Potential Leak That Listed NX 2016 Release Was Right About Pokemon Codename

The internet has been rife with Nintendo related rumours of late, we have seen rumours about an NX 2016 release, a Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy XV release on the NX, and also the alleged ‘Pokemon Rainbow‘ that seems to have turned out to be the newly announced Pokémon Moon and Pokémon Sun titles.

Interestingly, in the previous reported ‘leak’ on NeoGAF by Trevelyan9999 which included a Pokémon game in a list of 3DS titles, the title was listed as a Pokémon 20th anniversary game named “Niji” Japanese translation: “Rainbow”. It turns out that the NeoGAF leak could have had some truth to it, as the codename “Niji” has been spotted in the official Pokémon Moon and Pokémon Sun images file name on the Pokémon website:

Kotakupokemonsunmoonniji

This could put the other information in the ‘leak’ in a different light, and although all rumours on the internet should be taken with a pinch of salt, it could potentially mean that we may see the NX release this year after all, along with the release of the aforementioned titles in the NeoGAF post.

It was also reported earlier today that Trevelyan9999, who’s YouTube name is SuperMetalDave64, has removed all of the videos that tied in with these rumours. Whether or not Nintendo has asked him to remove them or if they were taken down of his own accord is still unknown.

    1. If he is right about the wiiu and its upcoming game then I regret buying the wiiu and supporting It.

They couldn’t even give it a decent send off. Heck they didn’t even try with the console. When 3ds was treading behind they pushed out more games, wiiu they just ran away and left to ride on 3ds’s success and left us with drought and sending off the u’s exclusives to be ported to 3ds and the last decent one to nx.

      I’m so pissed >=c
Just tell us what the nx is already….!

  1. So that’s how this dumb rumour came to life again. Anyways. Meh. Still don’t think we can visit all regions. That’s just unrealistic. As in it would take too long to make. Even if it would be cool. But you know… Doesn’t mean the game wont be good. I’m good as long as it’s better than gen 6.

    1. So SuperMetalDave 64 posted various “leak” videos on his YouTube page. He emphasized having “verified sources” he went into detail about. The “leaks” themselves were very safe calls that were almost guaranteed to happen, at least up to the latest “leak” video. Said video was a list of 3DS/Wii U releases for 2016, which included Pokémon Rainbow (Niji).

Shortly before the official confirmation of Pokémon Sun/Moon in the Direct, those “leak” videos disappeared. Given the evidence we have, it seems incredibly likely that SuperMetalDave64 intended to pull out when official evidence contradicted his bold claim. That’s not the end of it, though, as this current article would suggest. It presents a screencap of a web address with Niji as a “code name,” and apparently said address element was changed to “sun-moon-11-en.” Yes, a screencap that could have been shopped of a web address we can no longer access in the presented form.

As it stands, SuperMetalDave64 is very likely a fraud.

          1. I’ve gone ahead and inspected the element, and I’ll be happy to admit that “niji” was, in fact, in the source of the page. Despite the surface story seemingly proving his guilt, this new evidence proves beyond a reasonable doubt that SuperMetalDave64 does have legitimate sources. In addition, he pulled his content to avoid any issues resulting from the premature release of genuine information.

I’d like to apologize for being so difficult about this, but I had to be sure. Honestly, before the Niji video, I was completely willing to give SuperMetalDave64 the benefit of the doubt until solid proof came one way or the other. This is about as solid of evidence as I need to decide my position on Dave, and I wish him the best going forward.

For the record, I went through a similar thing with Emily Rogers in 2011. She put out some bunk predictions then, but she’s proven herself as a fascinating video game writer since. I was sad to see her leave Twitter.

      1. For the love of god, will you bite your tongue
Before we make you swallow it
It’s moments like this where silence is golden

        And then you speak

No one wants to hear you
No one wants to see you
        So desperate and pathetic
I’m begging you to spare me
        The pleasure of your company

When did the diamonds leave your bones?

I’m burning down every bridge we make
I’ll watch you choke on the hearts you break
I’m bleeding out every word you said
Go to hell for heaven’s sake

I’m burning down every bridge we make
I’ll watch you choke on the hearts you break
I’m bleeding out every word you said
Go to hell for heaven’s sake

Go to hell, for heaven’s sake

No one wants to hear you (Save your breath)
No one wants to see you
        So desperate and pathetic
You think that no one sees this
I think it’s time you knew the truth

I’m burning down every bridge we make
I’ll watch you choke on the hearts you break
I’m bleeding out every word you said
Go to hell for heaven’s sake

I’m burning down every bridge we make
I’ll watch you choke on the hearts you break
I’m bleeding out every word you said
Go to hell for heaven’s sake

When did the diamonds leave your bones
        Leave your bones

        You’re not a shepherd, you’re just a sheep
A combined effort of everyone you meet
You’re all flesh with no bones
        Feed them to the sharks
And throw them to the wolves

I’m burning down every bridge we make
I’ll watch you choke on the hearts you break
I’m bleeding out every word you said
Go to hell for heaven’s sake

I’m burning down every bridge we make
I’ll watch you choke on the hearts you break
I’m bleeding out every word you said
Go to hell for heaven’s sake

Go to hell for heaven’s sake
Go to hell for heaven’s sake
Go to hell for heaven’s sake

    2. While I actually do prefer each game sticking to one region for the core game (visiting Kanto as a post-game in Gen II was fine, and the Battle Frontier was a fine equivalent in later gens), the heavy heavy emphasis on Pokemon’s history in the recent direct does kinda support the “visit all regions” thing. Though I still doubt they’d do this.

  2. Hm. Interesting. So if Nintendo really did ask SuperMetalDave64 to take down his video, it just means he’s leak might have very well been true, after all. Otherwise, why even bother the guy over absolutely no harm? Then again, Nintendo has been assholes when it comes to Youtube, though. *shrug* Whatever.

      1. Ooh, so scary! lol Run along, kid. I don’t fight with possibly handicapped kids. It’s not my style. May The Creator bless you, child, in other ways someday.

  3. So all we have is a picture talking about something we can’t access. I’m still not buying this. Until we have solid proof that can be accessed directly (unlike this supposedly “pulled” element), I have to consider SuperMetalDave64 as a fraud.

    1. He’s not a fraud. He has already proven himself as a reliable source of insider information. Several of his leaks have proven true, and this latest one seems to follow that trend…

And even if this latest leak turned out to be inaccurate it still wouldn’t mean he’s a fraud. It would just simply mean that he got some bad or wrong information.

      1. Those previous statements having been very safe guesses up to the “title list” video.
BTW, I’d like you to list which ones “came true” for me.

        1. He’s had plenty of leaks come true. Most of them were simple Nintendo direct forecasts, in which he would say a Nintendo direct was coming, and sure enough Nintendo would announce one. Also recently he leaked Twilight Princess HD LONG before anybody even thought it was coming. He leaked Hyrule Warriors coming to 3ds, Mario Kart 8 dlc, etc. etc. I can’t think of them all right off the top of my head, but trust me SuperMetalDave is a proven certified insider when it comes to Nintendo leaks. He obviously knows someone that either works at Nintendo, or closely with Nintendo.

Also this latest leak has proven true. He said Pokemon Rainbow and low and behold the code name was Pokemon Rainbow…lol how much more proof do you want?

          1. I thought twilight princess was data mined by someone else, and hyrule warriors was techmo koai’s mistakes they leaked it on their YouTube early as for Mario kart dlc? We all knew there was dlc coming and the only leak about that had birdo and a few others…

            1. Well I’m not sure who leaked what first, and I really don’t care. It’s difficult to go back and figure out who leaked what first, and I honestly don’t have the time to do the research. If you do, that’s cool and I love to see. But the fact remains, SMD has had many of his prediction come true, regardless if he was the first one to leak the information. So it would be unwise to just write his predictions off, or call him a fraud, when he is clearly not.

          2. He’s just a fucking troll who hasn’t had three cocks in his mouth ever since Blackb0nd raped someone in his bedroom. Don’t even reply to this idiot. His MSPaint avatar speaks otherwise? LOL

          3. yeah i get that too besides i seen a bunch of his videos and it seems like he just want to start another rumor also i dont how did he find those leaks because im pretty sure that some people are gonna believe his crap about the title being on the NX.

            1. So I’ve updated my stance on SuperMetalDave64, and long story short: Inspecting the element of the logo does turn up “niji.” I have a more detailed bit of writing above this, so I’d encourage you to go read that.

                    1. Yes. Do a ctrl+F search on the source code with the word “niji,” which is the project title SMD64 gave us.

      1. In both the closing frame of the trailer and stated by Ishihara immediately after that in the direct, the 2DS/3DS/New 3DS has been confirmed as the platform for the Sun & Moon games.
