      1. IGN is a mess. I’m a diehard zelda fan, but even I wouldn’t have given Skyward Sword a 10 over Twilight Princess and Ocarina of Time. And not to mention piece of crap Polygon. Dudes gave Bayonetta 2 a bad score because the game had too much sex around the characters… smh..

      1. *looks it up* P.T., short for Playable Teaser, was just the name for a free interactive teaser for Silent Hills, not the actual name of the game.

  1. I don’t know about these others they mentioned but Silent Hills definitely fits this list. Guillermo del Toro & Hideo Kojima working together? Talk about a dream pairing. Awesome horror director working with an awesome game developer. Fuck you, Konami! YOU FUCKING IMBECILES!!! At this point, they need to pull an Enron & just die already!

    1. Someone needs to hire these two guys to make a new horror game franchise. When they completely decimate every other horror franchise, Konami will learn how fucking stupid they were to fuck over the development of Silent Hills.

        1. Once upon a time, we’d do anything to help Konami to keep them around. Now, we wouldn’t even PISS on them to save them!

  2. Mega Man needs its own list lol :p They shoud have added something related to the N64DD on this list, though. We almost got a Pokémon RPG and a Fire Emblem game on the N64DD </3 Two of my favorite game series </3 I THINK an Earthbound game was planned too… I think?

    1. You are probably thinking of Mother 3 then. According to wiki, it was originally planned for Super Famicom back in 1994 but transitioned to N64 & it’s 64DD add-on, getting canned in 2000. Development restarted in 2003 & the game was released on the GBA in 2006. Yeah. Fans of Mother 2 had to wait over 10 years for the final installment. @.@ It seems Star Fox & F-Zero aren’t the first franchises to take nearly a decade or over a decade to finally get a new installment.

      1. first Nintendo franchises to take nearly a decade or over a decade to finally get a new installment.*

      2. Yep, that’s what I meant :p I just forgot weather or not it was a part of Mother 3’s development. Not only did fans have to wait, but fans outside of Japan don’t even have an official port of Mother 3 (Which sucks, since its my favorite Mother game :/) A good amount of Nintendo’s First Party titled get snubbed… which is a shame since its always the original and interesting titles that developers spent a lot of time on.

  3. Mega Man Universe? Lol! That game looked terrible, so I’m not too sad about that.

Mega Man Legends 3 is the truly sad cancellation. I’m still pissed about that. Fuck you Capcom.

Then again, this is IGN. So I’m not surprised by their rankings.

    1. Yep, I was thinking that too. They also had Pokémon and Fire Emblem games planned. I think elements of the FE title made it into Path of Radiance, but it’s the Pokémon title that I find the most interesting. We almost got a main series Pokemon RPG on a home console, which could have lead to more home console successors instead of every main series Pokémon game being on a handheld…

      1. Didn’t The Pokemon Company once say they won’t do a console main series game because it would lack the social aspects of trading and battling other trainers? Consoles aren’t exactly portable.

…Unless NX turns out to be the hybrid it’s been teased to be.

        1. That’s a terrible cop-out these days. Not only do we have online now but they can also make a secondary device that allows you to transfer your Pokemon to it, carry it around, trade with people using said device, then go back home to transfer their newly traded Pokemon to the console game. Honestly, it’s just GameFreak not wanting to break tradition.

          1. “. . .Secondary device that allows you to transfer your Pokemon to it, carry it around, trade with people using said device, then go back home to transfer . . .”

GameFreak made a good step in that direction with the PokeWalker back with Heart Gold and Soul Silver. Honest shame we never saw more of stuff like that, because I used it. Well, before my copy of HG got swiped.

            1. Typical GameFreak, though. Even though a feature of a previous game pair was highly enjoyed & popular, the next pair of games drops it for some stupid fucking reason. I’m expecting Soar from OR/AS to be next on that list. :/ Remember how X/Y had outfit customization only for OR/AS to drop it? Same with Pikachu following behind you in Yellow then again with the first Pokemon in your team following behind you in HG/SS.

              1. I skipped ORAS and I couldn’t get into X and Y (I got about 50 hours in and just stopped; I couldn’t even tell you where I left off). I remember having your lead Pokemon following you in HG though, that was nice.

        2. XD Social aspects. Bunch of hogwash. As many times as I’ve taken my 3DS with me, I don’t think I’ve ever asked anyone to battle or trade with me. Aside from my cousin or people I already know. Nobody randomly challenges people to Pokemon out in public like they do in the games and it would be hilarious if I saw that.

          1. Maybe it happens more than we think? Naw. It’s most likely just a fucking Japanese thing & GameFreak refuses to see that’s not how things work outside of Japan. Exactly like Nintendo. God. This is why I sometimes forget GameFreak isn’t actually 100% owned by Nintendo.

      2. Yeah, I’m sick of the main Pokémon games all being handhelds. That’s one of the main reasons why I was unable to stay a Pokémon fan. I loved Pokémon Diamond, but I’m just not very keen on playing handhelds. I attempted to play Pokémon XD and Colosseum on Gamecube, but just couldn’t get into them. Even though those aren’t like the actual handheld series.

  6. And you know, in an alternate universe, Metroid Prime: Federation Force may have been on this list.

Wait, scratch that- this list was for the “biggest video games that *unfortunately* never came out.”
