Microsoft: “There’s A Lot Of Demand For A Minecraft amiibo”

It looks like the demand for a Minecraft amiibo is pretty high. With Mojang‘s sandbox game on its way to Wii U, Microsoft community manager Helen Zbihlyj is saying that a number of fans want to get their hands on an amiibo-enabled figurine based on Minecraft. In a response to a question asking whether Minecraft characters Alex and Steve would ever join Super Smash Bros or Mario Kart 8, Zbihlyj said that it’s up to Nintendo to reach out to Microsoft to discuss the possibility.

“We do know that there’s a lot of demand for a Minecraft Amiibo- no idea if we’ll get one,” Zbihlyj said. “As for Alex and Steve making an appearance in other games, the studios that develop those games would need to reach out to us directly about it.”

  1. I wouldn’t mind, it would look/be cool and it is defiantly Amiibo material. INSTANT COINT! It can store info/costumes or unlock content or activate stuff! etc , etc…

  2. PC Master Race Agent Narud

  3. oh? And when did microsoft go 3rd party on their own consoles? Are they trying to connect one another via console matching? In other words, Are they trying to get nintendo to be a partner by making the two companies settle a way for their games to be on nintendo and nintendo on theirs?

    1. They have always worked together, its just finally more public . You won’t see Mario on Xbox and you won’t see halo on Wii U but we might get hydro thunder and rare replay on Nintendo and windows 10 might get timed exclusives of Nintendo mobile games. At this point its pretty clear that Microsoft has bin helping with the NX’s OS

  5. I like the idea of Minecraft Amiibo (Steve and Alex) being made, as for them included in Smash I actually don’t mind, the game is popular and has been for 6 years now and it would only opposed for them to be included by closed minded purists of Nintendo.
    I’m not saying I want Steve/Alex in Smash, but I’m definitely not closed minded to say No to them in Smash. Can’t argue with 50M+ sales of a game, so I say it wouldn’t be a bad idea for them to be included.

      1. “more deserving characters”… Who is more deserving than a character that literary 50m+ people know about? Just because YOU can’t entertain the idea of pleasing a large amount of people with Steve/Alex joining the fight, doesn’t mean they should never be even considered. I’m fine either way whether they get put in or not, just you shouldn’t dismiss a very legitimate candidate for Smash because you personally don’t like them.
        I don’t like King K. Rool and I personally don’t think he should be in the game but if he does I will buy and play him because I know he is a popular candidate that other people voted for because I’m not closed minded.

        1. Just cause CAUSAL or to be more specific a bunch of 10 year old kids like a game like Minecraft doesn’t mean he should be in. Millions of kids like Barney, should he be in? NO. Smash is a NINTENDO game, no more fucking 3rd party characters.

          1. It will have whatever they feel like including – Cloud is an example of a succesful 3rd party character being included, and I have no doubts whatsoever we may well see at least one more from outside Nintendo.

            This game isn’t being developed for select ‘hardcore’ groups…they aren’t that exclusively focused.
            { For the record, this is not a bad thing! }

    1. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!}

      I like this guy! Like me, he could care less whether a video game character, 1st or 3rd party, gets into Smash. If they don’t get in, oh well because don’t really care. If they do get in, awesome & I look forward to seeing how their moveset is done.

        Unless it’s Ridley, though. I want him whether others do or not. Screw them! Release him as a playable character for those that DO want him. No point ignoring a large fanbase of a character if you can make them work. Too big? So? Size shouldn’t be an issue when you got characters like Captain Olimar, a character the size of 4 quarters, in the game around the same size as Mario. “But it’s different with a small character like Olimar compared to a big character like Ridley!” Bullshit excuse for just being too lazy to work on MAKING him work.
