While Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem failed to set the Media Create charts on fire in Japan, the game has been awarded the coveted Dengeki Online Award 2015 and has been dubbed an RPG masterpiece. We have yet to find out when the game will be launching over here in the west, but with such glowing praise it certainly can’t come soon enough.
- Dengeki cited the game as a masterpiece and one of the best RPG titles in recent years.
- Dengeki praises the RPG system in the game citing how the Session system is a nice evolution of the Press Turn system used in the Shin Megami Tensei games.
- Contrast to some of the impressions made by our members (NeoGAF), the publication found the coming of age story to be quite refreshing and they enjoyed following the struggles, dreams, and success stories of the characters in the entertainment business. It was a nice alternative to the overly dark motif in the MegaTen franchise.
- Dengeki then goes to cover more of the battle systems and the RPG and game mechanics and cites that their time with the game clocked in over 60 hours throughout their play period.
My body is ready for this game!
I think japan is just waiting for persona 5. So am I lol.
Just hopes that the Fire Emblem aspect for the game is well intact.
It’s not lol. I don’t even now why people are still calling it SMTxFE when its name changed a long time ago and made a completely different game.
I have my fears, indeed. Of what I’ve seen it doesn’t look good. Still need it though. Wii U exclusive…
It has Fire Emblem Characters, the Weapon Triangle, Weakness matches like fliers being weak to Arrows, Fire Emblem Classes, Seals (Master Seals), All Enemy designs are based on fire emblem units, Fire Emblem Boss battles.. Fire Emblem references, Fire Emblem Music, Fire Emblem level up sounds.. I don’t know why people have to act like ignorant children over the internet.
I’m just going to figure it out if I like it or not when I play it. Givin’ the game a fair chance. Don’t feel like an ignorant child, but okey. I you say so.
I’m not saying it’ll be bad. It might be fun. I’m just upset about what it turned out to be.

Guess you don’t understand “Fire Emblem aspect” Other than the weapon triangle, the rest you listed is just references.
It’s a Japanese pop Idol game: Fire Emblem Edition
Can’t wait to buy
This definitely puts the game back on my radar. I haven’t heard anything about it in a while, but Im glad it’s doing well.
Man, Im almost as excited for this as for Persona 5. Give us dates Atlus!
As far as I can tell from the Dengeki Online Award site, the voting lasts until February 28th. I also don’t see any notices about the results, so I find it hard to believe the winner is out yet.
The article regarding the game (where the author mentions they spent over 60 hours on the game) is a review article of a series covering games that have garnered considerable attention and might be contenders for the prize during the coming days.
Correct me if I’m wrong, of course.
This game seems to be getting universal acclaim for it’s gameplay.
I don’t think I’ve even heard a single complaint outside of those that just don’t like the idol theme. Gameplay-wise, there seem to be few if any complaints.
