  1. I’d put Super Metroid, Symphony of the Night, Final Fantasy VI, Half-Life, Resident Evil 2, Super Mario Galaxy, Monkey Island and (especially) Deus Ex much higher. Goldeneye and Shenmue should be lower. Remove Fallout 3, GTA V and Skyrim. There are much better entries in those series, their incursion makes no sense, even if it’s a poll.

    1. Everyone has different tastes in games. I could create a huge list of games that are some of my favorite such as Civilization 5 (with DLC), Super Metroid/Metroid Fusion, Pokemon Black and White 2, Majora’s Mask 3D (any Zelda really), Banished, Terraria, Minecraft, Super Mario 3D World, Kingdom Hearts 2, and I could go on-and-on. I’m certain that any game in this list would be agreed/disagreed on because of basic preference, nostalgia, etc. I myself find Super Mario World to be great, but I wouldn’t put it above Super Mario Bros. 3 or even New Super Mario Bros. U (although I played both of those first before beating Super Mario World).

      1. Sure, I was just expressing my personal view on those titles, except for the ones I listed at the end. I don’t think those deserve to be on the list when other entries in their respective series do what those titles do better.

  2. SMW is for sure the best 2D platform ever made, with one of the most brilliant mechanics and power up collection ever seen in the Mario franchise. It has a perfect balance of length, fun, and difficulty; also, its glorious and atemporal art style, as well as its addictive soundtrack and sound effects, will make it forever remembered.

  3. Jaded Ridley X3 {I'm not whining, you suckers... *cough* ..poor souls! I've just been driven insane by Nintendo failing me one too many times this gen!} says:

Sweet! I love Super Mario World! To this day, it is still the best Mario game ever made that I’ve played! Paper Mario (2nd place), Super Mario Sunshine (3rd place), & Super Mario 64 (4th place) follow swiftly behind it.

    1. Great choices.
Really hard to say if I’d put them in the same ranking, love each of them too much to tell which I like better, but we definitely share the same favourites (though I’d add Super Mario Bros. 3 and Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga to my personal list too). :)
