Dr. Serkan Toto, who is an analyst and consultant in Japan, is reporting on Twitter that Bandai Namco have a variety of games in development for the upcoming Nintendo NX platform. Toto even goes as far as to say that there’s a Super Smash Bros game planned for the system’s launch. It seems unlikely that it would be a brand new Super Smash Bros game but maybe an enhanced port with all the DLC included. Who knows?

Actually it’s pretty feasible, I already called this about several products. Nintendo well take some current games and port them over to NX with 4K, new features, and maybe some new graphics. Also future DLC well be sold exclusive to the NX version. The reason for this, is to turn games into development platforms. In other words Mario kart, maker, party, smash exe. Well be launch games and well focus on DLC for the life of the system. This is so they can promote new games with DLC content in those DP games. This could also mean the NX version of games may also be cheaper knowing they can make up costs using DLC.

Yeah this rumor doesn’t seem to be believable unless of course he’s talking about Nintendo releasing a ” Game Of The Year ” edition of Smash Bros with all of the DLC included with enhanced visuals and some new modes. I think Namco Bandai may have a couple of titles planned for the NX (and I’m really hoping at least 2 of them are Tekken 7 and Dark Souls 3) since they seem to be on great terms with Nintendo but I don’t know about Smash being a launch title unless it’s a special edition but I don’t even see that happening seeing as that Sakurai has said that he wants to work on other projects

Yeah, that would be feasible, to release an enhanced, ultimate SSB version. It would certainly have appeal given the popularity of the franchise.
And, SSB, alongside other titles, would show how diverse in terms of games the new home console could be.
But… I see several problems with this, like you said: Sakurai is fed up with SSB. He needs to take a rest of it.
Unless he receives a truckload of money to change his mind, or someone else takes over the title…

The NX REALLY needs Dark Souls 3. I mean it REALLY needs it. That’s my most anticipated game besides Zelda, and it would be amazing to play it on a Nintendo console…

Nintendo is going to port several Wii U games to NX with added content/features/4K/graphics exe. This well not only cut costs, but they well turn these games (Mario kart, sports, party, smash, maker, amiibo festival, exe) into development platforms. As a way to make DLC for the life of the system, and also use that DLC as a way to promote new games. It’s a pretty smart/modern strategy.
So smash NX well be the Wii U smash, but well look better, continue DLC, but be the same game. Same with the next Mario maker, kart, and maker. Party may get a new game how ever.

4K graphics? Definitely NOT happening. The NX is going to be expensive if that’s the case. And on top of that, you would need a 4K capable television. I don’t see that happening.
Also, I recall Miyamoto I think it was, saying a few months back that the NX was going to be very affordable for the consumer. I have a weird feeling that the NX really is going to be something completely unexpected, pretty much how the original Wii was. I kind of hope my gut feeling is wrong though, because I really like the idea of a portable and a console that go hand and hand together. Either way, exciting times ahead!

I wouldn’t be surprised. If it’s true it will be a version of the game that has all the 3DS and Wii U stages, trophies, and music. This next part is a stretch, but could also be true, a few added characters (Ice Climbers), custom moves for DLC characters, and Smash Run/Master Orders/Crazy Orders/all other modes on one game.
P.S. Before I get backlash about the Ice Climbers. They wouldn’t need much work as they’ve already been completed, just not used. If the NX is the handheld/home console it’s rumored to be, then I can definitely see them.
I cringe whenever I remember that Ice Climbers have been kept out from the SSB roster due to the 3DS hardware limitations.

SSB should have kept home-console exclusive. There is no point in playing such a game on a handheld, mostly because of the 3DS button layout.
But, as HollowGrapeJ pointed out below, Nintendo wanted to make money on it due to the huge 3DS install base — which I understand from a commercial standpoint. But… I can’t understand how Nintendo opted to seriously hurt the Wii U with this move. They ended up offering a half-assed version of SSB (3DS) and prevented the sell of many Wii U units — some people, like myself, refuse to double dip. Not to mention the aspirational value the Wii U lost in not being the only platform in which one can play SSB.

This makes a lot of sense. Just enhance the graphics and add all the stages from 3ds and Wii U plus some extra DLC characters and stages. Maybe a new side mode or two. I’d buy it. Or maybe if you already have the Wii U version all you have to do is pop it into your NX and purchase the new DLC that comes with the NX version. That way you don’t have to pay for content twice. That would be genius.

(Which rumor has it that the 3DS was number 4 cause it came out first, than Wii U version came out firth, and the rumor NX title will be the 6th game in the series.) People didn’t buy a Wii U for Smash, they sure as hell won’t buy an NX for Smash. The power of the console is not the issue here, nor having the ultimate edition of the game. I don’t know about you people, but I’m not interested in buying a new machine to play the same games I already own.
If this turns out to be true and Nintendo depends on these ports to support the NX at launch, they’ll be making a terrible mistake.

It would make sense. The DLC is just now ending for Smash4. Releasing a complete version with all the content on their new console would be appreciated. God knows how long we’ll be waiting for an actual new SSB game.
And if they combined the stages from both versions.. that’d be glorious. Maybe even adding Ice Climbers back since the 3DS held them back from being in the final version. Such a shame!
Anyway, I hope this is true. I love Smash4, I’d gladly buy it again. Especially if it’s updated in other ways. Like maybe adding team tournaments. Or fixing tournament mode in general… lol
I don’t want WiiU ports, I want my WiiU Library that I bought to be playable on the NX. I’m not buy the same games again.
