A ‘Big’ Nintendo-Related Announcement Will Be Made Tomorrow

It sounds like “something big” is about to happen in the world of Nintendo. Damon Baker, Nintendo of America’s senior manager of marketing and licensing, has teased that a major Nintendo-related announcement will be made tomorrow, December 7. There’s currently no word on what exactly he is hinting at, but it’s not much longer till we find out.

“Speaking of announcements, I wish I could tell you guys, but stay tuned for Monday,” Baker said. “Monday there’s going to be something… something happening on Monday. It’s going to be big. Stay tuned, it’s going to be good.”

      1. Not sure I agree. Nintendo’s made way too many announcements leaving our expectations un-met.

        Expecting Nintendo to announce something to meet the hype they are generating is just a good way to ruin your own day.

    1. Overhyping and overhyperventilating .. then your blood carbon dioxide level goes down .. alkalosis of your blood ensues .. and electrolytes imbalance occurs as a consequence .. leading to fatel arrhythemia .. and bam you are dead … and from the sky you will watch the big news .. which is pink gold baby peach in smash .. poor you .. RIP <3

  1. I’ve been hearing some rumours about Final Fantasy VII Remake coming to the Wii U next year. Since Cloud was announced for Smash and the Smash Direct is coming later this month it could be possible, I doubt it, but it would make my year, if true! ;)

        1. Did you watch the new gameplay trailer? The game has huge framerate drops even on PS4, so I can’t imagine what it would be like on Wii U (if it managed to run at all).

          1. After you play one of the next-gen twin consoles for a month, you realize just how dated the wiiu graphics are. There isn’t even any debate once you’ve experienced it.

            I LOVVVVE Xenoblade X. But it proves once and for all the WiiU is significantly inferior when it comes to strength… Now, graphics aren’t everything, but so far, most every game I’ve played has been outstanding, and looks better than some CGI movies.

            I have no idea how folks can defend the WiiU or Nintendo anymore. It’s really rediculous how much Nintendo has been slacking. Let’em slack. It’s not my problem anymore. And as long as they can keep enough people supporting them for the brand alone, their customers will never know better.

            1. I wish X was on a more powerful console. It’s probably one of the best games I’ve ever played on it’s scale. The graphics are JUST HD enough to allow the game to be enjoyable… Except for some of the scenery… It’s just fucking awe-striking, a-la Xenoblade style.

              I’m going to easily burn a couple hundred hours on this game.

              1. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!}

                Not just more powerful but region lock free, too. *mumbles angrily about the removal of the bust slider* That aside, I can’t wait to get XCX next year around March or April along with Fatal Frame V & Star Fox Zero. But for December, January, February & maybe March, it’s all PS4 for me right now.

              1. Yeah, it’s not for all devs. But I think Monolith might be able to handle it. We will see when Scalebound comes out. Monolith Soft + V8 hardware… I am expecting something amazing.

                That said, I would rather have X in low HD and on the WiiU than not at all. So I’m glad we got it all the same.

                  They are a 1st party development team for Nintendo who has billions of yen in their bank account. I’m sure Monolith Soft can afford it. Along with a plethora of other dev teams in Nintendo.

        2. Um… What? How is that argument supposed to make sense? Are you trying to say the game doesn’t require much power to run smoothly just because it’s based on an old game? Then, “bitch please, you didn’t even put any effort into that attempt to defend the WiiU”.
          The gameplay looks absolutely amazing, and there is no way it would run well enough on that same level on the WiiU.

  2. This could be one of a few things…

    1. The Smash presentation we’re all waiting for
    2. The new My Nintendo Accounts/new rewards program launch date in the States
    3. New information about that Nintendo/Universal Studios theme park collaboration
    4. Nintendo has behind-closed-doors acquired high-profile third party devs such as Sega or Capcom
    5. One or two more surprise games scheduled to launch by year’s end (didn’t they tease that they still had more coming before 2016?)

    Those are all the scenarios I can think of.

    1. This is the Nindie guy for Nintendo. It is a good chance it will be an indie game announcement something like minecraft for Wii U.

    1. There was that esrb rating for the game. It is still a good chance that it is a Nindie game whether it is minecraft or not. When he speak of an announcement it is usually an indie game. Not saying that’s bad because I enjoy Indie games as much as I do AAA games.

  3. Gonna guess official “finished counting votes” from the ballot announcement, with Smash direct planned date and possibly a teaser of what we might be seeing. Considering the Nindie aspect of him it could either be very Shovel Knighty, or it could simply be some announcement for some big indie game finally hitting nintendo systems or something.

    Not really gonna hype this up for myself lol

  4. Wii U can now be purchased without the Wii U Gamepad and costs now 180 €/$ in a bundle.
    Maybe a new game or they are going to take over another company. Or a Kickstarter campaign for the NX. Just kidding.

      1. A little while ago i saw this old man at walmart (and I mean old man) trying to get a can of green beans off the bottom shelf. He was struggling hard trying to grab it, he couldn’t really bend over that’s why. Like an asshole I was watching, amazed at how the man just wouldnt give up, the man was a real trooper I tell you. Anyways, he was there for a few minutes when he suddenly decided to go in and go hard, he reaches real low and like a bolt of lightning, unexpectedly, the old man farts. The fart was too much for his body that it pushed him forward, and since he’s angled, the force of the fart darts him into the bottom shelf knocking him the fuck out. At this point I run up to the man (with a smile on my face of course) to try to help the man out, but 2 Walmart employees beat me to him so I let them handle it.

        Anyways, the point if that story is that, “PC Master Race Narutard” reminds me of that old man, even though he knows he’s going to ultimately fail, he keeps trying, and all I can do is force myself not to laugh as I watch him from a distance.

  5. they will reduce the price of the games from £39.99 to £39.98. I would like to talk to the guys on Tuesday and tell me him to stop BS and stupid marketing. I am 80% confident that news will be something not big for the consumer.

        1. I didn’t think that he/she was serious either… But yeah, I was referring to the “big news” that was the Cranky on DK:TF announcement last year. Cool, no game changer.

  6. Surprise NX announcement with a release for next Friday. Fully BC with all previous console if you buy adapters. EA is bought by Nintendo en will only release finished games, with that they announce Amiibo of every single football player in the Fifa games, point is unclear but they’ll make tons of money out of it so why not? Microsoft agrees to quit with consoles, because they never made any money out of it and they finally realized that they just can’t make a worthy console… And Nintendo causes peace in the middle East and Africa with the “Super Mario peace for the Middle East and Africa foundation”

    Mark my words, this will be the last day of the world as we know it…

  7. This guy is not Reggie, Sakurai, Miyamoto or Kimishima. Don’t expect much from “senior manager of marketing and licensing,” it’s his job to say “something big” it’s just going to be the date for the Smash event. Nothing more.

  10. Well since Damon Baker is heavily involved in Nintendo ” Nindies ” sector it could be either the announcement of Minecraft: Wii U Edition or maybe that Nintendo purchased a major 3rd party studio or the Gamecube Virtual Console is finally coming to the Wii U but I’m not gonna get my hopes up for anything spectacular. I will have minimal expectations

    1. One thing is for sure, it will be indie related. If it was truly something “big”, it would be announced by Reggie, or Miyamoto, or some other high ranked Nintendo Executive.

      It’s not going to be big news. It’s going to be some Indie game finally making it to Wii U, or something along those lines. In fact, After I finish typing this I will most likely forget about it until this site reminds me about it again.

  13. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!}

    *yawns* It’ll probably be yet another thing NO ONE but fanboys want. *shrugs* Whatever.

    The only thing I’d be excited for from the indie guy is Axiom Verge which would be a nice Metroid replacement for when the day comes that Nintendo irreparably damages the franchise. They seem to be on a roll with that right now with first Other M & now Federation Farce being everything a “spin off” SHOULDN’T be.

      1. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!}

        No. I’m a “My glass is half full but I threw it out anyway because it either had something I didn’t want in it or it was missing something I did want in it!” guy.

          “Or it had dirt, insect feces, insects, or something else bad for the body in it, so I threw it out because you’re not supposed to consume dirty drinks.”
