Respected Asian news publication The Nikkei is reporting that the immensely talented Hideo Kojima has now left Konami and is expected to form a brand new studio with various Kojima Production members. The reliable news site is also reporting that Kojima is in talks with Sony Computer Entertainment which may plan to purchase the new studio.

That’s a shame, I was really hoping he’d go multiplatform. Nothing against Sony it just sucks that only one type of system will get to see content from a dev that talented.

Noooo! Another awesome developer & Nintendo is letting him slip through their fingers! What the fuck are you guys doing with all of that money, Nin… Ten… D’OH!? I know some of it gets put back for emergency & retirement funds but what about the acquisition & new developers funds!? For a big company like Nintendo, I’d imagine they have funds for just such things like acquisitions & shit.

I understand why he wants to go with Sony, business wise it make sense. Sony at the moment seems to he more supportive than Nintendo when it comes to 2nd party studio. I think I understand why he left Konami but do we know the reason why he left ???

I think he is only working with SONY (not for them), and he’s not exclusive to them – and this is NINTENDO related as we are at the dawn of the release of Nintendo NX which is going to be the most powerful games console ever. Kojima has never been shy of NINTENDO and has made stuff for them such as GameCube TWIN SNAKES. Kojima also likes working on the best systems with immense power, so you can bet he will be coming to Nintendo to create something on NX.
