awfully familiar. Oh yeah!

Anyway, they better do the Wii U like Sony & Microsoft are doing the PS3 & XB360 respectively.
