eBay: People Are Buying Devil’s Third For Extortionate Prices

We heard last week that shipments of Devil’s Third were so low that people were having an extremely hard time getting hold of a copy of the critically panned game. Despite being able to purchase the game on the Wii U eShop some fans have resorted to purchasing the game for extortionate prices on online marketplace, eBay. Some are even paying $150 to have a physical copy of the game. Sounds pretty ridiculous to me!

  1. People are aware that they can go digital, aren’t they?

Unless… They are collectors, and wish to own the hard copy. But still…

    1. Though, after 10GB of Xenoblade Chronicles X Data Packs nobody has room left on their Wii U for a Digital Version. I got 1 GB left on my Wii U, and that’s saved for Yooka-Laylee next year. (Hopefully it fits.)

      1. Regardless the option to buy an external HD — if I were you, I would look for one since they became almost inexpensive –, 32 Gb was too little space already in 2012.

I managed to get a 2 TB external HD from Toshiba from Amazon for around 80 bucks. For that amount of data storage, 80 bucks is well worth it. Better that than the hassle of having to free up space on that tiny little internal hard drive for new games… then having to remove that game to redownload any previous games I removed because I want to play them again and having to sit through an hour or more of it being redownloaded. So 80 bucks is a small price to pay.

    2. i usually am strictly digital because of the digital deluxe promotion Nintendo pushed when the Wii U first came out and am floored that people would pay that much for a hard copy of the game, it is not even a special\collectors edition

    1. extortionate
      ɪkˈstɔːʃ(ə)nət,ɛk-/
      adjective
      1.
(of a price) much too high; exorbitant.
“£2,700 for that guitar is extortionate”

I don’t think YOU understand what “extortionate” means.

      1. What the hell is your problem? You just had to destroy the poor guy’s attempt at showing how intelligent he is. He thought he was so clever, but nooooo. You just had to ruin it. He was perfectly fine in his little bubble, being all snarky and cunning, and then you come along and burst his bubble. For shame. For shame.

          xD

    1. I pre-ordered my copy months ago and I haven’t even opened the shrink-wrap of my copy yet.

Maybe I’ll let this game grow in value by not touching it for a few years, based on this information.

    2. The game looked like a lot of fun to me (even if the controller wasn’t in my hands). Personally I’ve played games that received high praises/review scores and I didn’t like em, and there were games that got low-to-average reviews that were actually pretty great. I’ll love to be surprised that this game is a pretty darn fun, as I would love to get it later.

  2. Here’s a tip for everyone- if a seller on eBay lists their game using words such as “rare”, “mint”, etc, the price their selling it at is usually higher than the average selling price on eBay.

  3. While in the UK it’s only £20.00, may pick it up a bit after Christmas, looks like my sort of niche Japanese action game, reminds me of something from Suda51 or PlatinumGames. I know it’s from the guy behind the 2004 reboot of Ninja Gaiden and the Dead or Alive series and I adore those series.

  4. I just believe people are trying to ‘sell’ it for high prices on ebay. And there are some stupid people that will buy it too…. Remember, it’s the same community that sold cardboared cut outs of the Wii U….. And people actually bought them! lmao!

You could take a hot steamy pile of shit, put the word rare in front of it, and some fucking moron from ebay will buy it. The game is awful…

I usually make my own mind about a game but I wouldn’t dare pay that much for a game that most reviews say is total crap. What if they are right & I pay 150 bucks for total shit? But what if they are wrong & I pay 150 bucks for total gold? Even at a 50/50% chance, I still wouldn’t risk it! 150 bucks is too big a gamble even for someone like me that likes to make up my own opinions. I’m not Yoshihiro Shimazu, damn it!

    1. Buy it, don’t like, sell it again for like $130? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ That’s my best suggestion. But you’re right, not worth the gamble, especially if there is a big restock for the game later.

  6. It’s a shame that wii u is region lock cause if it was not, this kind of practice won’t exist. It like xenoblade on wii where the price was too high and lead a lot of people to get a knock off version of it. Nintendo America should really do something about it cause I bet you now people will find a way to hack the wii u.
