Things aren’t looking good for Scribblenauts and Drawn to Life developer 5th Cell. The company has said today that it has issued 45 staff redundancies. The move came about suddenly as publisher Warner Bros decided to scrap Scribblenauts: Fighting Words. 5th Cell CEO Jeremiah Slack said that it has all happened so quickly that they’re not sure what their future plans will be now.
Statement: Unfortunately, due to a project cancellation, we have had to let go of 45 of our very talented staff members today.
Layoffs aren’t something we take lightly and we’d like to thank all our employees for all the hard work and dedication over the years.
5TH Cell as a company is not closing down, but our focus right now is 100% on helping our staff make the transition to other external opportunities. If we haven’t already reached out, any interested employer can reach us at jobs@5thcell.com.
Hmm, why was it cancelled ?
Just asking this currently just sounds like a steaming load of complete bullshit to my ears.
Good question. It was to be a mobile game.
It’s awesome they are actually helping the guys they let go to find a new place of work. Not many companies do that. Or did I read that last part wrong?
i have Never played scribblenauts, was it a really good game or no?
I think my younger siblings played it and they seemed to enjoy it. Unfortunately that was years ago and I hadn’t heard of anything major from this developer recently.
