Terraria Wii U Coming June 24 In Europe And June 28 In North America

505 Games and creator-developer Andrew Spinks’ Re-Logic announced today that 2D sandbox action-adventure game Terraria is coming to Wii U. The game will be available for retail on June 24 for Europe and June 28 in North America.

The long-awaited Wii U Edition of Terraria features intuitive touchscreen controls to allow players easy access to the world of Terraria, as well as several multiplayer options such as four-player local split-screen co-op and eight-player online multiplayer. Players can also post achievements on Miiverse leaderboards to track progress.

“Terraria on Wii U offers an amazing new experience on the Wii U gamepad,” said Dean Scott, Producer at 505 Games. “Using the gamepad touch screen controls, the Wii U version allows players the unique ability to dig deep into Terraria’s universe and build complicated structures by simply drawing on the screen.”

Terraria is a side-scrolling action-adventure that focuses on crafting unique items, exploring vast worlds and battling various enemies. It blends a traditional 2D combat system with expansive crafting mechanics and randomly generated pixel worlds.

The Wii U edition of Terraria also features:

  • 14 different environments such as eerie dungeons, slippery ice wastes, wild jungles and more;
  •  Hundreds of craftable weapons, armor and items;
  • More than 150 enemies ranging from zombies to armies of goblins;
  •  Epic boss battles that test players’ combat skills;
  •  Vast worlds of exploration that introduce new potions, magic, gear and more.

  1. finally!

    i held off getting the 3ds version because i was hopeful they would have good gamepad integration on the WiiU. sounds like they did just that.

    *coughminecraftcough*

  2. I was never sold on the whole “Gamepad touch screen” stuff. Or, the Gamepad in general. I love Nintendo and their consoles and games. But I was never a fan of the Gamepad. It’s too big, bulky and heavy (compared to normal feather-weight controllers). And I do believe that the Gamepad is probably another reason why a lot of people didn’t buy a Wii U. It reeks of “gimmick”. Feels like one too. I never use the Gamepad in games that have regular controller options.

    However, with all of that said, I’m still buying the Wii U version of Terraria. Ever since I heard it was in development for Wii U, I held off on buying other versions. I always support my Nintendo consoles when a game is a multi-console release.

    1. Big? Fairly, but that really boils down to preference like why some people like the Galaxy Note, while others want the smaller phones because aint no body got pockets for that. Bulky? If 1.5 DVD cases are considered “bulky”. Heavy? Honestly, if it’s heavy to you, you need to lift more. It is heavier than the Pro Controller, but not by a significant margin. It only “reeks of gimmick” if your use of the word is too loose honestly. It’s a controller, that’s all. There’s not one way games should be played or “normal/regular? controllers. And when games are built with specific controllers in mind, it works excellently… when those controls are unique or offer genuine convenience such as level editor in Mario Maker that is.

      Don’t really see why the preamble to getting the darn game on the Wii U was for cause, if you wanted it there, get it there. Cool you want to support your Nintendo consoles, I enjoy doing the same.
