Katsuhiro Harada and Masaaki Hoshino have revealed to GameSpot that it is highly unlikely that the forthcoming Pokken Tournament will make its way to the Nintendo 3DS. Hoshino says it was a challenge to get the game up and running on the Wii U so the technical limitations of the Nintendo 3DS would pose a huge challenge for the team and would inevitably cost a lot of money in the long run.
“It’s definitely a challenge to get it on the Wii U with what we’re doing right now,” Hoshino said. “And it definitely would be a challenge to have the same graphical experience on the 3DS.”
Harada said that it’s less about technology and more about needing the money to do it.
“Programmer does not need technology. Programmer needs budget,” added Harada, laughing.
thats fine we all know the wii u does need some money.
Good. Super Smash Bros. for 3ds limited the SHIT out of the Wii U version.
~*But only because Sakurai wanted both versions to have the same characters. :/ That’s what really limited the Wii U version. If Sakurai wasn’t such a work hog, they could have had both games made by two different groups with Sakurai overseeing things as a leader delegating the work instead of as the head dev. I pity the day Sakurai passes away & his development team is left without a suitable replacement trained by Sakurai himself.*~
Or better yet, kept Ice Climbers in the Wii U version and given the 3DS an exclusive character like Wolf or another veteran that didn’t make it back.
The Wii U version is $20 more than the 3DS on top of the cost of a Wii U, why not put a little extra in for those who supported the struggling console?
~*I think Pichu, not Wolf, would have been a better idea for a 3DS exclusive character since the main Pokemon games are on handheld.*~
Maybe, but I would think Pokemon has enough reps compared to Star Fox, don’t you? On top of that, Smash needs more playable villains.
~*In that case, since people are so obsessed with Sylux from Metroid Prime Hunters, he could have been the 3DS exclusive character since MPH was a handheld only game, and we both know Metroid needs another rep more than Star Fox since Metroid only has one character: Samus. Zero Suit Samus doesn’t count because that’s just Samus with a different moveset.*~
I disagree because Sylux is not a veteran, but a newcomer- no one should miss out on a newcomer because of what version
~*Then Pichu as 3DS exclusive it is. lol*~
How is picking Zero Suit Samus, Sheik and Charizard on their own without interference of final smashes limiting things? Wii U would still have the much worse Smash Tour mode without 3DS limitations.
Care to enlighten me?
-||The less 3DS versions of Wii U games the better and that better be the norm with the NX machine||-
*Hopefully.
Good! Keep that Tekken wanna be outta my handheldz!!
Let’s be honest, the Wii U NEEDS some exclusives and having Hyrule Warriors Legends was terrible enough.
Especially since it basically only improves the base game, for cheaper, and with all of the DLC (except Ganon’s Fury), and with more characters, and with new levels, and with a new Adventure Mode map. I’m really torn on whether or not I want it, considering that I already spent $80 for what they’ll be charging $40 for now (with even more features), on a game that I would have preferred playing on a handheld if I didn’t already sink hundreds of hours into the Wii U version (not to mention, you can’t transfer your saves to the 3DS version from the Wii U or the Wii U version from the 3DS version, which ruins it for me), but hey, we got characters without any Adventure Mode stages to use them on!
In other words, I feel ripped off.
next handheld (NX or otherwise) would be awesome to have a little projector on it, so you could project your games on the back of a seat on a bus or an airplane or on the wall in your room, under the covers, etc…
I don’t know, unrelated, but just thought of it, so there
Unrelated, but interesting nonetheless.
Expected, but unfortunate all the same.
They are having trouble getting it on the WiiU ?? … … Wow. :/
Did yo read the quote? He said that the issue is the budget, not the tech.
That’s how they get you.
The only think I can think of is to have a Pokken Tournament controller app on the 3DS to let you use it as a controller for Pokken Tournament on the Wii U.
Good. I love my 3DS to bits, but the WiiU needs more exclusives.
I’m happy they said this to remind people that games do have budgets. Bringing this up as I’m mostly referring to Zelda wiiu on a possible nx port
People were expecting it to be?
~*I hope so. I hope once they finish with Pokken Tournament for Wii U that they don’t immediately get to work on a 3DS version like Koei Tecmo did with Hyrule Warriors which was most likely pushed for by Nintendo themselves cuz “Fuck U, that’s why!”*~
Lol i said the same thing. But different sentence. I didnt even saw yours while i was typing mine.
I hate it when 3DS owners takes Wii U games. I have a 3DS, but do i ask Nintendo to port it to the 3DS and make it look shitty? No. Hyrule warriors for example =/.
Gonna get pokken tournament. since i quit Smash bros. To. Many dodgers on For Glory. And no more. New Characters damn u 3DS version. I like you 3DS but why u got wanted smash4
Good- let the Wii U keep the exclusives it so desperately needs.
No Splatoon port. No Yoshi’s Woolly World port. No Xenoblade Chronicles X port (I know that’s technologically impossible, but still- that is an AMAZING exclusive and a perfect reason to get a Wii U).
How the hell was it a challenge to get it on Wii U? That’s entirely nonsensical
Ah well, didn’t plan to get that version anyway.
