It’s Now The Legend of Zelda’s 30th Anniversary In Japan

Considering it’s February 21 in Japan, that means it’s officially the Legend of Zelda‘s 30th anniversary.

The first ever Legend of Zelda title was released on February 21, 1986 for the Famicom Disk System. Here’s a look at the original disk and boxing:

The title was followed by Zelda II: The Adventure of Link on the Famicom Disk System the following year, and progressed on to the SNES with The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past in 1991.

In more recent years, protagonist Link has not only starred in The Legend of Zelda series, he’s also had cameos in Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart 8 and has had character’s outfits inspired by him such as the Hero of Hyrule outfit in Bayonetta and Bayonetta 2.

And it doesn’t stop there, we’ll soon be seeing the re-release of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on the Wii U and will be waiting in anticipation for the release of the upcoming Legend of Zelda title also for the Wii U.

It’s undoubtedly one of the most iconic game series’ of all time, and I’m sure you will join us in saying Happy Anniversary!

~*Happy 30th Birthday, Legend of Zelda! Wait! This reminds me that I’m turning 29 this year! Noooo! 29 is such a lame number!*~

  2. The game that made me a huge Zelda fan was Wind Waker. It was the first Zelda game that I bought, after having only rented Link to the Past and Majora (my brother owned OoT). I just loved the sense of discovery and adventure that game gave to me. After that, I wanted to play every Zelda game.

Happy Anniversary, Zelda! Without a doubt one of the best game series.

  3. Congrats to my favorite gaming franchise! Just hope Miyamoto can take the reigns again one day. Would be nice to have an AMAZING Zelda game like Ocarina again, instead of just a good Zelda game from Aonuma.

      1. Many people consider OOT to be one of, if not the greatest game of all time. While love every Zelda game, I would certainly put OOT ahead of any newer ones. A Link to the Past ties it for me. With the original as third.
