Jo Bartlett, who was Nintendo UK’s head of communications and partnerships, has left the company. Bartlett spent four years at the company and replaced Rob Saunders who left the company to go to work with Apple. It’s not clear why Bartlett has left Nintendo UK, but we would like to wish her the best of luck. Here’s what general manager Simon Kemp had to say about her departure.
“Jo has been a real asset to the Nintendo UK business – especially valued for her professionalism and attention to detail,” Kemp stated. “She will be greatly missed.”
Hahaha. Nice Mario picture.

Well Mario gonna break up a his fingers.
From the perspective of someone in the UK, is this a good or bad thing?
to be honest neither at the minute, cause UK marketing is none existence and the sales are not as good as it could be and her leave will not increase or decrease the sales (Nintendo products in general). Saying that one may see it as a bad thing for the future cause what is more worrying is that Nintendo outside Japan seems to have their hand tied.
Now my guess (I doing a Patcher here) is that NX is very hard to sell to UK partners and she may have been frustrated because she could not do the way she wanted. Which means they (UK and the rest of Europe) do more damage control than anything else. There is not real direction in their marketing or even product. I also believe that internal re-organisation of the company may have piss off some of the employees who most of them are outside Japan.
If I take the Wii U for example (I know I beat a dead horse), Nintendo did stated they were after the hardcore gamers but the systems was not powerful enough to get demanding games then they switch gear and state they are after children and teenagers (before 13 yo). The wii U OS has a lot of ideas but poorly executed and half-bake ideas (TVii come to my mind). From a marketing point of view I guess (doing a Patcher again) it’s difficult to sale a product to end user and partners.
