Outspoken video game industry analyst Michael Pachter is at it again and this time he’s talking about the Nintendo NX which we currently know nothing about other than it’s going to be a unified platform. Pachter doesn’t believe that it will launch this year and instead will be a 2017 release. He also says that based on Nintendo’s history the platform probably won’t be any good, which is stretching things a little far. Here’s what he said.
“I’ve no idea what that thing is going to be,” Pachter said, when we asked him about the NX. “I don’t think it’s coming out this year- Nintendo’s practice has been to show things a year, year and a half before they come out, so… I think they’ll show it at this E3, and I think it’ll come out next year. It might not come out in November, it might come out in March…
“You know, it’s sounding an awful lot like it’s a handheld and console hybrid, where you have a handheld and you do some stuff on it, and the console will be like an Apple TV or something, and you can pull games down from that,” he said. “I’m not really sure. I would say based on Nintendo’s recent history, it is not going to be very good. I know they are pretty excited about it, but I would say it’s a backward looking technology, that is just not an improvement over everything else that we’ve got an option to do, and it will completely miss the point of games getting away from consoles.
“We’ll see,” he said. “But I think Nintendo is desperately clinging on to an old business model that is passing them by.”

He’s making legit predictions of how good the console will be based off of speculation. As an analyst, you’re only supposed to make predictions based off of hard facts. If he doesn’t know what its going to be, like he stated in the article, then he should just keep quiet about predictions of how the console is going to be or how well its going to do. He should be talking about what it SHOULD BE and what NINTENDO SHOULD DO WITH IT. Not outright calling it crap before even knowing what it will be at all.

Not really. He’s an analyst, so he’s analyzing (in this case) a company and its decisions, moves, practices, habits from past situations, shares both his ideas and predictions based on those things. Nobody knows what the NX is, but it simply is his job to come up with predictions and opinions based on the very little info, which might even be speculations and rumours only, he’s got. I mean, it’s not like there’s even any facts to work with right now, considering Nintendo hasn’t said anything about it yet. But he has to say *something* about it, as the NX is a relevant topic right now, so all he’s got are those rumours and speculations, and Nintendo’s habits of doing things, based on actions of the past. That he’s working with those doesn’t mean he’s doing his job wrong.
Whether or not his ideas sound good to you or me doesn’t hold much meaning, because apparently he’s doing his job well enough, considering he’s been in the business for such a long time now. And no offense, but I doubt you’re in the position to teach a man who’s been working in this whole business for many years how to do his job.
That being said, I’m not necessarily supporting his ideas or predictions; sometimes I agree, sometimes I don’t. But most of the time, I feel like people hate on him simply because it’s “cool”, or they think his opinion is wrong, lmao. I mean, you’re free to disagree with him all you want if you have valid reasons, just like you’re free to agree under the same conditions, but some people simply seem overly sensitive about him saying things they just don’t want to hear.
And lastly, even though you and many others are calling bs on his views about the NX, you have to realize that some of his predictions about the WiiU everyone hated him for turned out to be true in the end. :)
Unfortunately, I want to be a fanboy and say that he is incorrect. But after last year’s e3, I can’t be as enthusiastic about my favorite company. I want them to prove to us that they still have it, but I think we might all be disappointed. And I hope that they prove everyone wrong. Since the end of the GameCube era I feel like I have had to make so many excuses for Nintendo’s antics. Trying to make my friends think they were still relevant. But all my friends have jumped on ps4 and pc. I love Nintendo, but they need someone like John Legere, at the helm. He at least changed the cell industry for the good, could do the same for video games.

First sane comment I’ve read in here. Consider everything written between this and your comment fanboys doing damage control. He is PERFECTLY reasonable calling Nintendo out on this shit. They’ve been going down this route since the Wii, putting the whole budget into gimmicks while letting the actual specs, to make sure the system can run current gen developed games, go to complete shit. Wii was the only console of its gen that couldn’t handle bigger resolution than fucking Dreamcast, that’s sad to say the least… I went with wii because I though Gamecube was good even though I had a PS2 only. Wii did ok. I went with a Wii U right after launch because I wanted to give them another chance and because wii was pretty good only based on games, still lacking though. In both gens I’ve gotten PS3 and PS4 respectively. Been spending more time with PS3 than both Wii U and Wii combined. I feel like the same will repeat itself with the PS4. Nintendo has completely forgotten about its base and those who put them where they are now. Wii U has mediocre games across the board, not a single true 3D Mario game on there like 64, sunshine and galaxy games, and don’t you fucking dare bring up 3D world. Game works on 3DS, not for a wii u system 3D Mario game, anybody who wants to sit there and compare it to any of the previous is getting Nintendo fanboy label in the forehead. Kappa
2016 is gonna save ass for wii u by a bit, but as far as I’m concerned Wii U is dead after summer vacation ends. As far as I’m concerned Sony is the one who’s going to be pumping out the dough from here.
Honestly I feel the same way. They never really put time into their Wii U games at all. The Wii and GameCube had such better Nintendo games. And it does seem like they’ve forgotten everyone. I’m not even into Nintendo as much as I used to be. They just really don’t give a fuck anymore.
I’m hoping the NX is done right because honestly I feel like not screwing with them anymore. And I feel everyone else is feeling the same way. They’re the biggest joke of the industry as of right now. Just look at E3 2015 for proof of that and also Paper Mario Color Splash.
On the contrary, I really loved the Wii because of its games. Yes it got so much shovelware but it did have AWESOME games. Games that are better the game the Wii U got. I also really enjoyed the innovative remote and motion controls despite everyone’s hate on it. But that’s just me.

It’s also too early to say its gonna be great as well. I mean don’t you kind of feel that way? Then the fact that he’s the only analyst who said this didn’t help either. I mean most analysts from what I know don’t do this type of thing (but then again it could be because I probably never noticed that they really do). And after reading your comment, you probably got the impression that I’m just another blind fanboy who defends Nintendo to the very end and just think anything negatively said about them is wrong. Well I’m not. I just honestly felt this was wrong. That judging a console so early in it’s revealing of information and based off of not confirmed facts is just wrong. And yes, I also agree that it’s too early to judge the NX (or, any console before it has any official info, for that matter), but the thing is, he isn’t really judging it, but making predictions about how he personally thinks it might turn out, reasoning those thoughts with facts from Nintendo’s past. He isn’t guaranteeing or promising anything, he literally said “based on Nintendo’s recent history, it is not going to be very good”, meaning, if Nintendo keeps their practices and mindset the same way they have in recent years, their next console will not turn out too well once again, which seems like a very plausible thing to say, imo. It’s not like he’s straight out saying “yea well, it’s gonna be shit, no matter what”, but strangely enough, that’s what most people seem to hear him say.
Anyway, I think it’s nice you were able to realize some of your statements were “flawed”, as you’ve called it. You rarely see anyone on here admitting they’ve made a mistake or been wrong, it’s a pleasant change for once. So thanks for that.

Think n, I think it would be awesome, its fresh and new to the gaming community, why not take the home console on the go? They tried that with gamecube if anyone remembers, it was a good start. See, let me tell you the point that Pachter has always missed. Real success is about creating trends, not following them. No doubt the Wii completely missed the points of games moving to HD as well…oh wait, no, the Wii made Nintendo buckets and buckets of money without being HD. There is no “point” that Nintendo need to follow. They just have to make a product that appeals to lots and lots of people, ideally in a unique way that someone with the dearth of creativity of Michael Pachter would never even conceive.
And I’m sure if Michael Pachter were around in 1985 he’d have said that games consoles were dead and that Nintendo were foolish for even trying to release the NES in America.
The Wii printed money and changed the way console gaming was defined for an entire generation. I will agree with that.
It also caused massive damage to the way Nintendo perceived it’s fanbase, deluding them into abandoning 20+ year loyalists who threw money at the brand without question, and you are seeing the repercussions of this in WiiU and now 3DS sales.
Nintendo is thriving on jumping from one smash-success to the other, with nothing but rushing water beneath them between jumps. The 3DS pulled the company after Nintendo revived it by pumping software into it. At death’s door, Splatoon gave the WiiU a serious jolt. We have a new Pokemon coming out, which will give the old 3DS a final push.
IDK. Nintendo is playing with fire and the only thing I can figure is Nintendo’s Luck-stat must be fucking huge. Because it feels like everytime they reach the brink, they knock one out of the park and it brings them back.

Nintendo has an amazing ability to adapt to changing times. IF the NX fails, it wouldn’t be the end of Nintendo. Now granted, thier business model would change dramatically. But they wouldn’t go under. Their IP’s are too strong. They would figure something out to keep the company afloat, however it wouldn’t be the same Nintendo we now know…..
No, but it wouldn’t be very great for Nintendo’s image in whole. Which in turn would push those people on the fence with the company to leave them behind. It’s happening more and more with my friends, and other people I work with whom I speak with about it. People love Nintendo, but who doesn’t want to see them on top? I would say Nintendo hasn’t been the same company I’ve known for a while. The end, probably not, but I don’t think it would be super gravy or anything. It just makes the situation so much more exciting. Love a good console reveal, hopefully it’ll turn some heads and prove some of this leakage of information wrong.
It’s a shame, because I don’t think a Wii had to alienate the traditional fanbase as much as it did. I mean I feel like Nintendo fans got fantastic support through the Wii’s first two years, with Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3 being highlights among many great games. Unfortunately the console’s later years were really weak – a few good releases but literally nothing to fill the massive software droughts like those seen on the Wii U now. That sent Nintendo into this gen with negative momentum, and the results have been clear. However, I don’t blame the Wii itself for that, I blame Nintendo’s decisions in the years following (as do you, judging by your wording here).
Either way, if NX is to be a success it will be by being a trend-setter rather than a trend-follower.

Yea you make some good points. There was a time, (don’t know if that time still exists or not) that if Nintendo just made a box that was similar to the PS3 and Xbox 360, Nintendo would have dominated the market. They would have gotten every third party game the other guys got, but would have all the Nintendo exclusives on top. Nobody in their right mind would have wasted money on a 360 or PS3. But Nintendo let it slip away, in favor of another gimmick. You have to wonder, does Nintendo WANT to rule the market? Or are they satisfied with their own small corner of it? If they controlled the market, they couldn’t put their own twist on things. They couldn’t make anything unique and playful. I have no doubt that Nintendo knew it could have completely taken the market at one point, however for some reason, they chose not to take it.

I’m just glad Nintendo isn’t hyping the NX to be some kind of a hardcore gamer console and parading the third-party support like they did with the Wii U. Ultimately, the Wii U wasn’t hardcore enough, and do you remember how fast the third parties disappeared even before the Wii U launched? Nowadays, we’ve got rumors of third parties “in talks” with Nintendo regarding NX and “getting dev kits” for it. To me, those rumors are so much more welcoming than “It’s a hardcore gamer console with all these third parties!” The whole mystery behind this NX to me is more appealing than simply telling us outright what we want and then going back on it.

Those same dev kit rumours happened with the WiiU too. Developers getting dev kits isn’t any kind of unusual event hinting at the success of an upcoming system, it’s normality that happens with any system.
Besides, Nintendo hasn’t talked about the NX at all, so technically, there’s still plenty of time for them to pull the same “it’s gon b sooo hardcore!” thing again. It happened with the WiiU after its first official announcement too, not while it was still all rumours and secrets.
I don’t care about the devkit rumors being a hint to anything. I care that they are just extremely vague rumors that don’t carry any false promises. Your reasoning is precisely why I like them.
Besides, if some of the rumors have any weight, and mind you, some of them are repeated one too many times to be considered as mere speculation, then even if Nintendo wanted to pull off the “for hardcore gamers” asspull, they’d have two reason why that would be a terrible mistake: one, because in 2016, that’s a stupid thing to say now, especially since pretty much nobody is saying that games are meant for the hardcore gamer anymore, and two, that would be an extremely ineffectual and unnecessary marketing hype to add at the last minute, if the NX is truly to arrive at the end of this year. My guess is that it will focus on connectivity, portability, high power, low cost, all supposed factors which are already appealing to me rather than the outdated “for hardcore gamers” bullcrap. Feasibility, versatility, and ease of use are where it’s at, and definitely not the power and prestige and vanity of yore.

As much as I love Nintendo and as much as this looks like the biggest Nintendo troll/hater comment ever, I agree with some of this. It feels like they’re the most oblivious gaming company ever which is ironic because they’ve been in the industry the longest. I also honestly feel that maybe they really do need something like business therapy. Because they’ve been so damn stupid lately. I’m hoping Nintendo learns from their mistakes with the Wii U. I’m seriously am because I don’t think anyone can stay with them if they keep fucking up like this.

Also like me, he is on the edge of turning away from Nintendo for good. Honestly man, speak for yourself. He sounds like a troll to me. It’s amazing how many so called “core nintendo fans” jump ship at the first sign of hard times. Nintendo, before anything, is a coorporation. And like any corporation there are highs and lows. Right now Nintendo is in a low, but you would be foolish to underestimate their resolve at this point. I hate many decisions they make, but it’s no reason to turn hater on the entire company. Bottom line, if they keep producing games I want to play, I will remain a loyal fan.
First, I never spoke for anyone but myself. Second, this isn’t a sudden downturn for Nintendo. It’s not like they just started down a bad path and myself and others turned on them. Nintendo has been doing things that piss some fans off for many years. The fact that we are still fans shows that we didn’t jump ship at the first sign of trouble. And we still have hopes for Nintendo to improve. I do not hate Nintendo. And I’m certainly a loyal fan. But loyalty doesn’t last forever.
I’ve been a Nintendo fan for 21 years. Never moving to that StinkBox One. Nintendo has a theme park in the works, plans to branch out into anime and movies and now they’re going mobile. They’ll never quit, and neither will I.

I’ve been a Nintendo fan for about 27 years. Doesn’t mean I am bound to Nintendo. I never said anything about getting an Xbox. A theme park is cool and all, but isn’t video games. Same thing for anime, and I didn’t know the anime thing was confirmed anyway. Going mobile is not something I was happy with to begin with, so that doesn’t help your case. I am concerned with their console business, which has been suffering for a while. A few bright spots here and there for them, but that’s it. And those bright spots are so few and far between that if you don’t like some of them, you have to wait even longer for something that appeals to you. As for your never quit sentence, Nintendo is not they concerned with you. They want your business. They are a business, nothing more. They are not your family, and aren’t going to come save you if you get into trouble because of some dumb decisions you make. So you shouldn’t support them blindly when they make dumb decisions. They will not grow if they are not shown the error in their ways. It’s ok to criticize them. It is also ok to let them go if a person no longer feels appreciated by Nintendo’s efforts. I hope Nintendo turns things around. But if the NX is not an amazing console, many people are done with Nintendo. Some people will say “good-bye, we don’t need you (insert childish insult)” but what these people don’t realize is that if people like me move on from Nintendo, Nintendo will not last. And then there will be no Nintendo for anybody. Of course the next argument is Nintendo’s billions of dollars in their war chest. That eat chest does not mean they are going to keep making consoles if their consoles continue to fail. They will take that war chest eventually and just clock out. Their stockholders will not allow for continued mediocrity in their profits.
Many people are forgetting something about Nintendo’s “war chest.” They aren’t going to burn every last bit of it on staying in the video game industry til it runs out. At some point, they’ll need to use some of that money to pay for their employees’ severance pay when they close their doors for good & make Nintendo into a distant memory. Not every last ounce of that money is going to get wasted on a pointless endeavor to stay in video games when no one except a very small minority want them to stay.

Not going to happen. Nintendo’s pulled themselves out of ruts before and they’ll do it again! Splatoon saved the Wii U long enough for Zelda Wii U to come. Pokkén Tournament will help with that. Zelda Wii U will be the console’s final push before NX comes.

Nintendo has still sold over 70 million gaming consoles this generation. As usual that’s more than Sony and Microsoft combined. See, even when Nintendo is having the worst generation they have ever had, they still outsell thier competition in hardware and software sales. When they have good generations, they sale over 250 millions gaming consoles.

Hopefully the new Nintendo president will prove him wrong. After what happened with the Wii U, I am in absolutely no rush whatsoever to get a Nintendo NX or whatever it is. If Nintendo announces some good games at E3, still not getting it day one. The very reason why I was tricked into getting a Wii U so early in the first place was the promise of great games. Nintendo has a lot to prove to me with this next console. I already got screwed over with the Wii and then the Wii U. Not happening again. First party games alone ain’t gonna cut it AGAIN for the third time.
-Make a freaking universal account system so I can have a reason to buy digital versions of games.
-Get third party developers to make games on your system and I’m not talking about indies. I mean big budget AAA games.
-Stop skimping out on your hardware and putting more effort into useless gimmicks.
-Do not region lock it.
If the “NX” doesn’t accomplish one or more of these things, that is an automatic fail and I have absolutely no sympathy if it ends up failing. If it succeeds while still lacking what I said above, still a fail. It will just be Wii 2.0. (Or technically 3 cause of Wii U)
The last time I was truly satisfied with a Nintendo console and thought I got my money’s worth was the Gamecube. I’ve had two of those things and I loved it. Since then Nintendo consoles have been nothing but disappointment. Literally the only thing good about them are the fact that they get a good Nintendo game every now and then. If it were not for the fact that Nintendo’s systems are the only place where I can play their games, I would have stopped buying their hardware a long time ago. They know this too. Hence why they don’t want their games to go anywhere else because it would make their hardware irrelevant. It’s time to get serious again and bring back the fun that I used to have playing Nintendo. Even their newer games can’t even hold a candle compared to their classics. They’re losing their touch and its sad.
I very much agree with this comment. However, I did not have too much bad feelings regarding the Wii and thought I got my money’s worth (although that would likely be because I got to play Gamecube games on it), even though I knew it was just an easy cash-grab for Nintendo. As long as the Wii U did not attempt the same thing, I figured the Wii U was worth getting, even with a questionable control design. Obviously, I was wrong, and at this point, I can freely and proudly admit I was wrong. Fortunately, a lot of the rumors I’ve heard so far sound appealing (if nothing else because I don’t expect good games right away), so I’m not as wary about the NX as I was before the rumors came out, and even if the NX turns out to be a giant flop, I’m glad I no longer care if Nintendo fails. It’s not my business nor my duty to care if Nintendo really hates making good games.
They really have to impress me with this NX or I’ll just skip they’re whole next gen cuz I pretty much skipped this one. I paid for a Wii U but I don’t feel I got my money’s worth.

Just out of curiosity, how did Nintendo screw you over with the Wii? Over 1,200 games released for that system with a six year life span. Not to mention 2 of the best 3d Mario games, 2 mainline Zelda games, Mario Kart, Smash Bros., Amazing rpg’s like Xenoblade Chronicles, awsome third party games and the system itself had many price cuts. Strange you feel you somehow got “screwed over”.
But I do agree, the GameCube was superior.
Objectively, that’s an impressive resume. Subjectively, however…I mean, for me, I don’t really care about any of that. I care about what it means to me, and all of that is basically a long list of things that matter to Nintendo, but not necessarily to everyone else.
Two Zelda titles and Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 is huge deal and matters to many people. But I do understand why some people didn’t like the Wii.
But out of curiosity again, if none of that stuff matters to you (Zelda, Mario, Smash, Xenoblade, etc.etc.) then what on earth are you expecting Nintendo to do? All they can do is release main line games from their top IP’s. What would satisfy you?
They could add the ability to record YouTube videos of any game, making Let’s Plays on the NX much easier to do. I’d love to do that, finally helping other gamers online than just showing off my Smash Skills with uploading my replays.
Maybe something that shows they care about things outside of their Nintendo doctrine. Based on their actions during the Wii and Wii U eras, they clearly don’t care about what other people think, instead embracing their own individuality and whatnot, and while that’s an admirable quality (albeit somewhat dubious), it’s also pretty selfish when that pride comes at the expense of embracing things that are not within what Nintendo likes.

The Wii screwed me over the very same way the Wii U did. The reasons I listed up above are why. They did not fix the problems. I already said games alone don’t cut it anymore. I’m tired of this recycled process. Nintendo produces a console that fails yet again to do basic features that you’d expect and and all of the major third party developers don’t give it proper support. But everyone forgives them because they can play a new Mario or Zelda… I’m not doing it. Nintendo has to prove that they actually want my money. No I’m not saying that they should appeal to ME and ONLY me… All I’m saying is that if they were to fix these problems (which as you can see from that list isn’t even that many) that I would be satisfied. It has been two generations (Wii, Wii U) that Nintendo has let me down. I would have to stupid to continue to let it keep happening. If the NX once again continues to carry these same problems, I’m probably done with them. This is just what I think and you might not agree with me. These problems may not even be that big of a deal to you. But I’m sure you see why Nintendo has failed to get gamers on their side with the Wii U. Repeating the same mistakes constantly. Every time. Insanity. Even the Xbox One which was a wreck at E3 has completely turned around at this point. It didn’t take Microsoft long to fix that up. But it’s like it takes Nintendo freaking ages to solve simple problems. When Nintendo finally gets proper third party support on their console, I swear I will be an old man… Why bother? Life is short, man. I don’t have all day to wait on Nintenslow. (Sorry I just had to lol)

It’s hard to argue with that. Thats your opinion unfortunately, and many people share it. And I see where your coming from, I really do. But honestly I did not feel burned by the original Wii. I remember when Mario Galaxy released, and playing it for the first time really made me feel like a kid again playing Mario 64 for the first time. It seems while I love my Ps4 and Bloodbourne, and I’m gonna LOVE Dark Souls 3, it seems only certain Nintendo games can give me a true sense of joy like Mario 64 and Galaxy did. Like Ocarina of Time and WindWaker did. The Wii and Galaxy will always hold deep nostalgia with me now. I honestly loved the Wii. Just as much as the 64 and almost as much as the GameCube. But I do understand your feelings toward the Wii U. While it could have been much better, I give Nintendo credit for trying. They really did try to capture that GameCube/64 vibe with the Wii U. They just made WAY too many mistakes…

I don’t hate Nintendo at all. I just don’t like what they do. Nintendo has great games but I’ve gotten burned so much by their decisions that it just doesn’t seem worth it anymore. I gave Nintendo a second chance with the Wii U and it did not work. They’re losing their chance to make it up to me and I’m already very close to giving up. NX is the final nail in the coffin if it turns out bad. Heck, the fact that I’m even giving them yet another chance should tell you how much I actually care. I could have just ended it with the Wii U. But I feel like they can really do better and earn my trust back. I am really hoping that they fix everything up and learn from their mistakes. Even though I play other systems now, I’m not gonna ignore the problems. There are people that only play Nintendo consoles (like I used to) that want to play games and not have to purchase a second system to do it. That doesn’t fix the problem, it adds to it. A lot of people used to tell me that if I wanted to play all the latest games that I shouldn’t have bought a Nintendo console to begin with. In no way should people think that it’s ok for Nintendo to keep slacking off just because there are other alternatives out there. It’s not the fact that developers hate Nintendo as fanboys would like you to believe. There is clearly something Nintendo isn’t doing that is affecting it. Every major AAA game studio didn’t just get together and have a meeting deciding that they’re all against Nintendo. That’s just stupid. Sony and Microsoft have no problem getting games on their consoles. So it’s Nintendo’s fault. Honestly, if the NX turns out to be a wreck, it won’t even affect me that much. I have over 100 games on my wishlist and I can deal with not getting a few Nintendo games. The $300+ required for getting their next system could go straight to those games that I already want and I wouldn’t need to be frustrated again trying to support them. So they’ll have to step it up big time if they want my money.

That doesn’t work. Dealing with all of the issues just to play Nintendo’s games is already what I’ve done. Twice… It is clearly doing nothing for me. It only benefits Nintendo.
Nintendo thought they could cash in on the Wii’s success again and it came back and bit them hard. As much as the Wii sold, they lost millions of hardcore gamers in the process as well as having the console that became the laughing stock of the generation. Then they decided to try and regain them all back with the Wii U? I’m honestly not surprised people didn’t want to deal with Nintendo after that. 6 years of missing out on all the major releases. (8+ if you count the cross gen releases between last and current gen)
Still not having a proper online service. Seriously, friend codes? Why is it that complicated? Not to mention the Wii not even being High Definition? That has to be the biggest fail they could’ve possibly made with that system.
The motion controls were obviously the selling point of that system, but did they not at least think to make it optional? No. Because they only thought about themselves as usual and didn’t think that developers or people would not want to use it. Nintendo’s logic is that everyone should use what they make. Another fail which carried over to the Wii U with the Gamepad. They wanted everyone to go crazy over that thing and always use it. But the end result was nothing more than a few games that really use it properly and when you just want to play regular games, the thing is a nuisance with it’s short battery life. Things like these are what get on my nerves. They didn’t listen and tried to do it their own way again. What’s the point of the polls they even put out if they will do the exact opposite anyway?
I’m hoping to see big changes with this new president and I want him to restore what little faith I have left. Nintendo’s not getting my approval by just showing me Zelda or Mario anymore. They will have to earn their way into my wallet! Sony already did with their press conference back in 2013. Microsoft did the year after that with their system when it got completely turned around. The NX is what should change and make it up to me before it’s too late.

Maybe I am wrong, I can see what they are doing by at least 5 steps if given the information and not by rumors. I think they are plotting something that most are not seeing. Count them out by “three strikes, your out”, I’d say, you being too hasty and I’m not just saying that…knowing them, late it might be…they always find some good turn arounds and mario kart 8, super mario maker, and spaltoon is proof of that. Whatever tricks they pull, I can guarantee you it won’t involve my money. Unlike the Wii U where I was quick to get it only two days after launch. No thanks, I’d rather sit back and wait. See how it will actually work first. That doesn’t apply to just Nintendo though, that goes for every console.

Absolutely. The PS4 is everything I wished the Wii U would’ve been. Not perfect because it does have it’s own problems. But it is really satisfying. Personally, I think PC is way better. PC gaming is unbelievably fantastic. Lol. But for a console experience, the PS4 would be my console of choice.
I remember when I use to give you crap for expecting a Nintendo console to have great 3rd party support. For that, I apologize. Why? Because I’ve learned Nintendo truly is doomed without that support. While the Wii U fails to reach high sales numbers because of the lack of great 3rd party support, the 3DS is kicking ass because of 3rd party support & is making Nintendo more than enough money to make up for the pathetic Wii U with it’s pathetic line up of 3rd party games.

On the Bright Side, if he predicts it will fail, it will probably be Nintendo’s biggest success since the Wii.
Here is a Prediction I am confident about. NX will sell more physical hardware units per month in it’s launch year than all Dedicated VR rigs combined. (though still lag well behind Sony, Microsoft, Steam, and Mobile)
… though when Gen 2 or 3 VR reaches Mass Market pricing (and will surely be significantly superior tech by then as well), it’s going to explode. Who knows how long that will take, though. 3 … 5 … 10+ years?
I have a Feeling Nintendo will never quite reclaim its past glory of having an NES or GameBoy in nearly every mkdern home … but they will be around, dling what they do for a while. What that will be in 2020 and beyond, I doubt even Nintendo knows though.
What I do know is … I am enjoying what I’m playing on N3DS and WiiU, and I expect to love what I play on NX as well. As long as the Big N is profitable enough to keep making more “Fun” games, and quirky hardare to play them on, I’ll be along for the ride.

Sony? You have them mixed up with Microsoft. Unlike Microsoft, Sony has nothing to worry about from Nintendo. Even Quadraxis understands this.
