Video: 7 Minutes Of Metroid Prime Federation Force Gameplay

Curious about Metroid Prime: Federation Force? Well, YouTube channel GameXplain have managed to go hands-on with a recent build of the game and have uploaded 7 minutes worth of footage. The video includes a fast paced boss battle with a generator in a room that’s completely filled with deadly poison gas. As we found out during the Nintendo Direct the first person shooter for Nintendo 3DS will be released this Spring.

                -||It’s time to take inspiration from Aliens if you want a multiplayer Metroid done right||-

                1. if they had from the start been open and not just trown 30 seconds of garbage our way. it would have been taken good.

                  ff should have been on Wii U
                  shouldn’t have had stupid chibi looks
                  should have been called just Federation force

              2. The idea is solid. The fanbase has been craving such a game since Echoes, actually. The problems are the execution and timing. Even Nintendo themselves acknowledged that exploration and isolation are the landmark characteristics of Metroid. Sakamoto force the art department working on Zero Mission to adopt a realistic artstyle because the original chibified Samus design didn’t fit the series and wouldn’t sit well with Western gamers. They knew that stripping Metroid of these characteristics was a terrible idea, but they did it anyway.

                1. Ahh zero mission the game where sakamoto used his brains to a great extend. And yes it’s true I like the Idea of a multiplayer metroid but if the execution is… this then no.

    -||Even the soundtrack is something taken from a Disney movie or something||-

    1. Quadraxis.. It’s time for you to come to grips that this will be your only new Metriod game for maybe years to come..

      Rejoice in what your empire created for you.. For they care about your needs… They understand what you need.

      This satisfies me…

        -||Whether the Empire is list or not completely down the line, the Xbots will always be far worse||-

          -||I know plenty of warriors that signed that petition which will never consider this a Metroid game even if 1000 real Metroid games are made||-

          -||And if some of them do believe like this then they are not true Metroid loyalists either and are banned from our legion||-

                  1. also, can you really take anything chibi serious? I’m pretty sure the entire intention of the chibi or super deformed style is to not be taken seriously. So you guys look rather silly when you are getting so SUPER SERIOUS about Federation Force lol

                  -||Probably because the main game softened the blow, but I don’t fall for such primitive tricks||-

                2. It’s not like it gets any love either. It’s just there.
                  Besides, it came between two main games. It was a nice complementary game. There’s a difference between releasing spin-offs when the franchise is in good health and when it hasn’t received a mainline game in a long while.

  2. I wish this game was federation force vs space pirates where you could choose which team you’d like to be on. I think being a space pirate would be more fun and interesting.

  3. Whatever developer who made this game, during R&D, they were stupid in decidingthe 3DS over the Wii U. Plus atupud for not thinking.of a real Metroid when this game was being devloped in R&D.

    1. Look at Star Fox… You could have had the Metroid Wii U game and then have this as the bonus game like Fox has with the security camera game whatever it is called… then, you could, if you wanted port the bonus game to 3DS which would be cool for the Fox bonus game as well

        1. Well, they are thinking cheap probably. With NX on the horizon, you can’t put too many resources into Wii U games… don’t raise the masts if the ship is already sinking.

    2. My guess is that they were working on a real metroid for wii u but decided to move development to the NX to give it the real treatment it deserves. At least, that’s what I’m hoping anyways lol

    3. To be fair, Level-5 doesnt really do big Home console games, The last big one that they did was Ni No Kuni, and they are working on Ni No Kuni 2 as of right now. But other than that, the majority (and I would go as far as to say that over 90%) of their games are Handheld games. From the Yokai Watch series, to the Proffesor Layton and Inazuma series. Who knows why, but after the Dark Cloud games on the PS2, they kind of went handheld. They did have the White Kninght Chronicles games but those kinda flopped.

      Oh, and that Yokai Watch Dance game that came out last year on the Wii U. All handhelds and mobile games after that.

    4. They chose the DSi actually because this is basically Metroid Prime Hunters 2. They couldn’t do what they wanted on the DSi so they waited until the N3DS came out and started working on it again.

  4. If it didn’t have Metroid slapped on it, it’d probably be considered alright. But the chibi cuteness overload, and a mood much brighter than that of the usual Metroid Prime installments just makes it unlikeable as a metroid title. It’s nice to know it’s not just crappy mini sports games like was previously thought to be the case, but that won’t save it from the lack of what Metroid fans want, and had grown to expect through the various Prime installments.

  5. Enjoy your Metriod game all you grown ass adults who are forced to feel like 7year old Mormon child while trying to enjoy what should of been so much more. I know you feel ashamed to play this.. I really don’t blame you.

    You have a bunch clueless morons in Nintendo of Japan who take what could be one of if not the most mature genre IP and really make it somethings special…

    And what do you get..

    A bunch of fucking Disney bullshit.. Lol
    This is ridiculous.. Of course a “certain” somebody will buy this, enjoy it and then proceed to bash it with a cybernetic superiority complex..

    -||This is what a Metroid multiplayer game should feel like and be like||-

      1. |||Nintendo Dark Commander Quadraxis-NX Prime|||

        -||Same, it would be better without the stupid moments like running in a straight line cliché||-

        1. I don’t know why, but I got SEVEN email notifications telling me you liked my comment. I saw 7 and was like whoa, I didn’t even write that much yesterday. And then I see they’re all from you for the same exact comment. Very strange.

        2. Actually, that scene made that cliche make sense. They didn’t know which way that damn ship was going to fall when it stopped rolling so they probably thought running in the direction it was rolling would be the best idea. What if they did run south of the way the ship was rolling & the ship suddenly stopped rolling so it could fall in the same direction they were running or vice versa? They’d be screwed.

          1. |||Nintendo Dark Commander Quadraxis-NX Prime|||

            -||The ship wasn’t that thick and they could easily just evade it||-

            -||It wasn’t a saucer ship, it was a horseshoe ship with plenty of places to evade it||-

          2. |||Nintendo Dark Commander Quadraxis-NX Prime|||

            -||I’ll give the human alpha female some credit though for rolling away at the last few seconds unlike the other one||-

      2. I liked the fact Prometheus wasn’t exactly like Alien. After all, it was a prequel so I didn’t expect there to be a high focus on xenomorphs or even a high focus on horror. It was never meant to be horror science fiction, anyway. It was purely science fiction, nothing more, nothing less. I guess too many went in expecting horror.

        1. |||Nintendo Dark Commander Quadraxis-NX Prime|||

          -||I liked the EU version better, I didn’t like that they “explained” what the engineer said to Weyland, in the EU version it just ripped off his head directly||-

          -||It takes away the serious and mysterious tone of the movie itself, but seeing as how most Americans love to have everything served and never likes to think for themselves||-

  7. “We know you don’t like Federation Force but we’re going to make you understand why you should like it!” is what Nintendo is pretty much saying to those of us that don’t like this game. <.< I feel highly insulted. So you guys know what some of us like more than we do, eh? I got two words & a phrase for you, Nintendo. Patronizing, condescending, treating us like children. Fan feedback doesn't work. Sadly neither does speaking with your wallet by not buying, either, since they got 10 casuals to make up for the loss of one hardcore fan. :/ A proper Metroid game can't get announced quick enough.

  8. It’s a good thing Nintendo doesn’t own Alien or has the rights to an Alien game. Otherwise, this is what we’d probably get at some fucking point.

    http://40.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lhcxkgWOPL1qag23jo1_500.jpg

    Fuck no! I’d rather Sega make 10 terrible Alien games that at least stays true to form of the Alien franchise than one good game that turns the iconic threat into a fucking little teddy bear looking thing.

      1. Yeah. That’s definitely the reaction the creators of Alien & Metroid wanted from the audience. >.<

          1. This must be how fans of music artists feel when their favorite bands sell out. :/ Yep. I said it. Nintendo is a sell out!

  9. A multiplayer focused FPS. Sounds like something that would’ve been great on the Wii U. Not to mention Wii Remote + Nunchuck is the best FPS control scheme ever. Instead they make it for the 3DS and make it look like this. I don’t know if I’ll give it a try or not because I really did like Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon and wouldn’t want to just sign off Next Level but damn does this game dissappoint me in more ways than one.

  10. so many people complaining about a simple art style. also this is a side game, i know there hasn’t been a proper metroid game in a long time but still this game does not deserve the amount of hate that it got. what happened to all the nintendo fans who favor gameplay over looks? plus this game doesn’t even look bad, sure it has a distorted chibi esque style but that’s probably because of hardware limitations. the 3ds can render more complex models but a 4 player online fps from a design perspective would be much harder to play on such a small screen.

    1. “sure it has a distorted chibi esque style but that’s probably because of hardware limitations” Really? Are you saying the 3DS is weaker than the DSi? The DSi had Metroid Prime Hunters which had a realistic artstyle & it functioned just fine with 4 player online. So if that’s their excuse, I call bullshit.

    1. Except Wind Waker still felt & played like a Zelda game. This… This is not on the same level as Wind Waker. In fact, it’s an insult to Wind Waker to compare Federation Force to it.
