This rumour should currently be taken with a massive grain of salt but SuperMetaldave64, who claims to have insider knowledge from developers regarding the NX, is under the impression that Square Enix is bringing the Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy XV to Nintendo’s next platform. Although it’s just a rumour at present it wouldn’t be too surprising if we saw these games on the Nintendo NX. However, I do believe that Final Fantasy VII was announced as a PlayStation console exclusive though this should be a timed exclusive similar to Microsoft’s deal with Square Enix for Rise of the Tomb Raider.

Wouldn’t mind seeing that. I’ve never been a huge FF fan, but it would just be nice to see good 3rd-party support again.
Just to add, I think that’s now 4 or 5 Square Enix games rumored for NX. Now I just wonder how many of them will be legit.
They all HAVE to be legit. I hear everyone in here saying “I hope this is true”. Let me tell you, these “rumors” have to be true if the NX is going to be successful. Nintendo cannot afford to miss out on games like FF15, FF7 remake, Dark Souls 3, Elder Scrolls 6, etc. etc…. Nintendo needs these games on their console. Period.

If true, would be a neat little twist to have the game that took Final Fantasy away from Nintendo consoles be the same game that brings them back.
I hope this is true. I’m a huge RPG fan so this would definitely make me happy if it’s comes into fruition. I don’t know if Final Fantasy XV will end up coming to the NX because of how far in development the game has been in but the Final Fantasy VII remake coming to the NX sounds highly believable because of the inclusion of Cloud in Smash and because of the fact that game won’t release until 2017. From the looks of things, Square Enix seems to be full on board with the mighty train known as the NX. I just hope they don’t pull a EA or a Ubisoft if things don’t go their way
I thought the first chapter of FF7:R was beign released this year? I might be wrong on that but I sure hope it does come to NX, It might even save me from buying a PS4 if it does indeed happen.

Well the game is said to be “episodic” but no one really knows if its episodic ala Tell Tale games, or episode like Final Fantasy 13 was (a story split into 3 chapters) buts it was pretty much confirmed to be split so it wouldn’t take forever to come out. At least that was the reasoning they gave.

Like Resident Evil Revelations 2 & Life is Strange, you can buy all episodes in one go once they all release & for cheaper than what it would have costed if you bought each episode by themselves as they released. In fact, even before each episode of those two games released, you could buy a season pass of sorts that allowed you to get all episodes for one low cost as they released. Except Life is Strange. With that game, you had to buy the first episode separately from the season pass which gives you epsidoes 2-5. With Revelations 2, you actually get the 1st episode & Raid Mode for free while the other episodes can be bought separately or as one purchase. So don’t worry. Episodic games aren’t as bad as they sound. It just means if you want the full game, you’ll just have to wait for the rest of the episodes to release.*~
Well since the Wii U proved that 1st party titles were not enough to make the console sell to the mainstream, I’d say Nintendo absolutely needs these third party games if they want to sell 50-70 million consoles. I personally believe Nintendo learned this the hard way with the Wii U, and I am positive they will have these third parties on the NX. There’s really no other option for them. It’s make or break honestly…

Any game can run on any console. It just would not look as good as the lead platform.

If that was said then I wouldn’t have replied. It is important others that are reading know what is being said is correct. If that is the case then that can be said of any game that is not made on the lead platform because you can just drop code from the lead platform to other platforms.

Square has been on very good terms with Nintendo and has already confirmed (and then later backed off, but thats probably just because Nintendo was mad they mentioned the NX) what is it? 2 or 3 games? Anywho they have already officially shown love and support for the console so i wouldn’t be surprised.

It will be corrected as the Mario Mafia head kingpin Kimishima have instructed, commander. There’s a 99.998% chance that the NX will be compatible with games powered by Unreal Engine 4 and Unity. Final Fantasy VII Remake is one shining example.

if it were true then i want both to on nx and will be a day one purchase for me, well i have to choose which i want as i would probably have enough for the console and one game.
i am a firm believer that FF7 remake is on NX. i mean why would they choose cloud to be in smash 4 now, of all times? why does he have the look that is similair to how cloud will look in FF7 remake? I also think that when they port smash 4 to the nx, the nx version have all dlc already preinstalled (perks for buying the NX).

There’s no reason whatsoever to port Smash, never have never will. We just need some sort of backwards compatibility, if anything.
Later on in its life there can be a new Smash with all the NX third party characters included.
Remember when wiiu launched and 95% of the titles were remakes of games that came out a year prior.

I really wish sometimes that I was a Final Fantasy fan. Simply because of how many games and spinoffs there are in the series. But I’m much more interested in Dragon Quest. Both of which are series that I’ve never played a single game of.

Yes it would. Square Enix has little reason to side with Nintendo all of a sudden, and Final Fantasy games main games tend to avoid Nintendo’s consoles. It would take more than new unknown hardware to win Square Enix over.
It’s not about taking sides. It’s about selling their games to as many consumers as possible. This nintendo vs sony vs microsoft shit is for children and anyone who has this mindset at a company should be fired.
Good point, although what I said wasn’t to bring up any console war BS. Final Fantasy has been Playstation’s side for years now, so it’s pretty surprising if they started making it for a console that isn’t even on sale yet.
You say that like Square Enix haven’t been making games on Nintendo platforms. Dragon Quest is on the Wii U just only in Japan.
Why did you think I said “Final Fantasy games MAIN games”? Obviously we got spin-off titles in the past for the up to now on the 3DS, but the MAIN Final Fantasy series has mostly been on Playstation.

This was obvious from a mile away. FF games have been on XBox and Pc for a decade now, coming to nintendo isn’t wierd at all. Especially now that Square has had the “Cloud Smash Deal” and the fact that the NX will be on par with the strength of the PS4

Maybe VII, but I don’t know about XV just because its such an expansive game, and would take a huge amount of time to port to a new console. Though, I’m pretty sure Square said those titles where coming to PS4 “First”, so there may be a chance. The ports would probably have some differences though.
